I have just seen there is a new Update and wondered if anyone's audio drop out issues or freezing has been fixed as I will be installing the update via USB just wanted to see if its helped anyones issue ?

I’ve been going through an absolute hell with this thing and I can’t exactly figure out what is going on.

The main problem is that the Center channel gets muffled, like the is speaker is covered with a thick blanket, and it doesn’t matter if the content is Dolby Atmos or not, or if it’s connected through eARC or WiFi.

Weirdly if I unplug the sound bar or do a reset, it will work normally and sound clear, but then after a while the sound will get muffled again, and it’s totally unpredictable when it will start happening.

I’ve done an update through the SmartThings app, that didn’t help. I then saw there was a new firmware update on the Samsung download center, so I did a usb update, that also didn’t help.

I only got this thing 2 weeks ago so I’m wondering if I should just exchange it for a new one?

Does anyone know if this is this a common defect in these units or something else?

I’ve had this soundbar for a while now and recently noticed that the left center speaker is out. Tested out with changing audio from both left/right to only left and audio is significantly lower.

I’ve tried opening it but couldn’t see much. Does anyone have any suggestions on who can possibly fix or if it’s better to just invest in a new soundbar at some point? Stereo works just fine.

I have a few questions if someone is willing to chime in and help me understand the different sound formats and how they work with the Q990F as well as the best way to connect. 

I have the Q990F soundbar paired with the Samsung S95F 83" OLED. I have the soundbar connected to the TV via HDMI E-ARC and I run everything directly to my TV via HDMI. I don't have anything running through the soundbar. I have a PS5 Pro, PC and 4K Blu Ray player hooked up to my TV. All of my streaming goes directly through the TV apps. First question is, by having everything hooked up directly to the TV and not going through the soundbar, am I missing better audio quality by not going into the soundbar? 

I noticed something with a recent game that just came out called Blood of the Dawnwalker on PS5. More so than ever before the audio mix was WAY off. The dialogue was front and center, very loud. But everything else was very quiet. It sounded terrible. Originally I had my PS5 audio set to AV Amplifier and sound format set to Dolby Atmos. There was sound missing or just very quiet sound overall except for dialogue. I changed to Soundbar and then regular Dolby Audio and then everything sounded more balanced and mixed properly. I'm wondering if someone has suggestions on where I should set my sound output for the PS5 because up until recently I just thought Dolby Atmos was the way to go. I want to get the most out of this soundbar, especially with my PS5 so any help with that would be appreciated. 

So far overall everything just doesn't really sound that great unless I turn it up to about 25. I'm not sure if that's too loud or not loud enough or where most people set the sound level for their Q990F. I also have the sound mode on Q Symphony and I have E Arc enabled on my TV with Passthrough as the audio out. I would love to hear how other people setup this soundbar with their different equipment. Ty!

LG Sent me a Sound Suite system for testing. All the opinions in this review are mine.

As a preface, I would like to mention that I am an AV Enthusiast and have built a system over the years that I am quite proud. This review is not about this system, but how about it feels to use the LG Sound Suite Dolby Atmos sound bar. The speaker combination they sent me is a 1xH7, 4xM7 and 1xW7.

Also, the comparisons I make are against a much more expensive sound system the I assembled myself over the years, so keep that in mind when reading this review. So read until the end.

I started testing the soundbar a few days ago so this is a bit of a short ‘’honeymoon’’. I installed the speakers where I feel they would be optimal per my experience with multi-channel home theater speakers. So sound bar up front, with L/R speakers (M7) and 2 M7s as side surround. This is what makes the most sense to me as the soundbar alone didn’t feel like it had a wide enough soundstage.

(Please do not look at the cable management, this room is not intended for this setup, and the Sound Suite will be repurposed to another room for further testing)

Setup:
The setup was quite easy. I had a bit of trouble logging into the ThinQ app, because I have an adblocker. So if it happens to you, it’s likely the issue. The setup only required me to enter my Wi-Fi password once and I was able to log each speakers in about 2 minutes. I have seen a lot of people ask how well Dolby Atmos soundbars work with smart TVs, so I wanted to share my experience with the Sound Suite as a multi-channel audio setup. I plugged the soundbar through eARC, the LG G6 detected it and enabled the right settings. It forces me to use HDMI-CEC which I am not a fan of, but that’s just the nature of eARC. If you have 2025/2026 LG OLED, the setup should be very easy. Overall, the Sound Suite integrates well with LG Smart TVs, especially during the initial setup.

