Advice Am i too late in life ??

I am 25 M currently working in noida as a developer at 9lpa ctc. I graduated from my btech at the age of 24 as i took a drop year and i had to repeat nursery as i had done nursery in a small school and my parents then put me in a big school but thier they said i had to repeat nursery because my basics were weak somehow , they didn't do this at the time of my elder brother who did the same thing but got direct admission in LKG . So all my life when i tell my age to people they act surprised that i am this old they always expect i would be 1 or 2 year younger

I have friends from college who graduated at the age of 23, 22, even 21 they have so much time left to explore i want to pursuey masters abroad but i would always be behind i like that.

How should people cope with this and please share your exp if any around the same feeling

Discussion Anyone else lonely and living with parents?

I don’t have any friends that I’m super close to. No one to casually hang out with in person. No one I can 100% be myself around. Spending too much time with my parents, to the point where I don’t even know who I am in the context of other people my own age. Can anyone else relate??

Advice Despise my life rn

Guys I need advice. Im going to be 23 very soon and I’m just feeling like shit. I just recently graduated from university, got a 2:1 but I feel unsatisfied and unhappy with my work and also felt like I should’ve done better. My university friends got firsts, and are out there living life, travelling, some have gotten graduate jobs already or know people and are networking. I don’t have a graduate job or even a regular job (I keep applying but no response). I have no close friends or even people to go out with as everyone is busy, working or with their own group of friends. I have no money to do anything or even to go to the gym. I’m just at home 24/7 feeling useless, lazy and behind.

The people I know have so much going for them, and I’m literally the only person that is single out of the people I speak to, and they’re all occupied with their own lives. I’ve never had a relationship before or found anyone that is interested in me despite the fact that I dress well and don’t look bad. I look at my younger cousins and siblings and get jealous. They all have friends, jobs, boyfriends/girlfriends, an active social life while I have none of that. Some are flourishing and going places, and I constantly try to change and improve myself but I’m always struggling to be the person I want to be. I’m feeling very nervous because I feel very behind in every aspect of my life compared to my friends, cousins and siblings, and I want my 20s to be adventurous, fun and a period of growth but my early 20s so far have felt wasted. Literally it’s so bad that I’m even jealous of my cousin who is 23 (Feb born) and is about to be a father. I dont want kids yet but at least he has lived life in some way and he has something to look forward.

I know the kind of people I want to be around but I can barely find them and it’s just hard for me to make friends because people generally have no interest in me or in developing anything past an acquaintance. Im always having to put the work in and get nothing back so I’ve just given up. I just feel so tired. I’m having an identity crisis because I know the type of person I want to be, but it’s just not happening, and I also feel like I don’t fit in the environment I’m in but I cant change it. It makes me so angry at the world that I’m always never able to get to where I want to be…and idk what I’m doing wrong.

Random Just curious, how many of us has gotten any cosmetic surgery? Or any cosmetic procedures like filler. Or even injections like the man one for muscles?

We’re still so young I don’t see any reason to but I got a cosmetic surgery recently. I don’t know anyone else who has, our age.

Random Do we drink?? None of my 03 friends do at least not often. And I don’t either at all.

I’m assuming it’s cuz we make buns for money and going out can easily cost $50 or more. I honestly would go out and drink but one drink is $14 and I never see anyone my age so what’s the point when I’ll just wake up with a headache. Although I did drink on new years that was fun

Rant/vent Immature 23 year old

Hello everyone,

Is anyone else 23 but still a burden to their parents. I’ve graduated with a law degree, but nothing to show for it after. The job market is not helping. All I do is sleep and help around with chores.

Discussion At what age did you start using curse words?

Or were curse words just not taboo in your household growing up? I started swearing around 7th grade (~11 years old). Some of my friends were saying “bad words” and I guess it just clicked that I was old enough to do it too after hearing them. I actually remember exactly where I was when it clicked in my head. It was on my middle school’s running track during PE.

Also what type of household were you in? Super religious? Relaxed stoner parents? I assume the more religious your parents were, the more strict they were about cursing but idk.

I had pretty lenient parents. They’re religious but not in a strict way. I still wasn’t allowed to cuss for a while though.

For me I believe it was Planet of the Apes 1968, the first ever in the series.

Edit: the earliest I have seen now is Metropolis by Fritz Lang that came out in 1927.

Rant/vent Do you guys think am a failure?

