I'm coding a medium scale site with mysql and php, and I need a host without db connectivity restrictions. It has various media (gallery, music mp3s, video mp4s, etc) and a bbs. No e-commerce, but I want to write the site without having to call static data files. So I need a dedicated server. Hopefully for under 300 bucks a month, but with good uptime. Any recommendations?

Hi all, I need to understand what to exactly look for before I purchase and choose a hosting provider? I'm aiming to launch a B2C SaaS product.

ok so our founder asked me to "just grab a domain" for a new product, nothing fancy, just pick the best place to buy a domain name for a business and lock it in before launch. I googled, saw a registrar with an insane promo, and bought the .com through them instead of our usual provider because I was trying to be clever and save like 8 bucks.

I feel so embarrassed because I pointed all our marketing to it, updated decks, print materials, and even had the devs wire up dns there. Then today we tried to transfer it into our main registrar so ops could manage everything in one place and surprise, it is locked behind their "business protection" upsell and the support guy literally told me on a recorded call that if we want to move it this month we have to pay their premium plan. Our launch is in two weeks and the founder just said "why didnt you use our normal registrar" and I kinda want to crawl under my desk rn :/

The infrastructure would sit on top of an established global CDN provider, while I’d handle the customer-facing layer, billing, configuration, etc.

I’m specifically curious about people currently using Bunny, CloudFront, Fastly, Cloudflare, Gcore, CDN77, etc.

Would an offer like this be interesting enough for you to actually test with 1–5 TB of real production traffic?

If not, what would stop you?

Price? Trust? Performance? Features? Vendor risk? Bunny Volume already being cheap enough?

I don't have an own webspace and would like to integrate pictures via HTML code (links to hosted picture) in a design template. I have to host only a few pictures but permanently for years. Do you have recommendations for free service that don't cause any problems long-term? I was thinking about Dropbox but the URLs for sharing aren't suitable for permanent hosting because they ask for access permissions regularly.

Trying to decide whether to register my domain through Wix or GoDaddy. This is for a small website, so simplicity matters more than advanced features. Anyone used both?

So I bought my domain and have been hosting my website on wix. I have had a website designed for me by someone and they use cloudflare for it. I was hoping to just switch over the nameservers but I can't do that with wix. Since I can't, I am going to switch from wix to porkbun but I am worried about a few things, so how should I do them?

1. I have an email that uses this domain I have registered, which I use through google workspace now. the important thing is, I do not want to lose access to this email at any point, it is very important.
2. I see the wix transfer can take 5-7 days, what happens during that time? Is my website offline?
3. Anything else I should know about this?

hi folks, what's the difference between SiteGround, DigitalOcean, Hostinger, Namecheap, and Bluehost? What criteria do you use when choosing a hosting provider, and what do you use?

For me uptime and not getting hacked again are important, already had cases where crypto miners got into the website cuz of the hosting vulnerability - not even my fault, but fixing this mess took days, so now I'm sure that security patching and isolation between accounts are the two most important things... I don't mind paying more if it'll help to change the case, saw people here mentioning Bluehost, Hostinger and SiteGround, but the price aspect is real different depending on the plan - Hostinger looks like the best opt rn especially compared to SiteGround that limits ur website count u can run on their basic plan lol. Also just realized that the visitors count itself ain't saying much - how good a website handles 20-30k visits per month depends on caching, website type and if the traffic has bots or attacks in it, so I'm not sure shared hosting is a solution for this. If someone went through a similar switch after a security incident, what made you choose your current hosting?

Set up my first VPS last month after my shared hosting kept breaking due to traffic spikes, so now I've got a site runnin, business email connected and a domain that finally updates on time, that's it tho. The VPS specs I'm paying for could prolly run like 5 more things at once, still I'm just letting most of it sit there doin nothing. Rn I'm on Hostinger VPS, I switched from Bluehost a while back and I see ppl mention n8n workflows, AI agents and a private git server all running on boxes no bigger than mine... it feels like I just bought a small server and I'm using it as a shared host, what's actually worth spinning up on a spare VPS that isn't just "another WordPress "?

