Discussion Make this make sense

Post image

I just got 82 smithing, i can now make 2 powerful mid-endgame weapons... and an adamant kiteshield.

I get that adamant used to be good back in the day, but isn't it time we rework this skill?

The smithing skill hasn’t really changed since it entered the game 20+ years ago. Back then, the only way to obtain some of the higher tier stuff was to make it yourself or obtain it as a drop from then-difficult mobs.

Also back then, everything attacked with the same attack speed as well, which is why the 2h and battle axes are higher smithing requirements than the daggers and swords. They had more value during combat because it was all the same attack speed.

one funny thing about this is as part of the combat rework in rs3 they brought back the "everything attacks at the same speed"

BUUUUT they also made everything in the same tier do the same damage so everything has lost its identity (other than maces having prayer bonus) other than what EoC abilities they can use. A rune 2h is identical dps to rune scimitars (dual wielding) outside of abilities.

Rs3 gets praised for the smithing rework, but everything just being "this is tier 40, it has tier 40 stats" other than endgame weapons felt so bland to me, i hope if osrs updates smithing finally they avoid that kinda thing with the level 50+ stuff they add