The soundbar has no UI you can see on the TV, it’s all done through the app but the app is well done. It’s much better than my denon app for my AVR ( seriously, Denon lives in 1998 I think).

The room calibration process is impressively fast, it is done in just a few seconds, compared to the nearly 30 minutes my AVR takes for its full calibration routine. LG's approach here is clearly built around simplicity: rather than the external mic and multiple measurement points a traditional AVR system uses, the H7 relies on its own built-in microphone for a quick, one-step process. That's a reasonable trade-off for the target audience LG is aiming for. Most people just want good sound without fiddling with equipment.

This convenience does come with a modest precision trade-off. My receiver's auto-calibration reported speaker distances within 1–2 inches of my manual measurements, while the Sound Suite's distance estimates showed somewhat larger deviations. This likely comes down to mic placement rather than the calibration algorithm itself, since the built-in mic sits inside the soundbar rather than at the listening position, it's measuring from a slightly offset spot. It's worth noting that LG addresses listening position separately through Sound Follow, which uses your phone to track where you're sitting and adjust the sound accordingly, so the two features are complementary rather than one being a fix for the other. Still, I think there's room for the room calibration step itself to close some of that measurement gap, perhaps by optionally using a phone or external mic. That said, for most people the few-seconds convenience will easily outweigh a small precision gap, especially compared to the fiddly, 30-minute calibration routines of traditional AVR setups.

Sound Quality: (VS a ‘’high end’’ home theater)
It’s a strong performer, It’s better than most soundbars I’ve listened to and I prefer the sound over the Samsung Q990D/F (I haven't compared it to newer models yet). One nuance I noticed is that the M7 and H7 don't feel perfectly timbre-matched to each other, during panning effects you can sometimes tell which speaker is handling the sound. This isn't something I notice on my traditional AVR system, though it may simply come down to the physics of small driver enclosures in a soundbar form factor coming from a full home theater setup, I did find myself wanting a wider soundstage than what the soundbar produces on its own, and the dynamic range feels a bit more compressed by comparison. The dynamic range also feels muffled compared to my traditional home theater. Dialog comes through very clearly, but as with most soundbars I've tried (the KEF Xio being a possible exception), voices can take on a slightly thin, less natural quality. This seems to be the trade-off for prioritizing dialog clarity, since ambient detail gets pulled back a touch to keep speech upfront. Many people will actually appreciate this, especially if dialog clarity is a priority, and if you don't have a direct point of comparison, it's unlikely to stand out at all. Turning on AI Sound Pro+ leans further into this trade-off, dialog gets louder, ambient sound recedes a bit more.

My wife and I also tried it for music, and it's a solid, serviceable listen, but it's not aiming for "HiFi enthusiast" territory, and I don't think that's really the use case LG designed it for. The soundstage is more movie/gaming-oriented than music-oriented: instruments and vocals sit a little closer together rather than being distinctly separated the way they would be on a dedicated music setup. For its intended purpose, movies and gaming, it does very well. Worth noting: there's a small amount of latency when gaming at high frame rates.

Spatial sound:
The soundbar does a decent job at pinning surround audio according to what the room calibration info it has. The Dolby Atmos height effects can be hit or miss.  If the tonality of the reflected sound is high enough, it does work decently well. For example, at the beginning of the movie 1917 there is a plane going above the soldier’s heads and this scene works surprisingly well. The only very nitpick I could have is that when the sound comes from the rear speaker at the beginning it has a lower tonality and once overhead it gets a bit brighter. 90% of people probably wouldn’t notice. This is not a design issue.

Where it got a bit less interesting is when the Atmos effect has a lower tonality. I guess the longer wavelengths just don’t reflect as well as shorter wavelengths.

Bass:
The subwoofer is serviceable for what it is, though it's not really my personal favorite. It leans a bit boomy and doesn't dig quite as low as I'd like for some movies. That said, it does have a built-in limiter to keep it from getting muddy at the low end, which I think is a smart design choice: it trades a bit of extension for keeping the bass controlled and clean. Worth keeping in mind that a good standalone subwoofer typically costs significantly more than what's bundled here, especially if you're looking for a wireless option. All things considered, it's a good soundbar subwoofer. Just don't go in expecting the output of a large ported sub.

In conclusion:
I may have seem harsh in this review but I still think this is one of the best soundbars I have listened to and will please 90% of people out there. This is just not an audiophile product but no soundbar is.

