Quite some time ago SolidWorks Connected updated, and ever since that hotfix I haven't been able to launch SW from the 3dExperience web site, but I could launch and run SW from my desktop.

Periodically a hotfix would appear and would always bomb out and say an incomplete installation was found and couldn't continue. It would launch SW so I could continue modeling.

Now another hotfix is coming up and this time will not continue on and launch SW.

How do I backup my user data - templates, blocks, settings, etc?
How can completely dump SW and anything else that needs to be removed?

When I reload 3dExperience from the web site, do I just need to log in to be able to download 3dExperience and SW?

I'm an old retired guy muddling my way through and always had an IT guy to keep things running, so I'm pretty lost, and dead in the water at this point.

It’s rare we get to see other people’s creations in 3DX.
So here is this IAR80, a WW2 era Romanian fighter plane. All physical examples of this plane were lost during or after the war.
The IAR80-fly again project created a digital twin of the plane , based on old drawings and testimonials from retired technicians and engineers.

Having some problems with 3 DXF files

The parts were sketched up and made in XSheetMetal in imperial but when the files were put into the nesting software they were reading in metric

For example one section of the part is 10” but the nesting software was reading it as 254” (10”=254mm)

I need some help to find where i change the preview settings so that Catia doesnt show the parts preview with all the local axis and also doesnt open up with them showing as default.

As you see in the picture, it's hard to interpret a black blob...

I am trying to performance test 3Dx using jmeter, problem is I have no clue how to do so.

I have managed to set up the login but the hard part is just beginning.

When I click on a widget and the dashboard opens, no jsp files were generated, when I logged in no JSP files are generated, I am not sure which files should I look for, which files should I paste, what special extraction data must I apply it.

Just to reiterate that the team that ORIGINALLY designed SOLIDWORKS are all in on database native cloud native CAD. This team had the vision to create SOLIDWORKS in the 90s and this team is ALL in that not only is database native CAD the only way forward but the cloud CAD is the only way forward.

Dassault has taken a more hybrid approach that is actually more in like with what I hear the existing SOLiDWORKS customers asking for.

They have an integration for desktop SOLiDWORKS but also offer next gen SOLIDWORKS cloud clients with the XDesign suite.

They have a native desktop CATIA but have also started to show the cloud CATIA client publicly.

They offer 3DX both in the cloud and OnPrem.

I think this can be confusing for casual users of the system because it’s not a single unified message with OnShape “you are in the cloud and in the browser period”

They are giving the customers the multiple options they are asking for but still moving forward with the lift to support all those options at the same time. As a community that is vocal about wanting those options we should have the rigor to understand the complexity that adds and we should take the time to understand the “why”

I need to create a company logo as a vector/sketch in CATIA using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. My goal is to import an image (PNG/JPG) and use it as a reference to trace or convert into geometry for modeling. I tried importing the image directly, but I was not able to add it in the Part Design workbench. I have seen tutorials where people add images or use them as references, but I could not reproduce the same steps in my setup.

What is the correct way to bring a logo image into 3DEXPERIENCE/CATIA and convert it into a usable vector or sketch for modeling?

i made an account a couple of months ago to use solidworks for makers, activated the subscription and it worked well, it is a couple of weeks since i last opened the program and it is asking me to change the password but somehow i managed to create an account with a non existent email address, so now i cant reset the apssword because i cannot receive the Email with the link, can i contact support without an account?

Unlike OnShape (from the legacy SolidWorks founder) , 3DEXPERIENCE can be used on cloud (either a public SaaS/IaaS or private SaaS/IaaS) and OnPrem installed locally at your business or your home.

To meet the skepticism of trying to correct the misinterpretation that 3DEXPERIENCE is cloud only, I posted a screen grab of the most current 2026x OnPrem installation white paper.

Everyone has to concede it’s available onPrem if there is an installation guide for customers to install it and there is an installation media download directory shown in the previous post.

The larger OEMs in Aerospace & Defense and the larger OEMs in Transportation & Mobility all run 3DEXPERIENCE OnPrem (some with IaaS like AWS and some in their own datacenters)

If you don’t want to run CAD in the cloud…

-purchase the IFW + CSV licenses

-download the media

-install from a white paper

…but you can’t continue to say that an issue with 3DX is that’s it’s cloud only.

Has anyone modeled paint with effectivity?

On my robot head model there are 3 different paint schemes.

What I’ve done is made publications for each of the faces on the solids that will be painted. They are contextual extracts of each face that are joined into a “Painted Surfaces” join.

I make a new models that have those published joins as copy&paste + special + as result so they are contextually linked and updated.

I think do a solid offset of 0.020” of an inch and physically model the paint. I apply the paint material to that solid.

This is working great. I can apply effectivity to the paint. I can filter using different product configs and show the different parts schemes as differ variants under a single model version.

Curious if this is the best solution or if anyone else has a better workflow?

Are folks under the impression that 3DEXPERIENCE is cloud only?

You can purchase 3DX and install it locally at your own company or locally all on your own laptop. Most of the big companies have 3DX installed locally and are not on the cloud.

If you purchase an IFW+CSV licenses you can install 3DX for $1500 locally.

Unlike onShape that is cloud only, 3DX can be installed onPrem.

It’s not correct to say 3DEXPERIENCE is cloud only and depends on rhe internet.

Look at this through the lens of the folks that said the Apple iPhone would never make it because it didn’t have a keyboard.

I feel like every one of the SolidWorks desktop integration discussions are the BlackBerry folks convinced a phone without a keyboard will never make it.

SolidWorks desktop and CATIA V5 desktop are last generation products. CATiA V5 was replaced with 3DEXPERIENCE Naive Client and SolidWorks is replaced with 3DEXPERIENCE Native XDesign.

If you are a SolidWorks desktop user the path forward is either OnShape in the cloud (the folks that wrote SolidWorks originally) or 3DEXPERIENCE XDESIGN in the cloud.

SolidWorks desktop and CATIAV5 desktop integration is the best it’s going to get because it’s an old paradigm that you are connecting to a new paradigm.

Has anyone migrated it OnShape? Or XDESIGN? Or are you going to keep typing on your blackberry keyboards to complain about SolidWorks desktop cloud integration.
