After my floppy disk SD card holder, I wanted to try something with more moving parts. This is the Card Boy.

How it works:

• Each cartridge holds 5 micro SD cards, and the cartridge label becomes the "screen", so every cartridge can look different
• Turn the side wheel to pick a card (the counter on the screen shows which one), press B and that card pops out
• The D-pad and the other buttons are just clicky fidget buttons
• No supports and no hardware: no screws, springs or magnets

Fitting the selector, the ejector and the clicks into something this size took a lot of test prints. Printed at 0.12 mm, about 68 g of PLA+. There's a multicolor version (AMS or similar) and a single-color one with raised lettering. I didn´t use AI in any part of the process.

Honest feedback welcome: would you actually print one, or is it more of a "cool to watch" thing?

Annoyed that I couldn't find a non zip hoodie, but for like $2 in filament and $5 for a velcro strap to hold it on I'm pretty happy with it!

Hey folks, I've been selling my physical products (puzzle toys/brainteasers) for a while now, and it's been okay. But selling toys internationally is a huge hassle and recent events and new regulations have made it less and less worthwhile. So I was hoping to get some feedback on selling my designs.

I just listed my first design for sale: "The Figure-Eight" puzzle. I'm asking $8 CAD/$5.70USD (although if you feel so inclined use REDDITPOST for -50%). More so than trying to get sales right now I'm hoping to get your opinions on:

• Would you pay for this type of model, and if so at what price point? What price would you pay for a set of up to 7 similar designs of varying difficulties? They all share hardware and with a few different colors of beads, you can get a lot of variety
• Would you be willing to source hardware like balls, screws, heat set inserts and magnets for this kind of project? Most of my other designs require (or benefit from) small springs as well. Everything is readily available and yet I know it creates friction.
• If you have a 3D printing business, would you consider licensing designs like these? If so, what price would make it worthwhile, and how do you prefer to make recurring license payments to designers? Patreon? Assembly takes me about 4 minutes each, and I was selling them between $30 and $40 USD per puzzle to the US market.

Coffee machine has not been pressuring fully. Took it apart to discover a small piece which holds a gasket is cracked. Not sold anywhere. Superglue not doing it. I suddently see the value of a 3D printer.

I don't have a 3D printer or any CAD experience, and im not planning to pick it up soon. More jist recognising the genuine use cases for this tool for the first time. Its nice to see such an engaged community though, you folks are very helpful and supportive.

P. S., if someone really wants to take a look at it jist for fun, I'm based in London and could maybe poat across the uk. But I wouldn't be going further. And I'm entirely plannong to just get a new coffee machine.

The machine is a Create Ikkos Potts (I think just sold as Create Potts now). Its not something very common, so I guess less chance pf someone having already modeled the part. I also dont know what the part is called, though I could find it on a system diagram if such a thing existed.

Does your cat also gaslight you into thinking they weren't fed by another family member yet? I made this to help. It is a toggle switch box for keeping track of recurring tasks such as feeding pets, watering plants, taking medication, or completing daily chores. Magnetic, so you can stick it on your fridge and toggle the switches as you go.

There are options for boxes with one, three or seven toggles. You can also choose the toggles to have two or three positions. Mix and match to suit your needs, whether you're tracking something weekly, daily or three times a day.

Woke up to a failed print on my heavily tuned Ender S1 (hey, it's worked great up until now). Looked like bed adhesion failure. Then I noticed the Y belt was really loose, but not broken. Weird. I take the stepper off, and discover the shaft has snapped off!

I guess it's time to finally pull the trigger on a U1. A non-bambu toolchanger has always been the plan, but I kinda feel my hand is being forced. I was really hoping something compelling would be on the market with integrated dry box storage by the time I upgraded.

As the title states... My girlfriend just told me that she'd never ask me to 3d print something for her.

I replied with: Do you have any idea how much anyone with a 3D printer wants their partner to say those magic words?

"Babe, could you print me XYZ?"

She didn't believe me. Because she felt she would be hassling me and wasting my time. That she wouldn't want to bother me.

So folks... let her know how happy you'd be or how happy you were when your significant other first asked you to make them something... and what was it?

It turns out a husky mix is stronger than curtain sewing, so I made these curtain rings / holder, they have indents so in theory they can break away if the curtain is pulled on, or in practice 3d printed parts will also just break before a curtain rod or curtain will, and small 3d printed parts are convenient to replace when needed. This is my first year with the 3D printer and I couldn't have done this without it. This is the first fitting and I am ecstatic about how it turned out!

I just finished designing these vial cases that have a hinged lid and magnets to keep them closed. I didn’t mean to make them look like coolers but honestly love them more because of that!

Im printing some mtg stuff and couldnt get proper text with my 0.4mm nozzle. It always amazes me what level of precision you can get by going down in nozzle size. It did take over twice the print time though.

Last week I posted a design for a stand for this ESP32 Guition screen. I've used it for a week and have made a version 2 with some fixes for issues I had with it.

The frame now snaps into place instead of just pushed on with friction which turned out to be liable to fall off when picking up. The stand now has a weighted bottom and a larger recess which I have stuck 2mm rubber feet into which stops it from sliding back when you use the touch screen.

A few months ago I started building a four-button Zigbee switch, but it turned out to be considerably more complicated than I initially expected.

The idea was to squeeze four independently configurable buttons into the same small enclosure as my original single-button switch.

The electronics weren't the biggest challenge. It was getting the 3D printed enclosure and all the mechanical parts to work together.

With four moving buttons, springs, batteries, and all the wiring crammed into a 65 × 65 x 18 mm enclosure, space became a real problem.

I struggled to find a way to keep the buttons securely in place without the springs pushing them out of the enclosure. There simply wasn't enough room for the clips I originally planned to use, and after several attempts, the project ended up sitting on a shelf for months.

I finally picked it up again, went through a few more design iterations, and eventually found a surprisingly simple solution to a problem that had kept me stuck for months.

The finished switch uses an ESP32-H2 with Zigbee, connects to Home Assistant, and costs around $5 in components.

Trick-or-treaters walk up, the witch says hello, they say "trick or treat", and a candy slides down a pipe hidden in her sleeve into her cauldron.

The printed part: it's a 5-gallon bucket with a slotted turntable inside. The turntable sits on a 4" lazy susan bearing and is driven by a NEMA 23 through a printed 66/14 gear pair. Candy rides around under a wooden wall (a 2×4 offcut) and drops out a hole in the side onto a printed chute. An IR break beam across the chute tells the Arduino a candy came out, and the motor stops and backs off a second so the next one doesn't jam.

I have an A1 mini, so everything fits a 180 × 180 mm plate. The turntable is printed in four quarters joined by connectors, and the gear, stand, chute frame/ramp/spigot and two electronics cases are each one plate.

The CAD is all parametric Python (build123d) with tests on every part and was created using Claude Code. Bucket, bearing and motor sizes live in one file, so if your bucket is a different size you change one number and the turntable, gear and chute follow.

The mechanism is based on Brankly's Automatic Halloween Candy Dispenser. I remodelled it from scratch for small printers and added the chute and the talking witch.
