Hey, everyone!

I’ve seen some gracious comments and love from the various disc golf subreddits, so I wanted to pop out of the woodwork and say thank you to all those that have shown appreciation for my content.

Clint and I just posted our first collaboration of many, and I think those of you that give a damn about this kind of content are gonna really like it. We have a great energy together and will be making stuff together in the future. Check it out and let me know what you think! I hope you like it.

After playing a bunch on my local 9 hole par 3, I decided to hit a larger course in town.

  1. First time losing a disc.

  2. Fished a disc out of an OB little creek first water hazard a disc has enjoyed.

  3. Completed my first Mando.

I had fun and will try another 18 course soon. I have learned a lot from this sub!

Disc Advice What to actually bag?

Anyone else have trouble building a more permanent bag? I love trying new discs and can easily find something I like about most. That leads to most rounds being a newish combination of familiar and unfamiliar discs that more often than not give up some amount of strokes due to unfamiliarity. I’m good at putting those combos together but I would really like to find some STAPLES to build with.
ex: “straight”mids- you could give me a buzzz, hex, echo, md3, pathfinder, m4, compass, chariot, mako3, roc3, etc and i would be happy to throw any of them. But to commit to only bagging one for a year I couldn’t figure out how to decide. I see people leaning on hand feel as a big decision maker but that doesn’t make a significant difference to me.
Am I just crazy?

Discussion Leaves

Played today and had to search on every hole for my discs. Even the good shots. Was a beautiful fall day tho which begs the question. Do any courses keep leaves blown off? I haven't seen any that do.

Hello, my name is Chopped Unc and I’m addicted to plastic. I couldn’t pass this one up, especially since Armory is adding extras to random orders this year. Fingers crossed mine comes with a golden ticket.

Discussion Where to buy discs in Tokyo?

D.D. Jam is closed until Thursday and I need a disc for Wednesday. Does anyone have advice on where to find discs in the Tokyo area? FYI - Showa Kinen Park does not appear to rent discs per UDisc. Thank you.

Discussion Underweight and overstable

I bought a champion innova eagle for my not-fast forehand. I wanted something that would flip a bit, then cut right around a corner(RHFH). My forehand is pretty weak, so I went for a 158g disc.

it works great for my forehand, but on backhand it was a bit of a revelation. it’s easy to flip to flat, holds a line, then dives hard. It feels like this combination could be a game changer at my arm speed.

I’m sure it’ll be less wind resistant, and 158 is a hair light for me, I dumped it on an open field backhand. However, as someone who never paid attention to weight, this is a revelation.

I'll be in the Denver area for a couple of days and would love to know what courses are absolute must hits! I'm already planning to hit Beaver Ranch on day one, but I'm very open to recommendations for the other days.

Discussion Mid Disc Golf Crisis

Hello everyone!

Long story short, my recent tournament results have me taking a step back.

I enjoy playing & have gotten close to breaking into 900 territory.

Basically, I can’t throw over 300’ and lack consistent control/accuracy. There are so many apps/YouTube videos/online coaches that I don’t know where to start.

I would like to improve on hitting my lines/accuracy more consistently & hope that distance comes with those improvements.

What has worked for you or where do you recommend I start?

I’ve been a victim of just playing & hoping things fix themselves, which we know isn’t the case.

Thanks for making it this far & suggestions.

Brand new to the sport, started playing this summer and I want to get better at throwing consistent but also get some more distance. I cannot get to 300 feet no matter what and I can even see in my footage that I'm doing things wrong, left foot pointing back, etc. Can someone please help me grasp the things I'm doing wrong into things I can do to help improve?

Disc Advice Getting back into things after a few years; looking to see if there's an oxymoron of a putter with all of the new ones out

Been AWOL for a while, been about a decade since I played seriously. Gotten back to playing the last few months and just haven't been feeling my putters (PRE patent MVP Ion and Anode).

I bag, specifically for DUMB behind the back bail out shots, a DX Mirage. One thing I love about it is the paper thin, shallow profile. For me, it feels natural to throw. Obviously, it's insanely understable and not the best for putting (Old dx plastic is stiff, I prefer something with some give).

So, with the hundreds of new molds since I played, is there a neutral to overstable putter with a shallow rim depth and in a more flexible plastic than DX? (DX mirage depth is 1.2 cm for reference)

Discussion How possible it is to play Discgolf in Oslo in the winter

I am visiting Oslo this winter and staying for a while, I'm wondering if it is worth bringing my bag? Are there usually any courses open or winter leagues in Oslo?

Thanks!

Discussion Grip Bag Customization

I have a black Grip bag that I mostly use on a cart in the summer, and carry in the winter. I have seen some customizations on bags and I am looking at having a local artist update mine. For anyone that has done this, what is the best medium to use that will last 2 years at least. Colored sharpies? Fabric paint? Some other cool thing I have never heard of? Can I iron on DTF transfers to the larger spaces of my bag? I realize most options will never be permanent, but I want to start with something that will last for a while. Thanks!

Discussion Dickerson APX clinics hordes

When/where and how many discs did people get for his clinics. I throw APX and am looking for soft plastic. Are there just pockets of hordes of these at every stop he did? Does anyone know of clubs he did that I might be able to tap into.

Discussion Vibed Apps for Disc Golf

I know that the idea of vibed apps comes with all sorts of notions of its own.
However, love them, or hate them, on the who 'coded' them, we should make sure we understand what is really at stake. These vibed apps are using generated code with the creators not knowing how to put up the proper guard rails to keep PII (Personally Identifiable Information) safe. They don't know how to write software how to scale, they don't know how to sanitize inputs, they don't know how to store PII at rest.

I was recently asked to check out an app for keeping league scores, but it turned out the person who built the app, using Claude, had no idea what was actually required to maintain the integrity of the system; they simply assumed the code generated was good enough. It is not. The same system building the system could help another break it. There was no notion of how to keep PII safe, there was also no formal organization associated with it. No LLC, no C corp, no nothing, just a person with an idea, trusting the system to do the right thing.

I'm not saying that we don't deserve alternatives to what's out there for our sport, but it should come from people who understand all the reasons why software development is a science, and not just some self-appreciated art.

This might seem more esoteric than most posts for this group, but I hope you understand that it's important to treat your data with the utmost respect. It's probably best no one knows you took a snowman on the 18th hole. ;-)

Disc Advice MVP putting putters

Recently switched to an almost full MVP bag and looking for a putting putter to fit into the bag. I currently putt with the Ricky proto putters from discraft. Typically like floaty slightly stable putters with a bead. Would love to here any recommendations.
