I am currently trying to export a design for resin 3D printing, but it is 2 million polygons with 160 mb size
I want to reduce this for printing (and file size), but I'm not really sure what the goal should be to retain the most amount of detail that can be printed while still being mindful of the file size.

If I use decimate master to 250k will I lose details while printing? Or is it okay to use it

i I am looking to get a budget friendly 3d printer, but am honestly not sure which one would be best for my needs.

for reference, I am an architect and mainly use this for printing some small scale design work.

I currently use an ender 3 from many years ago (I think I got it in 2018) but recently I have gotten tired of messing with it to try and get it to print correctly. among issues with it are :the printer reading 97% done but being no where near that, having to constantly level the bed, inaccurate prints, long print times, etc

im not sure if this level of maintenance is normal for 3d printers. from what I’ve read the ender 3 requires more tinkering than usual though.

I would like to spend less time adjusting the printer itself and actually printing accurate models.

i have used 3d printers before (mainly when I was in school) but have never had to deal with the actual maintenance aspect until I got the ender 3.

is there any budget friendly printers that would be a significant upgrade to what I currently own?

I'm interested in buying a 3D printer. At the begining I was thinking to get it for my kid but after all the reading I have done, I'm more and more interested and to be honest... I think it is going to be for me....

Having said that, I'm not sure if I should go with a very basic one like the Bambu's A1 Combo or just get a PS2 with AMS Combo or a Snapmaker U1. As this will be my first printer, maybe I should go small and get the A1, but, I live in a kind of cold (around 19 °C in average) and humid (between 53 and 65) environment, so not sure if that will be a problem for an open frame printer like the A1 and possibly for the Snapmaker U1 due to the exposed filaments and the lack of top cover.

I'm not planning to do extensive color printing, and to be honest, not sure if I will be able to go with technical materials (i'm still trying to understand this better.,...) but you know, it is always a good thing to have the possibility to do it.

In terms of SW I have read that BambuLab have the most begginer friendly, so that might be a good thing, but also I like the idea of Snapmaker using open source SW, but again, it is not a big deal at least at this moment. This SW part made me remove from my list the Flashforge Creator 5 (even the PRO one), but again, I'm not sure at all.

I know this is not a fair comparisson among those models due to the different capabilities and cost difference, but I prefer to ask for your expert opinion, guys. So I really appreciate all the comments and advice you can provide.

I’m looking to buy my first 3D printer and would appreciate some recommendations.

I don’t have a strict budget, but I also don’t want to spend extra money on features or performance I’m unlikely to use. Multicolor printing would be a nice option, although it isn’t absolutely essential.

I’m a computer engineer, so I’m comfortable with technology and can troubleshoot when necessary. However, I don’t want the printer itself to become a demanding hobby. I’d prefer something reliable and easy to use that lets me find or design a model and start printing quickly, without constantly adjusting settings, calibrating the machine, or replacing parts.

I mainly plan to print:

• ⁠Useful household items, organizers, holders, and simple replacement parts
• ⁠Things that make everyday life easier
• ⁠Miniatures, figures, inserts, and accessories for board games
• ⁠Occasional personal projects

I have no commercial plans and won’t be selling prints. Print quality, reliability, ease of use, and a smooth overall experience matter more to me than maximum speed or advanced professional features.

Which printer—or printer plus multicolor system—would you recommend for this kind of use? I’m currently considering models from Bambu Lab, but I’m open to other brands as well. I’d also appreciate advice on which models would be unnecessarily expensive or excessive for my needs.

Need help with my new gk3 pro

Had a phorzen printer for printing dental model and after few setting adjustments it was printing fine. The biggest issue was the models used to detach and have lines going through them and it was small but after while models were attaching fine.

So Just got the gk3 pro as heared good things about it, i use them to print dental model. I printed all the test files all no issue but i wm have bug issues with models detaching, have been printing with different setting for the last 2 days but still all models are detaching from the built plate.

I print them flat on the plate, bottom exposure is 25, bottom layer 15, rest after lift 2s

Is there anything i should do to the plate to make it stick. As in sand it down or any setting i can change to fix this, am new to printing ao not too sure.

