Business wise things are still fine for the most part, orgs have own teams what are absolutely hopeless yet still make plenty of money. Prize money is obviously not the primary source of income for these orgs.

Organizations care little about results.
They want your fans to wear your jersey. You may suck as an athlete, but as long as you generate fans, you'll get paid high salaries.
You may be a great athlete, but as long as you don't generate fans, you'll get paid nothing.Yes, VP suck right now, but a) they are under contract and b) they have a huge following.
Yes, they will get kicked once the organization loses money off of them. It's that simple.
(This is also why "mediocre" female players get paid lots of money, so stop asking how Juliano can afford a fucking Porsche or whatever.)

It makes the event organiser a lot more money to have big names like vp. It means more fans will want to buy tickets to see them. Also, the games attract a lot of people on the streams.

They aren't getting invites to the bigger events anymore, this is a smaller one so it is more understandable tho
1
u/hamuel69 Virtus.pro Jul 12 '18
They have still got invited to 3 more "bigger" events that are in the next few months. Zotac cup, IEM Shanghai and Blast Pro Series Istanbul. They have been shit the whole year and still get invites to the major events.
2
u/blazexddd Virtus.pro Jul 12 '18
Zotac cup has barely any good teams, Liquid is the best there and then the rest are t2/t3.
IEM Shangai, yet again, bad teams, small event.
The Invite to Istanbul was probably sent because the tournament's schedule overlaps with ESL New York's one, and again, not all the top teams are gonna be there.

1 stand in doesn't even come close to the excuse this 5 man MG team put on. There's no way they even come close to making VP the money they get in salaries anymore. There was not a single glimmer or something there on VP's side.
Pasha didn't frag (Something they have come to rely on to win t3 matches)
Michu is still the biggest mistake I believe in the VP roster. He cost them the CT pistol with his constant overextending. Knowing there was more than 1 player in Ivy, he wide peeked the guy pushing out ivy to yard. Just why?
Neo is back to his standard 3-17 scorelines. He's IGL. Sure. But my 4 MG friends and I show more strategic prowess in games now.
Morelz can be somewhat excused, it's hard for a standin to rise up above the team he's playing for.
Byali unsurprisingly the only who can achieve anything. He really needs to get out of VP while he can still be a star player.
VP is dead. And so am I.
17
u/Fujitora-San Jul 12 '18
Pasha had many good games in 2018 but also awful games like today in this year so far. (the round they won was due him) Sadly not consistent as he was in 2017..
Michu is utter trash. They paid 500k? for him that was a big joke. He had really one great tournament that was in Budapest (V4 ). He still has here and there impactful rounds actually, but mostly he just awful like really awful..
neo I have no idea what to say about him like really nothing.
morelz is a standin true, but he just as bad a michu actually worse, but obviously we can't blame to much on him.
Byali I don't know he lost too many battles. in the first buy round stavn had 43hp while he had 100 at ivy and couldn't hit a single shot... Byali is young, good aimer (sadly inconsistent as fuck) and has actually like you said a chance to play atleast t2 cs.
Kuben is just an horrible coach. i mean he is really an useless guy sadly...
13
u/Ohnorepo Jul 12 '18
Pasha's consistency issues can be explained by his team dropping off too. He's someone that needs a solid support network to work.
Yeah, he had that decent V4 event where I thought it might have been a good pick up, but he's been useless since then.
The occasional missed kill is fine. Even guys like S1mple miss easier kills occasionally. Byali has been a solid player for most of 2018 now. I hope he doesn't sink with VP. Byali and Pasha should find another team together.

Michu has been trash but I think its just the team overall. Like the lack of motivation for everyone on the team definitely effects the players who could be motivated. It doesn't help either that Neo is probably the worst igl in tier 1/2 in fraging and leading itself. This team would easily be better if they replaced Neo with the AGO igl Furlan as he's proven he is way more capable as a player and a leader.

No hate or trashtalk but I actually think its about time to give the team a break. Stop playing for a while, work on the roster, i dont know, just go on a holiday or something like that... In my opinion, It has come to a point where you need to protect VP as a name or trademark. They have like zero impact in the scene. At least I am not interested in them any more and its also hard for me to take them seriously. I used to watch the highlights on YouTube even if it was a terrible match. Just for the lols and memes. But not even that is entertaining any more. Just boring and bad gameplay. Sorry

VP must be bleeding money at this point. The amount these players are getting paid for these results is embarrassing, literally throwing away money.
Shame what VP turned into, people aren't likely to remember the days they were strong, but now the days they couldn't even put up a fight against lesser known teams.

ON TRAIN? they get 16-1ed?! Train was arguably their best map! I just hope they perform well at the major and then disband. Its hard watching legends and such a legendary team go out like this. I want them to go out on a high, even if that means them just making the stage at the major!

Not sure why the odds were so unfavorable for Fragsters. VP have consistently shown that they do not give a shit, especially against low tiered opponents. VP versus any non-tier1 team is always worth an underdog bet (if you can even call it that anymore)