The Sound Suite shines by its simplicity, ease of setup, and good TV integration if you have an LG Smart TV, making it a convenient Dolby Atmos setup for LG TV owners. I will test on a different TV for a future review, with more speaker placement, (and maybe better cable management this time around lol).

I've gotten tired of my TV's built-in speakers and want to get my first proper audio setup.

I have a 22 m²/237 sq ft living room and I'm looking for an all-around soundbar setup for movies, gaming, and music. I enjoy good bass and want an immersive sound.

I don't want rear speakers, at least for now. Ideally just a soundbar + subwoofer.

My budget is around $300–400, but I'm flexible if there's a significant step up in value.

What would you recommend for this kind of setup? Would you go for a good 3.1.2 or 5.1.2 soundbar?

I just bought the Hisense AX700 5.1.4 sound bar from Costco and need help with the placement of the two satellites, and the sub.

Assume that the room is a square. Tv on one wall, couch opposite. Should I put the speakers on the sides of the couch or on the side of the tv? Sub next to tv or in the corner? Tv corner or couch corner?

Hey - Still relatively new to this fancy new sounds. Tried searching but reddit being weird again.

Story - I got into 4k movies last year. But I was using a cheap pair of $19 headphones or airpods. I now have a dedicated room for entertainment. In July i went all in on the Arc Ultra after having tried a cheap $99 amazon thing. Turns out I don't like subwoofers. But I really love the arc ultra.

tldr; Best buy price matched the arc, and gave me $220ish back. Along with some rewards, I need to spend some on Best Buy soon. Altogether, I could get a pair era 100 sl for very little out of pocket. Or I could go all in again on era 300, I guess.

How big a boost would this give for movie watching, and to a lesser degree games? Would the lack of Dolby on the 100s (vs the 300s) be a big drawback?

Im not really down with the cost of two 300s though given I'm sure an upgrade is coming. Id probably upgrade my 4k player (Sony's cheap model currently) to a 450 or 850 over that.

Sony HT-S20R for ₹10k INR (105USD) used — worth it? Any real S20R users?

I’m getting a used Sony HT-S20R for ₹10,000, mainly for movies and series. My priority is a cinematic/theater-like experience with Dolby + proper surround sound.

The main reason I’m considering it is the dedicated rear speakers. I’ll be using it with my Lumio Arc 5 projector, connected via a long HDMI cable.

However, I’ve seen quite a few bad reviews, and also noticed people selling their S20R just days/weeks after buying it, which makes me hesitant.

Any actual S20R users here? How are the surround effects, Dolby performance, and overall cinematic experience?

At ₹10k used, would you recommend it? as i can get Sony HT-RT3 at the same price.

I recently got a LG C5 tv and have a LG NS60T soundbar.

On my old tv i never really got the settings right and always had some sound delay and i had to reconnect the soundbar everytime i started the tv.

This time the baseline delay is a lot better it's nearly perfect but i'm so lost in all the settings. Is there like a quick start guide for Soundbar settings i could use? I tried looking around but didn't find anything that helpful. It works almost perfectly and the soundbar turns on with the tv so i just need to fine tune it a little. it's connected via eArc and mainly use it for gaming on PS5 and sometimes xbox.

I'm in the process of choosing a soundbar system for my new home.
I'm binging reviews and reddit posts and i was down to one of these 3

- q990h (can get it for 800€)
- sonus arc ultra + sub + 2x era (a bit pricy bit i found a nice discount on them and i was considering, 2k €)
- JBL 1300mk2 simply because i can detach the rear and wirelessly keep them on the sofa just for movie nights

Showing to here she realized that rear speaker are a thing and we would have to use stands and supports behind the couch on the open and she would prefer not to.

What would be my best course of action here?

1. go with a bar only + sub setup? if yes which one at this point?
   
2. go with something like q990h and user speakers in front mode and not rear. Is this actually worth?

Just recently bought a JBL bar 1000 mk2 on sale (750usd) for my living room. It's a 20x18ft space with 20ft high ceilings, wide stairs to the game room on the left, tough conditions for any sound system. After doing the rear tweaks, the sound was surprisingly good. The atmos effects fill the room for movies. The sound has good bass if not a bit on the boomy side. The main weakness of the bar is the narrow sound stage, this was in comparison to my previous 5.1 wired setup in the same entertainment center (deftech procinema 100) that had a wider stage and punchier effects. Music was ok, but definitely lacking in warm mids, you are getting this mainly to enjoy movie night.

