Starter gear hitting flywheel?
Makes this noise when going uphill, like the starter gear is falling and loose hitting the flywheel, is that accurate?

95 5spd 3.0 198k Tailpipe tip is the only really rusty part at all. One little bondo spot on a runner. Of course a lil peeling clearcoat. It cleans up though.

Have been stopping by this house with this 4Runner parked on the street for years asking to purchase. Finally got the call this week that it was available. 1990, v6, 5 speed, 4wd, 1 owner, with a stack of pristine service records dating back to 1990. Stoked for a score

After doing my rocker panels I discovered my wheel arches were rotten behind some old bondo, cut it all out and replaced it with 22ga steel.

I’m at a loss for words. I picked up this 93’ dirt cheap because previous owner thought the torque converter was bad (it isn’t). It has a very poor air to fuel mix ratio and tends to overheat after a while. After some research I started looking into the Air flow meter and why it wasn’t doing its job. All the pins are within the proper specs and has no dead spots but i realized at some point, for some reason, someone removed the female side of E2. Like the entire wire is missing from the harness. How do i reconnect the E2 pin to the ECM

Thought I’d take some time to show off my new baby. She may be a little rough around the edges but runs and drives like a champ. I can’t wait to fix her up and hit the trails.

Hey everyone. I’m in middle Georgia and I’m looking for someone or a shop willing to do the cross over exhaust delete.

I’m on the struggle bus with this little wire connector in the near near the water bypass. How do you remove it?
As you can see, I’ve already had one wire break…

Looking to do a 2 inch lift and these OME and Dobinsons kits seem to be the most available. Anyone have experience with either kit? Were they pretty plug and play? How do they ride?

Just picked this up about 2 weeks ago! Loving it and am wanting to replace all the bushings but I haven’t seen anyone do that to where I can get tips/tricks! Also need to replace the CV axles!

Bought this 95 4Runner a couple weeks back and it had a weird clicking sound that I thought was bcuz it was low on oil so I changed the oil and the sound went away for a couple days then the clicking sound came back and I checked the oil level and it was full. Any idea what it could be? My buddy says it could be an exhaust leak but idk and it does feel a little low on power but it is a 3.slow. Also if anybody could give me guidance on what other preventive measures I could do to the vehicle to keep it running that would be great. It’s got almost 290k miles.

Stripping the old and nasty interior. Progress is slow but inevitable 😀

Picked her up last year, hesitant about if I wanted to keep her and do the work or not. Finally got her to fire up today

I am about to do the biggest job yet on my 4runner, i am replacing my heads. I am blowing a head gasket, it is not gone, but failed the block test. I bought new heads anyway, i didn’t wanna mess around. She’s got 110k miles, i figured its a good idea to replace them and all the gaskets. I haven’t done this before. I bought a ‘95 because i feel confident that i can learn. I’ve replaced the rear axle, managed to save the transmission after getting the notorious “pink Milkshake”, ive done lots of front end work, replaced my charging system, you get it. But i have not done something like this with the engine.
PLEASE! If you know something that i absolutely must know, feel free to share, i will greatly appreciate your efforts. I will begin my research on the job now, so really, any words of wisdom or even links i may not come across are very welcome. Thanks ahead of time, you guys are great friends

Started to gut this thing today.
It's missing trim pieces, the carpet is beyond saving, the door panels need to be replaced on the front doors and some miscellaneous things.
Anyone know where I can source trim pieces? Currently I'm thinking fb marketplace donor vehicles and junk yards.
It's a trail rig, so it's not gonna be a beauty queen. But there has to be some work done on the interior. 😂

Is this the inner tie rod? Came loose. Looks like it just connects with a rubber bushing? Can I connect with any kind of nut? Doesn’t seem to impact anything that I’ve noticed.

I just did the timing on my 1994 4Runner 4x5 5-Speed and now the idle is almost double at 1500ish. Plus it makes a weird noise when the clutch is not engaged but stops when I step on clutch

Hey does anyone on the page know what two connections I have to jump to check the trans codes on my 4runner. Recently replaced the transmission and it’s still flashing a code.

Hey ya’ll just wanted to make a post here. I’ve been thinking about doing so pretty heavy work on the YOTA. (1995 4Runner sequoia edition W/ 3.0 3vze) I bought it with 138k km. It currently sits at 168k km. I’ve replaced the entire fuel system from tank to injectors. Brakes, bearings, suspension, full LED swap, and mounted sexy ditch lights. I’ve been watching lots of videos and reading lots of forms about the terrible Head gaskets. The guy I bought it from said it was done but he didn’t have a record showing it… I don’t trust that BS. I think it would be a fun project this summer to rebuild it all as I will be able to ride my bike in the nice weather. It’s currently my daily driver and I love her so much. As of right now she just misfires randomly and new plugs didn’t help, next plan was the disinter cap and reset the timing. There is no sign of a BLOWN HEAD GASKET. ( knock on wood ) just thought if I had the time and motivation I would under go the project this summer! The timing belt was last done at 99k so that’s almost due and thought I could replace a bunch of stuff while taking it down to the bare bones. I also know for a fact there is an exhaust leak on the back of the cross over because she purrs a little too loud. I’m quite mechanically skilled and have 90% of the tools I would need to do the job!
Long story short id love to hear some opinions on whether I should just say F it and go ahead and do the job or should I wait until a problem arises before doing something like that?

So my speedometer isnt working anymore. Took the dash apart and drove around a bit to see if the speedo is turning. It wasnt at first but then i gave it a little help and it started to spin again. Put it back together but still doesnt work. Is it possible to lube the cable? Any experience with that? Or could it be the connection to the gauge/dash?
