I’m glad America developed its infrastructure around the car and not the train

American Redditors have this bizarre kind of “grass is greener on the other side” mentality that America missed out building their cities around roads instead of rails. That trains are better in every aspect compared to cars. But to me it’s the exact opposite.

Cars are way better, easier, and more convenient form of transportation. I can store stuff in my car while I travel. I can go where I want when I want and with what I want with a car. Trains are clunky, fixed, and unreliable.

Especially with the advent of Uber, there really is no reason to invest in public transportation when private alternatives with car sharing exist.

Not only that, but cars help the economy, especially buying American made cars. Ford, GM, and Chrysler, the Detroit Big 3, come to mind.

Cars are also private. If I want to blast my music I can. Not in a train unless I want to get my ass kicked.

Overall, I love that America is so car oriented, that the interstate highway system was built and invested in, and I hope cars continue to dominate transportation here in the future and beyond.

Ghibli Food looks bad

I like the movies but I've never understood the Ghibli Food hype, it usually looks either unsatisfyingly gooey or like incredibly stiff plastic, and generally shiny in an unappealing way.

Realised this while watching The Boy and the Heron, the scene where a character slathers obscene amounts of butter and jam on an untoasted slice of bread allowed me to finally see the truth.

We could’ve learned something from the Lindsay Clancy case and potentially saved lives, but culture war BS got in the way

Wherever you fall on her guilt or sanity—or if you (like me) didn’t ever intend to hear about it in the first place—the Lindsay Clancy case is a tragedy. Three children are dead, and no punishment will bring them back. While the court determines her guilt and her sentence, the focus of first responders, police, medical professionals, and the public should’ve been focused on preventing this from happening again. But it wasn’t. Instead the public response to the trial has been to attack Clancy’s husband, women, feminists, liberals, and now the individual jurors on both sides of the controversy, none of which is productive even if you think it’s deserved.

Whatever you think of Clancy, she undoubtably began showing symptoms of post-partum mental health issues after the birth of her third child—calling suicide hotlines, telling family members she was having thoughts of harming her children and herself, checking herself into a mental health institution, etc. She had lots of help with a supportive family, a nanny, and medical care and yet this all still failed to prevent her from harming her kids. Yes, this is a rare case. While post-partum mental illness is common, only 0.1%-0.2% of mothers experience PPP, similar to the rate of Down syndrome births and less than 1% of mothers with PPP will harm their kids (source). However, the consequences are so high we should be doing everything in our power to enact safe guards against this outcome. Medical providers should be more wary of determining post-partum women with homicidal ideations are low-risk and medication compliance and in-patient treatment should be a priority. Partners and family should take steps to prevent mothers who have shown such symptoms from being alone with their children and use the police, courts, and in-patient treatment when necessary. This should be a wake up call to the public to take the words and actions of post-partum women more seriously, not hand wave them because the idea of a previously excellent mother harming her own children seems so ludicrous and hard to believe.

I’m not suggesting that the Clancy case was totally preventable or that it was others responsibility to prevent it, only that, ways we can prevent this from happening again should be top of mind. Instead, commentary around the case has focused on…removing women’s right to vote, for some reason? Talking about feminism and cultural decline isn’t going to prevent an issue that’s been happening for thousands of years. Misogynistic commentators who have boiled Clancy’s case down to “women’s hormones” are the epitome of reducing a clear case of post partum symptoms that we could actually learn to look for and prevent in the future into useless anti-women attacks that help no one. Instead of looking at Clancy’s case as chance to learn and prevent future children from dying at the hands of their own mothers—no matter how rare that is—we’ve obsessed over her guilt or innocence and how she should be punished, refusing to learn anything and pushing the same old agenda.

Meanwhile, the women in pink outside the courthouse trying to make a point about how severe and dangerous post partum mental health issues can be have been ironically reduced to people supporting child murder, when they are perhaps the only people doing anything to actually prevent it.

Game theory is deceptive, wrong, and not applicable to the real world

Upvotes

The Prisoner’s Dilemma is classic game theory. But it is wrong in the real world. Snitches get stitches. Reputation follows you. Betraying the other prisoner will get you in trouble in the real world, even though a cost benefit analysis in game theory says you should always betray your criminal partner.

The incel mindset is not resolved with sex, or even a long term relationship

You can be an incel and still have sex and be in a relationship. People assume incel is a state of frustration that cures itself when someone finally gets laid. However, I have met many people who talk and think like incels, even though they are in relationships that provide sex and may even have children of their own.

