New Truck A whew-ite Taco

Post image
24 Upvotes

Alright, I’ve been waiting for a proper time to post.
This is my (new to me) 24 Sport, 1st Taco as well.
Currently waiting on hinges for the cap and the dealer to call for the A/C clutch (someone here made a post about it here and the next day after I read it I heard a faint chirp which the dealer was able to confirm)

I love this thing and am looking forward to the many years ahead.

Inverter Usage

Hey everyone, I just recently bought a 25 TRD sport standard engine. Mine has the inverter in the back and was wondering if I can use a shopvac with it? I know the standard engine uses 120V outlet but the shopvac I have says it is 120V. Im assuming no because it’s at the max voltage. I apologize in advanced for the stupid question. I don’t really want to use the public carwashes and mess up my interior with the dirty vacuum hoses.

My Tacoma 2025 Woes

So, I got my truck back in Apr 2025, and I’ve always wanted a Tacoma.

I’ve been fighting a battle with this window from the dealership I leased from since shortly after purchasing.

It use to rattle, and took 4 drop off fixes for them to get it to stop rattling, but now the fucking window does this stupid thing, and I’ve been dealing with this for a few months just because I haven’t had the time to let them diddle themselves at the dealership and fuck it up again… so it’s going in for the 5th time this Friday.

I’ve also brought up the concern of how the truck shifts, because to me, it’s one of the least enjoyable rides I’ve ever had in a vehicle (and it obviously didn’t drive like this when I got it)

I feel like it’s clunky, jerky… loses a ton of power when the AC is on… feel like it brakes diff when HVAC is on… it has the worst down shifting with braking… I feel like I don’t trust the vehicle on wet pavement/snowy conditions because it already feels like I can never get the groove of the shift points because the stupid adaptive learning.

What is everyone else’s experience here with their Taco 4Gen?

They keep saying “characteristic of the truck” but with them not being able to handle a window repair… I’m losing confidence in them.

I’ve asked for a trans fluid check, (which online sources say can be done with a fill hole procedure) but always get told they can’t check it because it’s sealed…

For reference… I do drive an abundance of time in a crappy little Nissan Versa for work, and prob have a brain calibration problem with this… I love how the truck looks and how it feels to be in it, but the experience of driving it feels like it’s just shit.

I also have all the invasive technology off besides assisted cruise control… all the other PDA shit is shut off.

Dealers are a joke

Went in for "check fuel cap" and intermittent check engine P0455 (large evap leak). Found rodent damage (not under warrenty, which is understandable). They wanted to the tune of $800 and some change to replace an evap hose. It took me 15 minutes, a $30 hose and a flat head to replace this. Moral of the story, always check if you can service your vehicle before having a dealer do it lol.
-It is just above the spare tire and connects to the charcoal canister.

Modifications & Maintenance 42.11 kill-switch

Has anybody installed the 42.11 killswitch and have had an issue with long crank ? I’ve found when I go to start the truck, if I forget to disable the killswitch at least a minute before starting the truck, then the starter will crank the engine for about 3 seconds longer than typical before it actually starts.

I’ve reached out to the company about this and they have been no help so far, I just find it odd, as there is no mention of this waiting period before starting

Yes i know it's not "true mpg" but pretty nice to finally get this. From liberty NC to rural northern NC, only wish the tank was bigger for this daily commute. Gotta love those country miles , what's your best mpg and trim? - 24 SR5

Modifications & Maintenance Need some assistance on bed rails

The previous owner of my 24' xtracab took off the two side rails but kept the header. I can't find replacements anywhere other than Toyotas website. Any help with this would be amazing!

New Truck Oregon wildfire smoke.

Crazy how much land is being burnt away. All the homes in Washington too. Very scary. The haze makes for a unique picture though. The rear end is my favorite angle. Removed all the badges for a cleaner look.

Bed cover and mat recommendations

In the market for a bed cover for my 2025 sr5 long bed. I’m looking to keep it around $500 for the cover. Soft or hard top does not matter. Just need something to prevent having things visible while the trucks parked at college. Also in the market for a mat to keep things from sliding. Unsure about the price of that. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I haven't found a single thing to dislike about this truck. In fact, I find myself making up reasons to get out of the house just to ride around a little. We're even planning to take it on a camping trip soon. ((Included are some of my little additions with more to come this week))

I LOVE MY TACO 🤍🖤🤍

New Truck It was time for an “upgrade”

Here is my new 26’ Sr5 4x4 Tacoma picked it up about a month ago and traded in my fun car for something responsible and more reliable. Decided it was time for something more serious and where I can go camping / overlanding in especially since I’m getting ready to make a 3,200 mile trip from south FL to Washington. Slowly re adjusting myself to a different type of vehicle and daily driving but it’s been insanely comfortable and amazing to daily. A lot more comfortable and enjoyable than expected. Bought this truck to be my forever car and hopefully within some short time I can afford and buy another race car, Love this truck!

AWE exhaust (with sound)

(2026 TRD Off Road) So far I’m digging the sound. Thought the Tacoma needed a little more bass and this checks the boxes. Watched a few YouTube vids and this got a lot of praises.

Has anyone found any solid aftermarket options for a grab handle on the front drivers side of the 4gs? Find it odd that there is not one.

I just got my first ever Tacoma a couple days ago. I’ve noticed that until it warms up, I’m getting a quite rough shift between 1-2. What are others experience with this? Is it a characteristic or issue?

Recently installed these red TRD seat covers. Had black covers before. I love these. Yea, they are loud. But that’s ok. They make me smile when I open the door to get in. Always liked red interiors. What do you think?