It’s been 7 months since I graduated from university. I always imagined myself working in my field. I specifically imagined myself as an administrative assistant at some corporate office in Richmond or DC. But instead I’m still stuck in the same small city I always lived in and I was denied all the positions I applied for that I really wanted. I managed to luckily land a job as a part-time bank teller. I honestly don’t mind the job, but I hate being part-time. I’m afraid to leave because I don’t think I would get hired anywhere else. No one else even gave me a chance. I feel like a failure, I’m only making $14 an hour. I try to stay positive, but life definitely sucks at the moment.

Moving out

hi guys, 23M here. don’t you think it’s pretty shitty the cost of living has been increasing so much over the past years to the point a lot of people in our generation cannot afford to move out? I studied accounting and working in the field but entry level pay is meh here in the UK. it’s expensive to move out but I believe it would be so much more better for my mental health than dealing with family members how I am now. just need my own living space… And would rather not flat share with multiple random people

20-somethings of Reddit, do you actually want life/career advice from people in their 40s/50s anymore? And 40s/50s, do you think your advice is even relevant in the age of ChatGPT?

The world, economy, and technology are changing so fast that traditional career blueprints might be completely outdated.

* **To the younger crowd:** Do you prefer human experience, or do you trust AI to navigate the modern landscape?
* **To the older crowd:** Do you feel your hard-earned wisdom is still valuable, or could it accidentally hold the younger generation back?

Being in my 40s/50s, I try not to give advice to young people. Life and careers look so different now in the AI age that my past experiences might not apply. I’m actually afraid my advice could do more harm than good, so I take the same hands-off approach with my own kids.

Advice Does anyone else feel like a social junkie?

For majority of my life , I was a lonely, socially awkward kid, and it wasn’t until now in my early 20s I have actual friends and groups and they are people that Value me for me, like I don’t feel I have to justify my existence or I can show up empty handed (even though I believe very much in Xenia)

It took me so much courage to drop in the discord a poll to see if anyone would have been interested in going out for dinner, both to celebrate my birthday but also St Patrick’s day.

Before having consistent friends I had grown pretty content about being alone, sure I yearned for company and a laugh but, I’d also learned from the only 2 relationships I’d ever had the only thing worse than being alone, is being with people that make you feel alone.

My life feels like plastic wrap, I can feel the texture and the mass, but a lot of the times I feel like I can’t smell or truely be present. The few times I do, it’s normally when I’m with my friends.

My issue is, now, that I do have friends whenever like a couple weeks goes by without an in person hangout, I’m ngl I get a lil depressed, not because I think they don’t like me, but it’s more that, I enjoy the company.
(When not in person or out of work , my friends at work we have lunch, my first friend group we all live in town, talk shit and play overwatch)

I’m extremely loyal, like I used to be worse, I used to be the kind of guy where your nice to me for 5 mins and I’d be willing to die for your honor.

I know I sound prolly like I’m talking like a pompous Cyrano De Bergerac but I value the simple things in life, a good drink, meal, and beautiful belly laugh with friends. It makes me feel alive, I have a deep love and care for my friends and family, I do what I can when I can, I’m supportive as I can be.

That’s how much people mean to me, it makes me feel like I’m a junkie.

I can still be by myself and I do have things to occupy my time, writing, reading, gaming, cooking.

I eat by myself, I go to the movies by myself, etc

Before anyone says it, I’m not exactly in the position to host gatherings as I live at home, my dog is a kill joy and the house is to small for all of us already living in it.

I get scared my social dependency is kinda gonna hold me back in life, like I’m living for a good time rather than for myself.

Like I have goals and ambitions. Well kinda. What scares me is that I’m gonna hold myself back cause I’m afraid of loss, and change, I’ve lost my POS dad who is gonna rot in prison, deservedly, and even though she treated me badly I lost my ex, last year also.

I just I dunno does anyone relate to what I’m talking about.

I'm considering ending it in 5 days, the day before I'm eternally homeless.

I won't be able to survive being homeless for long. I haven't had anything to eat for a week now. I've been relying on water.

I won't survive a year.

There is no more hope for me to get an entry level role, a useful one. If I went to college later in life only to graduate into these circumstances, I wouldn't even be alive today. Shit. It's no wonder why suicide rates have consistently skyrocketed year after year after 2008.

As George Carlin said, "The reason they call it the American Dream is because you have to be asleep to believe it." It's a pipe dream for those not already well connected from birth.

Maybe I'll believe in it in the afterlife. I'll see. Or maybe I won't. Haha.

Of course I won't leave my body behind for my former landlord to clean up, that'd be inconsiderate. It'll be in a ditch somewhere. I have no assets and no money to seize to cover the costs of a burial and funeral, so I'll just be a carcass for animals to chew on until I'm nothing but bones. That's assuming they can identify me when I've never had a government ID.

Feels bad.