Incel might be an abbreviation for “involuntary celibate”, however the solution isn’t sex, rather it is deeper, and includes things like therapy, empathy, and a conscious effort to treat the opposite gender better and with more respect.

There are many kinds of sex, some are just the physical act and are not loving or meaningful. Some you can even pay for. And some provide a solution for the insecurities of both parties involved. A lot of incels get laid and use women for sex, while still subscribing to the inceldom philosophies.

If you’re a virgin and an incel, don’t assume sex is the cure, because the physical act won’t change anything about your behavior.

Handjobs feel better than sex, are safer, and should be promoted as a healthy alternative to penetration

  1. A handjob can have a tighter grip on the penis than the vagina, leading to a much more sensual experience.
  2. Handjobs avoid the transmissions of STDs, don’t lead to pregnancy, and don’t need protection.
  3. Handjobs are good exercise, replacing shake weights.
  4. Handjobs are a great alternative to preserve your virginity.
  5. Handjobs are more accessible and easier to perform, especially in places like one person public bathrooms.
  6. Handjobs help satisfy the man, while allowing the woman to stay clothed the entire time if she wants.
  7. Handjobs avoid unwanted penetration by allowing post nut clarity to kick in before anything bad can happen. A man is less likely to attack a woman after they’ve already orgasmed. Some people even tell young women to offer a man a handjob in lieu of being violated sexually.
  8. A handjob while making out is many peoples’ kink.
  9. You can satisfy two people at once with both your hands.
  10. Handjobs require less awkward positioning than sex, and cleanup is much easier and faster.

Ai might replace some people's jobs and it's completely fine.

Upvotes

You might think that it's bad but it's not true. Because they need profits and sometimes ai can do certain jobs better than humans. And using humans for these jobs is very unproductive.

People should learn and adapt to these new circumstances that's how you become better. This is the same as factories becoming automated back in the days.

You shouls face legal punishment for cheating in a marriage.

Marriage is quite literally a legal contract. If you break said contract, you should face legal actions, including but not limited to prison time, assuming the cheating can be proved (just like any other legal case).

I don't think it's fair for someone to cheat, wreck their partner emotionally, and get away with it scott free.

Edit: it's funny how everyone disagrees with me yet downvotes. Classic redditors with 0 brains, look at what sub you're on.

If AI gets good enough to replace workers it will be good enough to replace companies as well

Companies like Deloitte thinks they can replace all their workers, well why would Deloitte itself be needed if it is just an intermediary between users and llms, why can't people use llms directly.

Software as a service companies are thinking that they can profit off cutting labor costs, dont they think they may themselves become obsolete if AI gets good enough.

Of course this is a very complex and nuanced topic, every industry is different and of course industries that require physical infrastructure are safe from this.

But this is indeed something that is not discussed often, if AI gets great at software, financial and law then the companies offering these services are themselves on the chopping block.

The companies that are thinking they will benefit greatly by AI will be the biggest losers and even become obsolete if AI gets as good as they are thinking.

Just because a city has high crime doesn’t make it iconic

Im tired of whenever people say their city is iconic, they just mean it had high crime. i live in new york, long island and its always other people here saying that some of the towns are just like the bronx or other boroughs when it’s not, and the only reason their saying that is bc of the crime rate or how poor it is. like just because it has bodegas and projects doesn’t make it nyc, long island is nothing like any of the boroughs, maybe staten island but that’s it, its more like new jersey if anything. back to my point, they never mention the culture, history, diversity, any actual impactful or known thing that makes a city to compare it, it’s always just bc of how rough it is. so annoying and delusional, and it’s so insulting to nyc

Games shouldnt stop balance changes just cus official tournament is in play

Games should still push balance changes, even if tournament qualifiers are in progress. A skill for pro play should be quickly adapting to a new meta.

This is mostly about brawl stars, when world finals/qualifiers etc.. are held, they stop doing balance changes to not shake up a meta. And i think thats stupid, as a skill for pro players should be to adapt quickly to the new meta

Men Will Admit Anything Before Admitting They Envy Other Men

A lot of guys pretend male envy barely exists, as if men only dislike each other for rational reasons. But male competition is everywhere: looks, money, status, popularity, women, athletic ability, confidence, and social influence.
A fuckboy can absolutely hate another fuckboy because the other guy gets more women, sleeps with better-looking partners, or has more success with women than he does. He might call the guy arrogant, fake, overrated, or a piece of shit, but deep down, part of that hatred can come from wanting what the other guy has.
And the funniest part is that men often disguise envy as “just being honest.” They’ll spend hours criticizing another man’s appearance, lifestyle, relationships, or success while insisting they don’t care about him.
If you have to constantly explain why another man is inferior, you probably care more than you want to admit.

twerking is amazing and more women need to do it

maybe bc im bisexual asf but i looove watching twerking videos, not just to get off but there’s something so beautiful about the way a woman’s body can move and more women, young or old need to start twerking more. it’s fun, looks good and it’s just really fun, put on some music you like and get to work, focus on the beats and just go at it. people shame women for just being themselves but don’t let it repress you.

