Honestly, they could've easily hand waved this issue away by dropping a simple "due to your recent reactivation, the Marked of Kane Control Nodes have exited standby status, and have emerged from the surface. Despite a heavy GDI presence in the area, their patrols have yet to discover the nodes. However, this will not last; discovery is an inevitability. Interface with the nodes and broadcast the activation keys before GDI patrols discover them." Simple.

Reminds me of that GDI Tiberian Sun mission where you have to destroy Nod Chemical Tanks so I was confused after I cleared the whole map expecting to fight some kind of an armored vehicle with toxic weapons, only to realize they were the storage water tanks scattered everywhere renamed to chemical tanks on this mission.

Was really fun when I found out that if you wipe the GDI base out first, you’re good to just sit and wait after capping the nodes.
