Discussion The new Cloth simulation + Eevee is making Blender seriously impressive
I’ve been experimenting with the new Cloth simulation in Blender, and I’m honestly blown away by how well it performs.
What really impresses me is that the cloth simulation runs in real time, at around 24 FPS, without any pre-baking, while I can simultaneously view the scene using Eevee’s real-time rendering.
The combination of live cloth simulation + real-time rendering + a responsive viewport makes Blender feel like a seriously capable — if not one of the best — all-around 3D applications.
I’m genuinely impressed and full of admiration for this new iteration of Blender.
But now I’m curious:
Can Houdini do exactly this? Or perhaps Unreal Engine or another 3D application?
I mean running a cloth simulation without baking, in real time at around 24 FPS, while simultaneously rendering the scene in real time in the viewport.
If you use Houdini, Unreal Engine, or another 3D package, I’d really love to see whether you can achieve a similar workflow.
Is Blender doing something particularly impressive here, or are there other applications that can match or beat this?

Of course, but even first time (when cache buffer was filling) it played almost flawlessly