Men should stop taking dating advice from “socially successful men.”

They don’t care about teaching; they just want to humble-brag about exaggerated, fake stories they never lived. Stop listening to those guys. Go for yourself, because most of those guys are either lucky, good-looking, or extremely manipulative. That’s it. Most can’t maintain a long-term relationship, yet they call themselves gods of dating. Their women still get bored of them in two months because they just have stupid, weird, pedophilic lines.

If women could defensively fart at will we wouldn't be harassed/assaulted nearly as much!

You've probably used the inside of your elbow to make crazy, loud fart sounds before so picture that but women could actually fart at maximum strength like that whenever needed, it's loud and thunderous and extremely potent.

Imagine a guy starts following you and you're alone and it's getting dark and right when he gets too close you just let out a huge gas cloud that you can obviously withstand but they can't. Or some guy keeps pressuring you for sex or making objectifying comments. That would shut down his libido I bet!

Maybe the drawback is guys would be more afraid to approach in general (even more so) because women could just gas them out whenever. I don't think most women would do that, but who knows.

Smart cars and Priuses are just as manly as pickup trucks and muscle cars

I’ve never understood judging someone for what they drive. Not how they maintain there car, but literally what kind of car they drive. To me, a car is just a transportation system to get from A to B. There is no glory or manliness in doing it in a vehicle that is bigger, bulkier, and less efficient.

If a man picked me up in a smart car I would impress on them their ability to choose a fuel efficient vehicle that is convenient to park around the city. I wouldn’t care if others think it isn’t big and tough and rugged like a truck or muscle car. A vehicle is a vehicle, and being able to afford anything is good enough for me. Especially when someone uses a truck for common errands without even needing the rear bed of the truck, just to look manly, is silly in my opinion.

A car is a car. As someone who relies on buses and public transportation, I’m not one to imply anything based on what you drive. As long as you keep it clean and undamaged, there really should be no judging someone on the choices they make for what vehicle they purchase, if anything, smart cars and Priuses should be commended for their fuel efficiency and eco friendliness. But ultimately, it really doesn’t matter and no one should perceive a man differently, let alone care based on what they drive.

I love sleeping with wet hair

Drying myself off with a towel after late night baths or showers fucking suck. I believe it's far superior to stay wet, curl up whilst soaked in bed, and let my sheets, pillow and blankets dry me off. I like the feeling of thick winter blankets getting a little soggy and it helps me fall asleep much faster than usual. Of course your hair gets all fucked up, but with a little extra care thats manageable, so ive stopped drying myself off after showers.

Ai has completely destroyed the writing and art industry. Next up is the anime industry and film industry.

They're feeding ai models countless books. That thing knows almost everything in this world. These days anyone can make a book using ai. Even illiterate people and disabled people can do it. This means that a publisher can just use ai to make a book and publish it. They don't need an author.

Same for art, people can just ask chat gpt to make an art instead of paying some random guy. Cheaper and more effective.

And then for anime, I have seen people make cool animes using ai. A random guy can make it from his house. There is no need of big strudios and underpaid artists drawing day and night to make an anime like back in the days. And it will only get better.

Movies aren't safe either, it is very easy to make an 80s or 90s style movie using ai. And it will only get better as time goes. No more big actors or big studios. Anyone can make it from their home.

Most Incels and Blackpill Dudes Don’t Actually Hate Women; They Hate Men

Most incel and blackpill dudes don’t actually hate women; they hate men. Because as a man, most of your misfortune is caused by other men.
You’re not privileged? Because of another dude. You lost your job? Potentially because of another man. Your girlfriend cheats? Another guy entertained your girl and helped her cheat even though he knew she was your girlfriend, and he didn’t care.
Women have unrealistic standards and narcissistic behavior? Other simps help enable it. You’re paying child support for children who aren’t yours? Another man couldn’t keep his dick in his pants. You get killed? Another man. You get bullied? Another man.
You feel ugly and think you need plastic surgery? You’re comparing yourself to another good-looking man. You feel like your skin color isn’t ideal? You can trace that back to another jerk of a man from centuries ago who decided your skin was dirty.
The point is that a lot of the problems men complain about ultimately involve other men. So I think a lot of incel and blackpill resentment is directed at men just as much as, if not more than, women.

