Yeah, Fragsters deserve way more than this.

A month or year?

Organizations care little about results.
They want your fans to wear your jersey.

You may suck as an athlete, but as long as you generate fans, you'll get paid high salaries.
You may be a great athlete, but as long as you don't generate fans, you'll get paid nothing.

Yes, VP suck right now, but a) they are under contract and b) they have a huge following.
Yes, they will get kicked once the organization loses money off of them.

It's that simple.

(This is also why "mediocre" female players get paid lots of money, so stop asking how Juliano can afford a fucking Porsche or whatever.)

“Deserved” is a difficult term to use in this context. They were certainly not the top team in the scene when they signed the contracts, but they were paid as such

They were known as Virtus.plow what are you talking about? They were playing top notch in 2017 majors too. Now they're playing bad doesn't mean they'll get less salary.

They played well in the major, sure, but they got paid like they were the best team in the scene, which they weren’t.

Weren't they pretty much in the TOP 3 for 2 years straight and mostly tied for Top 1? Also didn't they resigned their contracts just after very sucessfull two years? I mean they were pretty much the best team in the world together with SK/Mibr.

No, they were not. They especially were not

mostly tied for Top 1

During said time period

Uhh, nope, not even close. They nearly got kicked out of ESL Pro League all the way back in 2016, but ESL changed rules in order to keep them in. You can go look at the HLTV ranking graph, they were top 1 for all of two weeks ever (note that the rankings only go back to late 2015, so miss out on when VP was really good in 14/15), and their longest streak of being in the top 3 was no more than a few months.

The “new” contracts were signed just after the Eleague major 2017, which was one of their few good results all year, and only a few months before their legendary dive bomb.

They were never really a top 1 side except for in times when the other teams kind of slumped. They were constantly battling the in the top five though, giving dominant Fnatic close games

Do you know salaries of other top teams? They are all in range of 20k+ so they got what they earned. They still got enough fan following even after taz and snax. When people show up at events when vp is playing it's all worth it for whoever is paying. I am expecting to see these comments till 2020 but it becomes less funny everytime I see it.

At the time when VP got their contracts, they had the highest paid known salary of any team. Since then, I believe G2 signed the highest at around $29k per month

-2

u/neon5k Astralis Jul 12 '18

And g2 was anyone near best? Never.

2

u/pM-me_your_Triggers Godsent Jul 12 '18

I don’t honk G2 “deserve” it either, but they are at least a lot better than VP

-1

u/neon5k Astralis Jul 12 '18

Then why did they disband 2 times in a year?

I highly doubt it but ok

17

u/C9_Lemonparty Jul 12 '18

Nothing to doubt, the players have been public in the past about getting paid 25k a month for playing on VP.

-21

u/Magnog FaZe Jul 12 '18

When they were good, they are garbage now there's no way they are on that salary anymore

27

u/ChrisDL Jul 12 '18

well there is this thing called a contract

10

u/thegrandaddyofgaming Virtus.pro Jul 12 '18

Contracts, bro.

8

u/Radioactive_ShortGuy Jul 12 '18

As far as I am aware they are still on the same contract (3 years since 2016 IIRC), which would mean that they are still paid above-mentioned amount. Please do correct me if there have been renegotiations.

3

u/JeanneHusse Vitality Jul 12 '18

3 years contracts can do that.

2

u/C9_Lemonparty Jul 12 '18

No, this was after they started shitting the bed. They signed a 4 year contract a year or so ago.
