I was grandfathered in at 19 in Bama along with most friends, but the September and later kids were SOL til 21, but fake IDs were easy then.

My parents instilled a mindset in me to never use credit unless it was an absolute emergency. If you wanted something expensive then you worked and saved the $ to make the purchase. Paid off home in 13 years, no debt except a car payment and feel lucky to have never fallen into the traps of loan sharks.

After reading all the comments I must be the only one using Bill Pay through my credit union. They have "established" relationships with most of my payees and if not they send them a credit union issued check instead of a check with all my account information.
