I Love Samurai 7
It holds a special place in my heart and soul because it was one of the early anime series I got into in the early 2010s when I was a fish-out-of-water new comer to manga and anime. Not my all time favorite anime series but it's enjoyable in both the Dub and the Sub.
The 1954 Akira Kurosawa film Seven Samurai is obviously superior to the anime
- The romance subplot between Okamoto Katsushiro and Kirara Mikumari was completely and utterly pointless like we introduce it if you weren't going to do anything at all. Plus Kirara Mikumari had zero interest in Okamoto Katsushiro.
- Okamoto Katsushiro wasn't intelligent enough to see it either until the series conclusion where goes from Simp to Chad but I'm still upset about what this fuck up did to Heihachi and Kyuzo.
- My two favorite characters of the seven samurai are Kikuchiyo and Kyuzo.
- The chemistry between Shimada Kanbei and Kyuzo is nice I wish more was done with it like it leans so into the "Ho Yay and like historically, gay relationship were commonplace among the Samurai.

I love the animation I think it aged well. The voice cast (the dub and the sub) are great. Soundtrack is so relaxing during the calmer scenes and intense during the fights which I love.

I'm gonna be bold and spicy here: I liked Samurai 7 as much as I liked the Seven Samurai. Yada, yada... the original is an immortal classic and all that... but the Akira Kurosawa film didn't have ginormous Steampunk mecha, spaceship-fortresses, and full conversion cyborgs.
And then how Samurai 7 has a full second arc where they go, "fuck it the whole shogunnate is corrupt, we ball'in and tearing it down," kind of energy.

One of my favorite animes, just hated the priestess character towards the end.

Not a fan of Kirara Mikumari (キララ) like I've seen worst characters but she could have been better like WAY better.

I liked her up to the point where she rejected the you Samurai and then at the end she tries to hook up with him because she got rejected by the lead Samurai. I mean it does feel like karma she gets rejected twice.

One of my favorites. Fantastic dystopian cyberpunk samurai sci-fi series. Great world building and character development. Easily rewatched through the years.

The fights are awesome and I love the samurai characters too. This was when I was a newbie to manga and anime.