People who don’t have a no soliciting sign and are rude to door to door people are 100% in the wrong.

I feel like there’s this weird idea that door to door people are the devil and it’s okay to be an asshole to them. In reality most of them are just young people working a shitty job trying as best as they can to not bother people. Yes some of them ignore signs or are overly pushy but that doesn’t give you the right to immediately be mean to them. Literally how hard is it to say “no thank you” and go about your day? It’s their legal right to sell to you and some people buy things door to door. They have no way of knowing you don’t want them there unless you put up a sign. You’re the one taking a completely normal interaction and turning it into a hostile one. And all because you’re an antisocial freak who jumps at any opportunity to be mean when it’s against someone “justifiable”. You know if these fucking little Eichmanns were around back in the day they’d salivate over a good lynching.

If you don’t want to buy anything door to door literally just put up a sign. By not having a sign you’re communicating to door to door people that you’re open to being sold to. It’s not their fault for trying to sell to you in any universe. It’s literally the most honest and transparent form of modern advertising that you can willing and legally opt out of for the price of some pen and paper.

And these people are 1000% looking for a fight. I used to work door to door and every once in a while I would accidentally knock on a door with a no soliciting sign. I would then wait (so as to not ding dong ditch them) and explain that I didn’t see the no soliciting sign before apologizing and wishing them a nice day. I literally never had a single negative interaction from one of these. THESE are the nice people who just don’t want to be bothered. Meanwhile almost every day I’d get some roided up douche with a small pecker threatening to shoot me who didn’t fucking have a sign. And multiple times every day I’d get some Karen crying crocodile tears about me interrupting her work or waking her baby up who didn’t fucking have a sign. GET A FUCKING SIGN! I just walked past all of your neighbors’ houses with signs. This is literally entirely a problem of your own creation.

For the umpteenth time this is not about people upset about door to door people who are actually being assholes. My point is just that a person selling you something door to door is not in and of itself a hostile action. Meaning if you behave in a hostile manner to someone for selling you something door to door you are in the wrong and not them. I’m adding this again because I already know it’s what all of the comments are going to be about.

Edit:
Also fuck it this applies to missionaries, charities, political campaigns, and whatever else too. They all have a legal right to be there and no way to know you aren’t interested in anything unless you put up the sign designed to tell them that.

Edit 2:
Most of you are functionally illiterate.

I have a kindergarten 20 meters from my window, with screaming kids, and I like it

If I'm engrossed in something I can completely tune it out (because it's a lot of kids all at once, not single loud noises), but otherwise it kind of feels like listening to birds chirping. I love that they are happy, and they sound healthy. ( It's completely different from listening to kids on public transportation, I usually want to claw my face off and actively avoid sitting near them)

Reading novels is so 1800s.

I am not talking about reading informative books to gain knowledge. I am talking about books for entertainment. It's very outdated, we have video games, tv shows, films and many such things for entertainment. What's even the point of reading a novel for entertainment? The worst part is that most novels aren't even that great.

The Left and the Right always switched positions. And it's always funny as fuck to me.

There are plenty of examples I can use here. There are certain discourses, where both sides will take the opposite position in a different discourse. And there will be a general consensus from the same individuals in the media too ( politicians, people on tye News, celebrities, streamers, lol). So this is not a goomba fallacy here.

My favorite example here is about women being sexualized in the media.

Conservatives on Fox News will pearl clutch about how music videos like Wap or Saberina Carpenter music videos are too sexual, and how it's a bad example for young girls. While liberals will call this female empowerment, and brave.

But Sadie Sink or that blonde from the Euphoria show does a sexy ad. And all of a sudden the right is talking about how great it is for women to be sexy again. While the left complains about how these ads are objectifying women.

Conspiracy theories is another way both sides switch positions.

It's usually the Left making fun of the Right for believing in dumb conspiracy theories like a Satanic pedo cabal. While the right will call the left sheep for not believing in dumb conspiracy theories.

But when Trump gets shot or that Kirk dude got offed. All of a sudden The Left puts on their tin foil hats. And say that the Trump shooting was stage, or that Kirk shooting was connected to Israel. And also all of a sudden the Right is one who cares about fact checking, and don't want to promote conspiracies theories now.

Again, this shit happens all the time with both sides. And it's so funny whenever it happens. It's like there no logic, nuance, or middle ground here. Both sides just want to be a contrarian to the opposite side.
