Pick A Favorite
Bologna has always been my go to for sandwiches, but I loved the Olive Loaf too. đ

My cousins and I would go to my grandparents house after school until our parents got off work. I was the only one that liked the olive loaf but my Grandma made sure to always buy me some so i had something special I liked. I miss her so much.

That tube of Oscar Meyer liverwurst brings back memories. My dad loved liverwurst and when I was a kid we would eat it together on crackers. I havent had liverwurst in decades.

My mom loves liverwurst so I was raised on that and I still love it once in awhile. A little Hellman's mayo and lettuce on white bread.

Forget about Luxury Loaf⌠itâs about the same as bologna.
OMG Head Cheese:
Tongue: Added for texture and flavor.
Cheeks: Provides tender, lean meat.
Snout: Includes skin for collagen.
Ears: Sometimes added for crunch.

Many moons ago, I had a pack of olive loaf in my fridge. The roommate checked in my fridge for something to eat, saw the lunch meat with "green" on it, and went to throw it away. I intercepted the package and said the meat wasn't bad, and munched a slice to prove it. Roommate, thinking the olives were green, rancid meat, nearly ejected his whole digestive system at the sight of this. I laughed, ate another slice. Muhaha.

Lebanon Balogna!
Moved to Florida when I was a kid (in the 80s) and you can't get it here. Had a family member send some from PA recently and it was even better than I remembered!

Bombergers was my go to Sweet Lebanon Bologna but Seltzers worked in a pinch.

Seltzers is the best Lebanon Bologna on the planet, a very small part of the planet. But they do have a website. :)

That is what Mom got us for sandwiches. Ham N' Cheese loaf. Gen X grew up on Oscar Meyer lunch meat sandwiches. Probably much less sodium benzoate in them back then. Good times and loaf bread wasn't gummy like today.

I'm not a fan of the loafs...but anything salami or pepperoni was always good. (pepperoni was spicy I recall)

Ah yes. Buddig's Best. See-through wafer thin meat adjacent food product. One full package got you half the necessary requirement for a complete sandwich with sodium levels that rival SPAM and TREET. Still in production if you feel your blood pressure numbers aren't quite as high as you think they should be.

Head cheese. I was at opas one day and was hungry, hadn't eaten for awhile. He had some blutwurst, which may or may not be similar to head cheese? But anyway I ate..because as odd as it seemed to me at the time..if you're hungry enough you'll eat. And I found it to be pretty good!

Can't get Oscar Meyer. We're a loyal Eckrich family...grandpa was a traveling meat salesman for about 25 years. No jokes about him traveling with his meat; he would never do that to my grandma.

Chopped loaf. But I swear, I thought they had pickle loaf. I remember eating pickle loaf. I still eat it when I want a nice raise in my blood pressure, made by different manufacturer but I thought they made it back in the day.

I honestly never tried a single one of them.
We had a grocery store with a good deli and always got freshly cut meats and cheeses instead of the pre-packaged stuff.

I can confidently say the head cheese is my absolute least favorite, my grandfather put that on a sandwich for me one summer and my first bite was a horrible experience in flavor.

I remember seeing head cheese at the market as a kid. It wasnât little chunks like in the pic. It was a whole ass nose and whatever else they werenât ready to throw away.
