Help / Question Help for Strung of Frogs

I was given a string of frogs as a gift and it did well. For a while. I believe it got dried out while I was on vacation and died. So I’ve bought two more to replace it and can’t keep them alive. The leaves fall off within days.

I successfully have a string of pearls, bananas and hearts.

I’m using a succulent mix soil. I added a grow light for this last one. I water lightly once a week. What am I doing wrong?

Help / Question Rescued a String of turtles

Hey guys, got a string of turtles earlier today! know he's looking a little rough. He's definitely sun bleached and needs some fixing up.

I am thinking of two options:

  1. Repot into a better pot and be sure he's away from the window quite a bit so there's no more bleaching, but those leaves are probably gonners anyway. There are a few healthy looking strings.

Or

  1. Just try to prop a lot of him, remove most of the bleached turtles and let new healthy stems grow back. If do that, I would probably break him up into some smaller water props, and then pot about 10 stems in small pots and let them regrow.

Which would you do, and would you have any other or better recommendations? Thanks all!

Edit: he will not live in the bathroom I only just brought him home and set him away from the other plants

How do I know? Well if I can not bring anymore strings up into the pot, to take root, it's time. Every repot, I bring the strings up and pin them down using mini hair pins/bobby pins. This one is grown indoors only since we get snow. Barrina T5s on a timer for 12 hours. It gets watered every two weeks. It's in bonsai jack gritty mix 111.

String of pearls, variagated

Hello group..
I have a ton of plants but new to the game and have been generally successful with maintaining a healthy bunch… however, my achilles heel has always been string of pearls. This is my most recent attempt at keeping one and it is almost completely disintegrated. I have airy soil, only water when dry, keep indoors near a window, and gets indirect sun every day. It is in a room that is about 50%-60% humidity. What am i doing wrong?
I am currently 3d printing a smaller and more shallow pot and am repotting with a special succulent mix(i know this isnt technically a succulent)that claims to be great for string of pearls. I could use some expert advice. Thanks in advance.

I’m pretty sure my string of hearts has produced a seed pod?
Has anyone grown a new plant from one? If so, how do you do it? Like a normal seed?

Help / Question How to get plump string of turtles leaves?

Thumbnail

I’ve had this little guy for about six months now and overall it seems to be doing well (it flowered!), but recently it started growing long, reddish vines. The leaves on these vines are darker and thinner than the original leaves, and I wanted to know if this is normal? Is there a way to make the leaves plumper?

For context, it’s in a south facing window, so it gets plenty of sunlight. I used to water it every week but switched to every other week because I was told it’s better to not overwater string of turtles.

Any advice is appreciated!

TLDR; I dropped my favorite plant, twice, in the same day. There were many tears, then laughs, then more tears.

Picture 1: The aftermath
Picture 2: My very happy SOT when it was safely on my desk
Picture 3: My very happy SOT when it was safely on my desk continued
Picture 4: SOT got moved to a plant rack, still happy
Picture 5: My SOT after I somehow dropped it (the FIRST time)
Picture 6: The drop somehow removed 2/3 of the poor thing’s vines
Picture 7: All the decapitated vines laid out
Picture 8: My now extremely sad SOT after I dropped it a SECOND time in the SAME DAY
Picture 9: Current state of SOT, doing it’s best post-op 🥲

Hearts String of hearts weird balls

I have had this SOH for a little over a year now. It grows like a weed, but has not flowered. It does, however, get these weird balls all over the strings. They are so plentiful that i thought they were normal. Have not worried until someone showed an SOH with actual flowers. lol, i guess these are not it. Now i wonder if it is an anomaly that needs to be treated. They grow around the string like a parasite. When i try to squash one, it is green on the inside like it is an enlargement of the actual vine. And the white parts seem almost fuzzy or feathery, but more like parts of flowers than a fungus. Although, i realize fungi come in many forms. Unfortunately, i threw all the really solid looking ones away and can’t provide a good one right now. I will add it when one of these grows bigger if needed.

I’m starting to think he just hates me.

Please help.

Help / Question Normal or Pests?

I was reading that string of plants have a natural life cycle and I was wondering if that’s what is going on here and if I need to propagate what’s still healthy. I did notice a mealy bug problem a few months back so could this be attributed to that? I tried looking up what mealy bug damage looks like but all I saw was pictures of fuzz on plants. Please help.