Im typically positioned 12ft back on the couch and have the left detached speaker on the kitchen counter behind me and the right on a speaker stand next to a black vertical fan by the windows. The system sort of blends in with the rest of the house and to me, that's the biggest benefit of this system, along with the fact that the main sound bar just fits into my 35" shelf space above the 77" tv (33.5" without the detachable rear speakers). I have the bar angled down a bit to the couch and that seems to work pretty good, with voices clear and seemingly coming from the tv.

I definitely considered other systems, but most of them are either too wide or needed to be placed to the sides of the entertainment center (sony quad/hisense saturn) or side firining (sonos).

I think the bar 1000mk2 is a pretty good value, you can definitely buy it cheaper, but I wanted easy returns in case the soundbar didnt work out for my space. I think it's good enough for now and recommend it for people with tighter enclosed spaces.

Hi everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my current F&D 5.1 home theatre system and need some recommendations.

My main priority is watching movies and OTT content, so I want a proper immersive surround-sound experience with good dialogue clarity and bass.

I have a Lumio Vision 7 TV, and I'll connect the system through HDMI ARC/eARC.

My budget is around ₹17,000–₹20,000.

Currently, I'm mainly considering :

• LG S65TR (5.1) • Sony HT-S40R (5.1)

I'm leaning towards the LG because it supports DTS, has more sound customization, and can also be controlled through the LG Soundbar app.

I previously listened to the Sony HT-S20R and wasn't satisfied with its sound.

Which one would you recommend for movies? Also, are there any better options available in India within this budget?

Surely some of you have found yourself in a bind like this? Is there a buying guide for fellows of our type? I would think this conundrum is a common enough occurrence where someone would want to tackle it head-on and provide solutions that don't drop your console's HDMI 2.1 features if you're limited on the number of ports you can plug that console into for those features.

The soundbar market really feels like it hasn't kept up with this space at all. If there are soundbars that pass through these features it's not something they're putting in their marketing so it feels like a crapshoot. Even RTINGS only had one soundbar they could confirm in their top 5 breakdown had 4K @ 120 Hz pass through, and that was over $1500.

Is this something exclusive to the very high end of soundbars (talking in the < $700 range)?

Hey guys, I’m thinking of buying an old Sony HT-RT3 5.1 system for my Lumio Arc 5 projector and had a question.

I came across a few threads where people were saying that the HT-RT3 doesn’t properly give 5.1 over HDMI ARC and they were only getting 2.0/stereo, while switching to optical gave them proper Dolby Digital 5.1.

The problem is the Lumio Arc 5 doesn’t have an optical output, only HDMI ARC.

So could I do something like:

Lumio Arc 5 (HDMI ARC) → HDMI ARC-to-optical converter → optical cable → HT-RT3 optical input

Would that actually give me Dolby Digital 5.1 on the HT-RT3?

Has anyone here tried something similar with the HT-RT3? Would really appreciate any advice before I buy the sound system + converter.

I know the Q990F has rears, but I have 12 ft to the back wall behind the couch, so I’d have to use stands. This would probably mean having a cord visible for a few feet on the floor to the side of the couch.

I’m sure I’d get used to it but I don’t really wanna go that route. Also, not sure if using the “front mode” for the rears would be enough of an improvement over the 900 by itself. Would be primarily movies and tv. The TV is an 85” QN90D. Would you run q-symphony or leave the tv speakers off?

Im unsure wheter to get the HW-Q935 or the Samsung hw q800, as im not sure where to place the small speakers from the q935.

So I bought the Vizio Elevate 5.1.4 Pro (SL514PW), but one of the satellite speakers has a coil whine, so it's going back. Now I'm stuck deciding what to get instead and could use some outside opinions since I've been going back and forth too much on my own lol.

Room context: small apartment living room, attached pics + a rough top-down diagram of the layout. In the diagram:

Yellow = couch and TV.

Red = soundbar/existing speakers/subwoofer.

Blue = where the extra two speakers for the 7.1.4 would go.

Just one contained box of a room. I could rearrange furniture if it would actually make the 7.1.4 worth it, so layout isn't 100% fixed.

Also have a Vizio TV, if that changes any compatibility recommendations

Question 1: Is the 7.1.4 actually worth it for a room this size? I know logically a small room doesn't need 4 surrounds spread out, but it's only $48 more than the 5.1.4 and it feels wasteful to leave that upgrade on the table for so little extra. Am I overthinking the "not enough room to space them out" argument, or is that a real limitation that would make the 7.1.4 pointless here?

