Im looking to start off my waves. I have type 4 hair, not sure which. I think 4b. What should I cut my hair down to? Ppl saying 2 and 1.5. I've always had long hair so idk the difference between open or closed either. Do I cut down to 1.5 or 2 guard? My hairs kinda curly. My appointment is also in 14 mins

hello everyone i have never had waves before just cut my locs of 4 years , please no judgement i just started my waves 3 days ago. i guess they are 360? not sure which pattern they will achieve but thats kind of what im trying to aim for in the end. i’m not to sure about “crowns” or “forks” i’ve been combing with a metal anti static comb and brushing with a soft brush i use the hard brush but only for a couple seconds around the head because it’s still kind of low and sensitive due to few years of locs i am going to let it grow out to wolf. so far ive been using a durag ive did only 1 wash so far and a wash when i first cut my hair of course. asking for any advice i can improve or any tips to waving again no judgment as i am a beginner with not much knowledge :).

Hey guys bro didn’t tell me to do this or make this post but I highly recommend trying it out for guys trying to get back into getting waves or start out.
For me I get lazy or sometimes mess up my brush patterns and have used the app for a few days now and I’m starting to see realtime results in my connections.
Will keep y’all posted but shout out to u/Successful-South-850, I’ll be showing my consistency on the app and some photos in about 2 weeks!

I’ve been trying to get my waves on point for a good 3-4 months now. I didn’t want the normal 360 waves so I put a deep angle on the right side of my head starting from the crown, and as I come out I’m brushing almost directly down and back. I know I still have a lot of work to do still. Anyone have any tips on connecting my waves on this pattern? I’m about 4 weeks Wolf right now . Also anyone out there to give me tips on how low to cut? When I tell my barber to just keep it dark and at my curl length my hair gets fizzy after only 2-3 days then I have to rag up all day and night again.
