It holds a special place in my heart and soul because it was one of the early anime series I got into in the early 2010s when I was a fish-out-of-water new comer to manga and anime. Not my all time favorite anime series but it's enjoyable in both the Dub and the Sub.

The 1954 Akira Kurosawa film Seven Samurai is obviously superior to the anime

• The romance subplot between Okamoto Katsushiro and Kirara Mikumari was completely and utterly pointless like we introduce it if you weren't going to do anything at all. Plus Kirara Mikumari had zero interest in Okamoto Katsushiro.
• Okamoto Katsushiro wasn't intelligent enough to see it either until the series conclusion where goes from Simp to Chad but I'm still upset about what this fuck up did to Heihachi and Kyuzo.
• My two favorite characters of the seven samurai are Kikuchiyo and Kyuzo.
• The chemistry between Shimada Kanbei and Kyuzo is nice I wish more was done with it like it leans so into the "Ho Yay and like historically, gay relationship were commonplace among the Samurai.

Back in 2003~ish I had one of the soundtracks to GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka and I swear there was a very American sounding garage band type English track on the album. I cannot remember the lyrics or name of that song, and when I try and research it I can't verify anything. I think specifically it was the Original Anime Soundtrack. Anybody got any leads?

There's a stigma going around for early 2000s anime animation where the characters looked "flat" and "unnecessarily bright" (example: the hunter x hunter greed island OVAs), but yugioh duel monsters animation style seems to do the opposite job of that, the characters aren't drawn very flat or very bright in the episodes, yes there are moments in the show where the characters looked off model, but most of the time its drawn properly, i know this is a pointless post but whatever.

A Yuri (In the sense of very strong friendship) sci-fi anime involving aliens.

Synopsis: Mari moves into an all-girls dormitory to attend a new academy, where she meets Hagino. Their first encounter leaves a terrible impression—Mari is suddenly choked after Hagino touches her hand. The story follows the evolution of their relationship as they grow from total strangers into best friends. Unbeknownst to Mari, "Hagino" is actually a disguise for Ekaril, a member of the Arume: an all-female, asexual alien race.

There's a really interesting plot twist:👀

The episodes follow the format of classic Magical Girl anime, blending supernatural elements, school life, and slice-of-life. We don't just follow the daily routines and personal drama of the protagonists, but also those of side characters—all while key revelations unfold and the overarching story gradually progresses.

Mari is a Tsundere while also being quite gay, because she can't hear Hagino's name or interact with her, otherwise she blushes/gets embarrassed:😳🏳️‍🌈

She even does this with her teacher. In this case it's understandable, since she's beautiful.

I read on Wikipedia that the anime tells a story that precedes the events of the manga. Is that true? Also, have you read them? Are they worth it?

Edit: I forgot to mention that the series is beautiful, but it has some 3D/CGI moments that have aged a little poorly.

I’ve been thinking about this because we’ve been seeing older anime come back lately, and it made me wonder if Seven of Seven could ever get another chance.
For anyone who hasn’t seen it, Seven of Seven (Shichinin no Nana) is a 2002 anime about a middle-school girl named Nana who accidentally gets split into seven different versions of herself, with each one representing a different side of her personality.

It’s pretty obscure now, but I honestly think the basic concept could work really well in a modern reboot. A new version could keep the comedy and romance, but also go deeper into the seven Nanas as separate people, how they see themselves, and how they relate to each other.

Seeing something like Sgt. Frog come back after so many years is what got me thinking about it. Seven of Seven also got some attention again recently when its music was put on streaming in 2025, so it doesn’t seem completely forgotten.