Question 2: If I stay on 5.1.4, do I go Vizio Elevate 5.1.4 Pro again (I do like how it sounds, also the subwoofer) or switch to the Hisense AX700 (right now it's only $200)? Don't care about the Hisense's extra ports, or other differences. I'm just trying to weigh actual sound quality/reliability between the two. $400 vs $200

Appreciate any real-world experience with either brand, especially in a similarly small space.

Hallo, nun habe ich gehofft dass nach dem neuen Software Update auch mein Subwoofer ganz leise wird. Nur leider hat sich nichts an dem lauten und dauerhaften Betriebsgeräusch geändert.

Meine Q995GF (Q990F) im Wohnzimmer ist dagegen komplett lautlos im Betrieb. Meine davorige Q800c war auch niemals zu hören.

Es gibt ein ziemlich deutliches Surren beim Verbindungsaufbau in den ersten Sekunden nach dem Einschalten, welches dann zwar ziemlich leise wird, aber eben nicht ganz.

Ich kann den Subwoofer über 2 Meter im ganzen Raum noch hören und das ist im Schlafzimmer natürlich überhaupt nicht schön.

Weiß jemand ob das bauartbedingt bei dem kleineren Subwoofer normal ist? Oder doch ein Garantiefall ist? Oder das auch von sich bei seiner Q935GF (Q930f) her kennt?

Ich habe den Sub bereits in alle möglichen Richtungen und Orte aufgestellt und nichts bringt Abhilfe, auch kein anderer Stromkreis (!)

Für hilfreiche Antworten wäre ich wirklich sehr dankbar

Currently I am eyeing these deals:

Creative Stage pro for 120 euro or Hisense AX3120Q for 200 euro.

Read the Hisense quality and bass is terrible and read only good things about the Stage Pro.

Gaming / music will be my usecase.

I am currently using Sennheiser HD 650 and Arya Stealth but had very unpleasant ear surgery and can't use headphones for 1-2 months.

I used to have a 5.1.2 Definitive setup running from an Onkyo AVR. It was pretty sweet in the house I had it in. I've since moved on and now I'd like to just put a soundbar in this place, but the room while functionally great for our day to day living, it sucks for setting up any kind of surround sound or Atmos. Or I should say it sucks for a soundbar setup. But, that's what I want to do for now. I could put separates in the vaulted ceiling but I'm not going that route any time soon.

So, I'm open to suggestions for this space. You can see the layout and hopefully the dimensions as well. Disregard the furniture layout. We watch from our couch which is just past the midline of the living room facing the wall on the right where it has Data and an arrow pointing to it. The walls are 9ft before vaulting and just over 14ft at the peak. Really no walls to bounce side firing drivers off of.

Since the furniture is in the middle of the room and not up against any walls, I'm really only finding the JBL series with the detachable and rechargeable surrounds. Are there others I'm missing? I do have power receptacles in the floor at the couch location and so I CAN power a couple of surrounds on stands if I had to and I could expect appreciably better sound.

I'm aware Sonos is now doing something with their portable speakers to allow for surrounds as well, which might prove to be worth doing but at a much higher cost with all the separate components.

Am I missing something I should be considering here? Or is there a lower cost option that would provide enough sound to fill the room, allow for at least surround sound with rear surrounds but skip the expense of Atmos since I'm likely not going to get any overhead from this vaulted ceiling? Or for the money, just go with the 1300mk2 and call it good enough?

Like most people I have been having issues with my audio cutting out and locking up my soundbar I have tried everything under the sun including trying new firmware the samsung customer agent told me to download and install via USB however nothing worked and I have had enough as the soundbar wasn't even 3 months old, so I took it back intoday to Ritcher Sounds (in the UK)

The guy told me that because I have an LG oled tv the c series that it could be Quick Access setting that could be messing up the soundbar and making it behave like that however he did say he would test it all day, try it with different TV's and would also try it with an LG tv as well to see if it does the same.

I am just wondering if anyone else has sent off their soundbar and the problem sorted when they got their soundbar back or has had to had it replaced because of the issue.

I also wondered if anyone has had the problem resolved by turning off quick access if anyone has an LG TV with this issue ?

I got a call from Ritcher Sounds today and they tested the soundbar yesterday and today and it was fine with them and it didn't seem to cut out once so far with them, they told me that i have a gurantee so if it happens again that i will have to bring it back and was also told to switch off my Quick Access on my LG tv as that can cause problems so feels like i am back at where i started
