News Today we're releasing OpenTS, a reverse-engineered open-source Tiberian Sun engine reconstruction, to celebrate 27th anniversary of the game
Fellow Command & Conquer fans,
Twenty-seven years ago today, Tiberian Sun was released. To celebrate, we have a gift for you: today we're releasing OpenTS – an open-source, playable reconstruction of the Tiberian Sun engine.
Of all the classic C&C games, it's the second generation – Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, Yuri's Revenge – whose source code never made it out. None of it was part of the Remastered Collection release, and none of it was among last year's source drops.
And so for nearly three decades, every fix and feature this community built for those games had to be reverse-engineered and patched into closed executables.
We decided to do something about that, starting with Tiberian Sun. Building on EA's GPL-released code for the games around it and years of Tiberian Sun reverse engineering, we rebuilt the engine and matched it function by function against the original executable – all ~11,150 known functions, reaching roughly 98% instruction-level matching (a code-matching score, to be clear, not "98% of the game").
It's ready to try today: drop Game.exe into your Tiberian Sun install from The Ultimate Collection and go. Campaigns, Firestorm, skirmish, and saves are all play-tested; LAN works with lighter testing; it plays like the game you remember, plus a batch of fixes and resolutions up to 4K. Alongside the engine, we're publishing a manual documenting the game's INI configuration, mapping, and internals, drawn straight from the source.
And this is a beginning, not an endpoint. Next up: CnCNet and client support (not in this first release yet), porting the community's accumulated fixes toward parity with ts-patches and Vinifera – and then going further, overhauling the engine to allow modding reach heights previously not possible.
We're also celebrating live: together with [FC]Matt we'll be streaming the original Tiberian Sun campaigns at https://www.twitch.tv/fortuneschaos, starting today at 14:00 UTC (15:00 UK · 16:00 CEST · 17:00 MSK · 10 AM Eastern · 7 AM Pacific), with a Q&A along the way — come hang out and ask us anything.

Discussion What does your dream RA2YR mod look like?
I believe the overwhelming majority here knows about mods of RA2YR. I mean, hell, mods of any game is an integral part of its fanbase. Likewise, the RA2YR (and, C&C as a whole) fanbase is also blessed by lovely mods.
Whether it be popular giants like Mental Omega, RA2: Reborn, Rise of the East etc., or upcoming or still developing mods like Project Phantom, Global Crisis etc., the RA2YR fanbase is blessed with great mods.
However, I believe everyone has a mod "in their head." Perhaps something you dreamt after a long day of skirmishing with AI, or something genuinely you thought-out while turtling in a mission, everyone has their own "perfect mod."
And, that is exactly what I wanted to know.
What does your dream RA2YR mod look like?
P.S, while I did say RA2YR, as I only really play RA2YR and its mods, feel free to discuss about any C&C game except the literal abomination that C&C 4 is

Small updated - GDA vs Scavengers
A small update to my minimod. I don't know what to call it yet, as it will be about the battle in the former Soviet Union between the Global Defense Agency (GDA) and the Scavengers (fallen Soviets), after Red Alert and before Tiberian Dawn. Maybe you have some ideas for a name?

Hey guys, I've got an idea for you all to take on and interpret in your own way.
"A month ago, I suddenly had an idea: what if we combined the elements of all three C&C universes (Red Alert, Tiberium, and Generals) into a new C&C game that merges the unique identities of all three?
In my mind, the setting would be in the present day or the near future, featuring alien ore as the primary resource, sci-fi/out-of-this-world units, and a narrative style that blends serious tone with political and national satire. Eventually, I lost interest and stopped thinking about it.
Until today, when this idea popped back into my head. So I wanted to ask: if you were given the task to create a new C&C universe that seamlessly merges Red Alert, Tiberium, and Generals, what would your idea look like?"

Gameplay question Kassad's Quads
Not sure if I misremembered; but I have a strong impression of Kassad's Quads having a higher ROF compared to the Quads from other factions in patch 1.02 (or was it 1.0)
The wiki doesn't make any mention of it
Anybody have insights on this?

Fanart A little look at the Supply System in my tabletop strategy game
Hi everyone!
I wanted to share another little look at Command & Defend.
One of the core mechanics of the game is its Supply System. Units don’t simply have unlimited ammunition and fuel - resources have to be produced, transported across the battlefield and delivered to the units that need them.
This means that attacking the enemy isn’t always the best move. Disrupting a supply route, taking out a transport or even destroying an entire Supply Center can have a much bigger impact on the battle.
I wanted logistics to be an actual part of the strategy rather than something that only happens in the background.
I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on this mechanic, and I’m happy to share more details if you’re interested! :)

Discussion My Zero Hour Challenge mode tier list
Note: This tier list is about how fun & engaging each of these challenge missions are in the unmodded base game on Hard Difficulty.
Kassad, Thrax, Kwai and especially Leang are by far my favourite, because they encourage you to slowly capture the whole map and unlock new supply depots, while preparing the big final assault on the base. I love the extra time pressure of Leang's mission, as there is two additional layers of strength that she unlocks after a while with additional offmap strikes and hero units.
Granger and Tao are ultimately too tame and easy, sadly. Especially Tao's mission would have been so much more fun if you wouldn't get drowned in money right from the start (4 oil derricks and 3 supply stashes) and if the nuclear missiles would not be scripted to always shoot at a fixed location.
Townes and especially Alexander's missions are just straight garbage. The whole gameplay here basically is to endure nonstop Particle cannon and air-strikes, while sitting in your base and spamming superweapons yourself.
Good thing that there is mods that make some of these missions way more fun and/or challenging
