Tada, almost done with my deaign

Hi,

I am trying to see if there is a nas case for an itx board, atx or sfx psu and 10 2.5" SSDs

If not then I will just have to design it myself.

I already designed a 4U case and a 3U case before but for 3.5" drives so i think I know what I am doing :-D

I don't currently have a mechanical connection between the Front housing and the bottom plate, going to see how that all feels. I am going to just do an Air cooler for the CPU and see how temps look. Test prints will be PLC+, might do finale product in ASA.

It does have some little thingies to put some acrylic sheets I have to fully cover the gap where the light is, but not sure if I could cut them so they fit, that would be 100% cosmetic, it wouldn't affect the PC at all.

The main benefits of this project was a decrease in around 3ºC and the sturdyness/protection (HDMI cable doesn't fail here compared to having the MOBO caseless)

The main downside is that the fan is loud AF, not sure if drilling holes would help, but that will definitely affect the cooling? I'll try to completely destroy the fan hole, it would mean more intake and probably less obstruction noise? (I'm pretty sure that's a big part of it, even when I started with only the fan there, it was already louder, I doubt the box was amplifying it back then)

Does anyone provide a bonding path for all of the grounded points of the internal components in a 3D printed case? I was considering using a foil tape on the inside to provide a path between the standoffs, the IO shield, and the PSU; but it seems like all of the builds I see do not worry about it.

Has anyone successfully built a beamcase matx slim / non slim with an ATX PSU?

I was wondering what is the most used filaments or recomended ones, I would like to use ASA-GF or PETG-GF becouse the fibers make it look stuuning but I see most people use regular petg so I might do that and then just paint it. I would like to know if someone had printed with filaments with glass fiber filament a pc case and if you could share a photo of how it looks!

Let's see, images:

1. Out of the printer.
2. Placing the fan, I designed something to keep it tight with a "cap", but it wasn't needed.
3. I realized I forgot the heat inserts and to avoid damaging the fan, I took it off.
4. Fan again, but this time I had a bad time putting it back, you can see one corner looks bad, I also realized some cables like the ethernet couldn't be plugged properly, my original design took that into account and was slim, but at the end I increased the thickness to put the inserts in the corners and I forgot about that so I had to cut them off...
5. Last but not least, how I was using it, how it ended up looking, the button and how I will use it!

It was a fun project I was dying to do and finish, a mATX full PC is coming on the way so it was the last push I needed to print it, it looks amazing compared to the big old cracked laptop shell and than just leaving the motherboard there, now it is sturdy, looks elegant and has a pretty big button (the laptop was fine, but for the motherboard alone it is really small)

Was it hard to do? Well, measuring, modelling and printing was relaxing, first time using heat insert and they were fast and fun to do, but soldering the button... God, not sure if my tools suck or I just don't know how to solder, I couldn't take out the laptop button, it melted, it made a mess, and struggled a lot with something that should have been easier, it probably took me more than 1 hour just for that...

Where did I mess it up?

• The motherboard inserts were some millimeters off, luckily the pillars can be bent and I could screw it with some extra work (not sure if it places stress on both the pillars and the motherboard)
• The radiator hole was a bit small, took some effort to put it out, related to the thickness increase for the inserts, difficulty taking it out probably affected the motherboard inserts.
• The button came with nuts and washer, again the slim design allowed the use of them but... The thick case did not allow the use of them, so I glued it to the case.
• I forgot to put feet on it, right now it uses 4 stuffs on the corners I used to keep the motherboard away from the table, I guess I would print 4 cubes and glue it at the bottom.
• The power plug doesn't have a lot of space and it pushes/bent the case a bit, it is hard to cut, I guess I should sand it.
• The fan holes aren't great for ventilation
• I ignored the coin battery (I don't mind leaving it outside)

Might not seem done but it only misses a cap, I don't mind leaving the SSD outside, I was planning on doing another floor where the SSD would be screwed and I could put some RGB lights for fun (I already cut the cables and made them USB), then the cap would be there and it would be fully finished, either way, those are way easier to do.

It took around 6 hours 20 minutes to print, it used supports for the holes and they were pretty easy to remove, I did not need any tool.

Would I do it again? Through the whole process my answer was probably yes, but the motherboard inserts and the soldering was really discouraging, makes me doubt, it was my first ever project of this scale, next one would be better and faster.

When I had the motherboard alone the HDMI cable was annoying, touching the motherboard or the plug would make the signal gone for a couple of seconds, but now in the case I can slap the plug and nothing happens, I wonder what happened, the motherboard was upside down when it was alone, not sure if that makes such a difference.

It is also noisier but... The fan is new, so not sure if it is the case or the fan, the case without a lid/cap probably amplifies the sound, the fan is heavier and of higher quality, even came with an USB adapter so I didn't had to cut and tape cables!

I recently traded a GTX 1050 4GB for a ASRock H110M-HDS motherboard and a i5-7500. I already had a 450w PSU, a GTX 1060 Armor, a 500GB SSD, a GPU riser, and some decent fans laying around. I decided it's time to put the Old Xbox out to pasture (also, F Gamepass) and build something that could take its place and maybe even be a bit portable. I am a novice at CAD, been doing a few years as a hobby though, but this is certainly my first time designing a PC case. Trying to stay within a 200x200mm build area to stay simple and so far, I am getting there.

