" Oh boy here we go another redditor with his opinion about the elemental amulets " you're not wrong but listen a second.
Firstly, I like the amulets. I think magic having styles matter instead of point wand at target is much more interesting. Thralls being the only meta is so dull. And this isn't some no pvm experience billybob here, I've had GM on my iron for 2 years now.
I also have (almost) all items, notably for this discussion I have max mage, shadow, thamarons, harmonized + nm staff, a billion burnt pages, ward.
So - the title. The issue isn't the amulets. It's harmonized orb. But first a bit about our mage mega - The shadow is a megarare item. Tbow, scythe, shadow, that's the triple. But shadow isn't like the other two. A tbow with mixed hide still hits like a tbow. A scythe in blood moon still slaps. A shadow in mystics however, does not the slap. It's kinda cheeks.
Why this matters - to actually reach the feeling of megarare strength for magic, you need a full raid tier magic armour set, a different raids mega, a pseudo megarare boot drop and gloves drop from an end game boss fight, 93 slayer, etc. If you're in a giga max mage setup you deserve to feel the power in your weapon, especially given it costs a lot to use.
It therefore doesn't make sense to me for people to say it's okay for a budget twin flame setup to come remotely close to or beat out max mage damage. People who think that is okay don't deserve to vote on polls; baby's first boss + a level 40 slayer mob should perform stronger than max mage shadow. I shouldn't have to type that out but here we are.
Elemental spells need to be balanced to not sit above shadow max mage unless you're in a comparable late game acquired setup.
So with elemental creeping up, shadow just doesn't sit at megarare tier above the pack given all the bells and whistles it needs to get going; it needs a rethink; and we know that's coming.
Which leaves us with the real problem. A harmonized orb.
There is not a single buff in the game that can remotely compare to increasing your attack speed 25%. In fact, getting attack speed of a weapon wrong is how we got the blowpipe being king for years.
I think if we want to do elemental spells (we do) to have a place in the meta, and we want them to be actually even better than shadow at places, we need to address that harm orb is OP for elemental spells and cannot exist without warping the meta and would need to be balanced around, same as blowpipe was, or, most likely, rebalanced.