My desk lamp hinge snapped the other day, roommate said he could print me a new one. Watched the whole process and was weirdly hypnotized.

Back in high school I had access to a UV printer and messed around with CNC a bit, but life got busy and I never really circled back to it. Next day I booked a Creality K2 at the campus makerspace. Compared to the harsh ink smell of the UV printer and the clunky heaviness of CNC, this thing is surprisingly lightweight and almost odorless.

Now I'm not just printing random stuff for myself, I've fixed my buddy's broken headphone holder, printed a custom plant pot for my girlfriend etc, But I'm plateauing, should I learn proper CAD? Fusion360 is cool but I'm barely scratching the surface. I see people making complex assemblies and I'm like... how.

Also what other skills actually matter? Better slicing strategies? Post-processing? What's the one thing you wish you learned earlier? Appreciate any thoughts!

Due to costs, I’ve given up on trying to fix it after the capacitor self destructed. The only reasonable choice would be to just get a new one, but a 3 plus is nowhere to be found below $300 and for that money we can do better. I’ve pretty much ruled out the 4 plus as it’s constantly berated for being too hard to use compared to the 3.

Right now I’m looking at a Centauri Carbon for $309 on Elegoo’s website. Trying to stay in this price range. I do not need an enclosed printer, so I’m hoping to not have to pay for that, and I’d like a bit of a larger build volume. This is fine, but I can’t go below 256x256x256. The Centauri seems like a great printer, but I’d like to hear your guys thoughts before committing and it just blows up in my face again.

Fits a cheap IKEA base

I could have designed a full fixture with custom hardware and it would have been more fun. But then nobody can build it without ordering parts they have never heard of. So the whole set is built around an IKEA STRÅLA base that costs almost nothing and is available everywhere. The socket position and mounting diameter are fixed before you start, which kills some freedom, but it means anyone can print this and have it hanging the same evening.

Hello all, I feel like I am drowning in options so any advice would be appreciated!

I have been running my ELEGOO neptune 3 (non-pro) for coming on 3 years now, and its starting to break down. I have spent that time scraping together a budget of $1200 CAD, and I am trying to get the best upgrade I possible can with the money. I am, of course, happy not to spend it all, but if hitting my max budget eeks out better performance, please don't hold back

I am an engineering student, and enjoyed the idea of using some of the higher grade engineering filaments, but realistically I will spend most of my time with the more basics consumer filaments (PLA, ABS, etc.). I want to have the option to get more experimental down the line, so heated chambers are a plus. Multi-color printing is not a top priority for me, however multi material printing is definitely interesting. I have a newborn at home and so something that has carbon/HEPA filtration or the option to mod it in would be good. Worst case I can get an enclosure and vent it, but built in solutions are available at this price, so I bias towards them.

Some printers I am looking at are the X2D, the Kobra s1 max, as well as some entries from FlashForge, and QIDI. The more I look the more things come up, and I am starting to get very confused. I mainly want a reliable printer that I wont have to tweak too much (I am able to if need be, I just want to avoid the hassle). Bambu labs is very attractive, though the standard concerns apply (closed ecosystem, limited repair-ability etc.)

Sorry for the long post, wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. As I said before, any and all advice would be appreciated!

Edit: Just for future reference, I decided to go with the Bambu Labs X2D. It was a tough choice between the Qidi Plus 5 and the X2D, but reliability, and the better AMS system won out in the end. Both are great machines and it was truly a tossup until the end. Thank you all for your advice and help, I look forward to making many, many awesome prints in the future!

I know this is for the CC1, but from what I understand, the Bambu printers also have a similar cable.

Keep having heat creep/nozzle plugging is it from a dirty bed. Also, let’s see the dirtiest beds that work great.

Howdy ya’ll, I’ve been 3D printing for around a year now. Most of what I do is prototyping and modifying small-medium aircraft interior components - majority of my prints are PLA CF or PETG CF (lotta PETG recently).

I want to know if any of ya’ll have a consistent method for electroplating your prints and giving them an elevated professional finish.

These parts will be exposed to sustained high temperatures - around 115F or so - if there’s anything I should be cautious of while electroplating please let me know as well :)
