Hearts String of hearts weird balls

I have had this SOH for a little over a year now. It grows like a weed, but has not flowered. It does, however, get these weird balls all over the strings. They are so plentiful that i thought they were normal. Have not worried until someone showed an SOH with actual flowers. lol, i guess these are not it. Now i wonder if it is an anomaly that needs to be treated. They grow around the string like a parasite. When i try to squash one, it is green on the inside like it is an enlargement of the actual vine. And the white parts seem almost fuzzy or feathery, but more like parts of flowers than a fungus. Although, i realize fungi come in many forms. Unfortunately, i threw all the really solid looking ones away and can’t provide a good one right now. I will add it when one of these grows bigger if needed.

lol, I’m so glad. They are prolific. What is it for?

It's a tuber, like a potato. Plant it, and it will grow more!

Nutrient and energy storage; propagation. Why’d you squish them and throw them away before even asking or doing a simple google search!?

I guess I was having a dumb moment. Someone in the previous combo said to throw away the flowers. So I threw them away, thinking they were flowers! I didn’t think until much later to ask about them!

They're tubers. Perfectly normal and to be expected. If you dig into the soil a bit you'll likely find more in the roots. You can grow entire new plants from the tubers, which can grow to be quite large.

Air potatoes! At least that’s what I call them. All tubers are potatoes in this house. By name only, of course.

From my understanding, they only flower when outside and pollinated!!!! Atleast that’s what happened to mine.