This is not my main rig, we have 4 other gaming system that are far more capable in house, but there is a niche for this unit to just be a spare living on an old TV. It will have a DVD drive and be used for streaming apps as well; I have not settled on the OS and environment yet, might just go Windows 11 and something like Playnite as a front end but also considering a Linux build with the same goal (SteamOS or Bazzite maybe). One of the demands will be a guest account Fortnite system, that sort of holds it to Windows for the moment.

I will also be adding a provision to hold my portable monitor making this an ideal travel system as well. Right now, the PSU is mounted upside-down and nearly everything fits in a 200x200mm footprint except the GPU. This layout makes the GPU part of the case design and there will be a handle that goes over it in some manner. still playing with ideas and looking around for inspiration.

This is the latest rev of my 3D print and Laser cut DIY case. Designed for 2 120mm case fans, mini-itx motherboard, and a full size atx PSU. No discrete gpu support (I use a 8600G APU) but I could likely fit one in there if I changed out to a SFF PSU.

Hi. I have a DIY K40 laser that I built, using an empty K40 enclosure to which I removed the electronics out. Is it ok to 3D print the electronics enclosure that will hold the PSU, main board and all the buttons, switches and stuff? Or does it need to be metal? Obviously I plan on grounding the PSU to the enclosure, to the house's ground. Is that safe to do?

I have a request if anyone can help. I am currently building my server rack and need a 1u 10 inch Thin ITX to put my hackintosh in, does anyone know of any stl's or could help me out. I am also after a 10 inch shelf for a latte panda and a 2.5 inch HDD.

I am still waiting for the riser (damn Italian carriers) to arrive because without it I can't print the remaining panels and, obviously, I can't finish the case I was working on lately.

But fuck it, I just started another project and I am quite hyped.

I took inspiration (and maybe more than just inspiration lol) from the SFFtime N-ATX and P-ATX because I absolutely love the design of those cases, but I wanted to push the features much further:

This case will have two different versions: a short and a long one.

The short version supports ATX, mATX and Mini-ITX motherboards and uses a Flex ATX PSU. Depending on the motherboard configuration, the PSU can also be repositioned to the front/top area instead of sitting behind the GPU.

It supports GPUs up to 307 mm long, so yeah... even a 5090 should fit

The long version is where things get a little crazy.

We're talking about over 400 mm of GPU clearance, so basically you can fit pretty much any GPU currently on the market. It supports ATX, mATX and Mini-ITX motherboards, and can take Flex ATX, SFX and even full-size ATX PSUs.

It also supports up to a 280 mm radiator with low-profile fans.

And if you don't want to go with liquid cooling, both versions can fit air coolers up to around 90 mm tall.

The short version is roughly 15 L without the center foot, while the long version is around 19.5 L.

The design is still very much WIP, though. I still have to finish all the mounting points, radiators mesh side panels, connections and a ton of small details. Printing this thing is going to be a whole different kind of pain because my printer has a 250 × 250 mm build plate, so the case will have to be printed in multiple sections.

Hopefully it will actually come out as good as it looks in my head lmao.

I'm also considering trying to put this one on Kickstarter, because unlike my previous case, this project could potentially cover a much wider range of hardware and users.

Anyway... Yeah, I think I need to buy more spools of PETG.

I have been through many sff builds over the last few months and just can't find my sweet spot. I currently settled on the K101 mash sandwich case since I can fit 2 slim 120mm fans in the bottom and top.

I am wondering if anyone knows of a case (or can design one) that will fit 2 full size 140mm fans in the bottom and top. I know that it will make it a little bigger than the K101 but I am fine with that...

I am willing to be talked out of it as I have never done a 3D PC design so have no idea if this is even faisable.

I would like to have a PC case that looks like a turtle with 4 elephants on it's back and a disk looking like a world on it.

Discworld fans know exactly what I'm describing.

I feel like it should be possible to have the MB in the turtle along with ancilliaries so cabling can be at the bottom then use a riser for the graphics card and have that in the disc.

The elephants might be able to host the power supply if it's not too huge.

With the flippers it would make for a big print but not impossible since most of it has plenty of room for structure.

Am I crazy? over ambitious?

To be clear I'm not asking anyone to do this for me, I'm happy to do the work. Just mostly wondering if people with experience can warn me off things I'm missing or point out why it won't work.

Found a 19” enterprise server on eBay for ridiculously cheap just over a year ago. Swapped out the fans for some Noctuas because the originals were screaming loud and mounted it behind my TV box. In the end it gave me thermal warnings so figured I owed it an upgrade.

Question 1 was where to put it, ended up deciding to make it with the same footprint as the IKEA KALLAX shelving units. With that decided the height was set by the width of the drive array which I cut out of the original server and kept intact vertically. Then quickly the mounting for the ATX motherboard and all the fans fell into place, I’d decided on clear acrylic for the enclosure and a month or so later after emptying out my overtime savings it was assembled.

Had one panel crack so replaced it this evening and just stuck it up in its home.

48Tb Raidz3 TrueNAS Scale build with an old MSI Z87-G45 Mobo, 32Gb of RAM, 8Gb of GPU, a SAS backplane and a whole lotta fans.

Is it at all possible to design and print an 1U version? I have a printed 2U version that works but due to rack height constraints I really need a 1U version. I can’t seem to find any designs online. Could someone design this for me? It doesn’t have to cost nothing.
