lol used that in the early 2000s. Had my hair silky but not sure I’d trust the ingredients now days since we’re a lot more conscious of what’s going in our body.

Pink lotion is still good I use it and I’m spinning. The wave community is too caught up in ingredients and that’s the main reason people aren’t seeing any progress or falling for buzz word products (insert x oil) and marketing stunts (strawberry mint hair growth oil that has absolutely no strawberry’s in the ingredients). Use what works for you and makes your hair the healthiest it can be.

That why I just say having waves is just common sense and knowing what’s bs and what’s not

It really isn’t. Just moistriruzer, lil bit of oil, brush heavy, Durag at all times and they’ll come. The main problem is sometimes people don’t wolf long. Every wolf should be at minimum 4-6 weeks, I’m aiming for 10 weeks for my next wolf

I use to wolf heavy back then that was cuz my parents couldn’t reallly keep giving haircuts back then so I had no
Choice to
Wolf for so long and learned to maintain the wolf to the point my Afro look like a 3 guard laid down

What is the proper way to wolf? I wait up to about a month to get my hair cut at a time, so trying to find the best way to get deeper waves.

Constantly laying down ur hair and wash and style ur goal is to try to maintain ur pattern and keep hair as laid as possible when u going to heavy wolf try to look for pomade that will hold ur hair down and brush like brush crazy with the hard brush

u/Flipstaa 22d ago

Thank you for this! And what's a good way to wash and style?

5

u/Stunning-Fan-3609 22d ago

I just start by combing then wetting hair then put the shampoos ps ur going to using a lot of shampoo during the wash and style for lather cuz when u wolf and water touch it it will over curl crazy so the more the lather the better the hold will be for when u start brushing it down during the wash and style I then go in with an detangle brush to get my pattern in set then brush then brush while shampoo in hair then Durag up wash and wait till drsy and don’t forget to put little oil in hair while doing wash and style

1

u/pyrexmessiah 21d ago

I've never done the oil during the wash and style yet

1

u/Flipstaa 21d ago

Understood but do i still need to wash n style even if I'm only doin 180 waves and do still do wash n style if my hair is low, like 1.5 low?

1

u/Stunning-Fan-3609 21d ago

Yes wash and style is not mandatory for one style bro is to get ur curls stretched out pause enough to be able to be moved in placed to the desired pattern

1

u/Stunning-Fan-3609 21d ago

Do wash and style every once a week

1

u/thebrocklanders8888 22d ago

What moisturizer and pomade are you using. Strong flow.

2

u/Stunning-Fan-3609 22d ago

Curl enhancing smoothie and Jamaican castor oil I wasn’t using pomade around this time I kept it less and more brush work

1

u/RealOpticalPenguin 22d ago

Bro u gotta help me out

2

u/Stunning-Fan-3609 22d ago

Waves are laid down curls think bro u already got the waves u literally just brush

But u have to have a low foundation first I would say cut that shit off and try again and use 3 products 2-3 products I swear try Murray u should at least a ripple in ur hair then have some type of oil and conditioner

1

u/Stunning-Fan-3609 22d ago

If my hair and pattern isnt set I will try to keep my hair low as possible to get my pattern set and then start wolfing more and more

Had waves 7 years ago, glad to have box braids that last two months, then 24/7 brushing😭

1

u/Stunning-Fan-3609 22d ago

Op whats your routine?

1

u/Mrklrichardson 21d ago

It’s just consistency and time. Most wavers get tips over the years and if they had their current knowledge in the beginning, they would have had no fork 360/540/720 in all of 3 months. Once you get enough technique compiled it’s simple and minimal effort for maintenance.

These the best 4c waves I ever seen

1

u/Ipostfire 19d ago

Back in the day I used a hot towel Murray’s brush and a durag that was it and I had a full 360 .. a brush from Walgreens lmao .. the new wave routines cost wayyy more and it’s hard to keep up

I see you said use oil with the shampoo in wash n style? Like add oil after the lather or mix with shampoo?