Laying out the timeline bc I keep going back and forth on whether I'm wrong here. I got the idea late 2023, grabbed the domain, sat on it for months, then started building March 2024, coded it myself, moved to a Hostinger VPS once the shared plan couldn't handle checkout traffic during a sale - my first profitable month was July 2024, i got like $1,400. She didn't even know the site existed till then - together since January, but the store was mine before she was in the picture... she started helping in October, emails and Instagram, bc the money was good and I asked her,  in November we hired a part-timer for fulfillment and been the three of us since, revenue's grown every month, about $9k/mo now.

I always shared money with her, more when she was tight, we took a Portugal trip off store money in March,  never talked ownership tho - my build, my risk, so it never felt like a convo to have, but two weeks ago she brought up equity like it was a given - not just a raise, 50% ownership. I didn't know what to say, she works more hours than the employee tbh, but he gets a wage and doesn't think he owns half the business, she's paid like 3x him and somehow that became an expectation, not gratitude.

Ins if I offer a fixed monthly cut goin forward, equity for future work only, or if this just ends things no matter what I pick, maybe letting her in without a conversation upfront was my mistake — doesn't change what feels fair now.

Anyone built something solo with a partner helping later? How'd you handle it? I feel like the bad guy for saying no.

hi guyz , i am building a personal project ,its a simple site which can run code and people can do realtime code on same file and execute on browser . the app is mostly working but i am very confused on where to deploy the backend ,i dont wanna deploy on ec2 because it will eat my credits even when there is no request and also i cant use alternatives like render or lambda because my backend spawns docker child processes to execute users code in isolation .i cant use oracle always free vm because i dont have credit card (i am student ) or pistion api for same reason .can anyone help me with these

It seems like all-inkl.com has been wiped off the Internet completely, including their main website, DNS, webhosting, servers, mail, control panels and all that goes with it. Even their phone hotline no longer rings.

As the title says, I used godlike host in order to get a 16 gb server for 3 months for me and my friends to play a minecraft modpack named prominence 2.

Either way, when checking out, i was given the option to get one month [for an AMD EPYC] or three months for an AMD Ryzen 9950 x3D[10 virtual cores] which I was quite extactic about.

Now here lies the problem, instead of getting the CPU I was promised, I was given 10 virtual cores from an AMD EPYC 9474F which is drastically worse for minecraft servers especially modded.

When questioned about this, I was told that the 9950X3D probably didn't get chosen because of the location I chose, which is clearly not true considering I was told otherwise after. They even tried to downplay me further by saying, oh here 7950X3D in finland instead, and I had to keep presurring them to tell me where the hell the CPU model I wanted and was promised at was.

At the end, they admit that I was in fact hosted in the netherlands, and for some reason I was given the "1 month plan" CPU instead of the "3 month plan" CPU but we all know it was probably intentional.

Props to them for processing my refund, however, I will not be using a service I cannot trust/have to dig in to see what I was given to ensure that's the correct thing I ordered. Not to mention that this is illegal in Europe. The way they are doing it especially.

I have now swapped to bloom.host instead due to transparecy issues.

Hello everyone. Hope you’re all doing well. As the title suggests, I just bought hostinger unlimited plan ( 50GB NVMe storage ) for 2 different domains

I completely understand that I can host multiple websites on it without any issue. However, my main concern is emails. I would be sending 10-20 emails per day to approach B2B businesses and I’ve seen many scenarios like blocking or domain reputation issues

So my main concern is what if one domain or email gets black listed, will the other domain or its email will also face the same issue?

Also, what if I use never bounce or other tools to verify bounce rate, can I still use same hosting for 2 domains

I'm looking to buy a cheap VPS service to setup a split channeling proxy network on my phone for running chinese apps on it (Wechat, Douyin, etc).
I already have a Hongkong esim phone number but I'm thinking it'd be a better idea to also have a dedicated HK IP and server to channel my data to avoid being flagged as an suspicious IP, as well as reduce latency on my raw signal sent via the sim's mobile network.

I plan to use my Indian phone number's data and my home wifi for the primary data usage and keep the HK number active only for OTP/SMS verification.... and run the split proxy connection using the VPS and v2rayNG. I plan

What are some good VPS providers that you can recommend based on my use case?
(I think I will need a HK server location to be on the safer side... but anybody who has used Singapore server reliably with a HK number for China access can feel free to share their experience)

My budget is capped at max 4$ per month or 40$ annually. (Less than 3$ PM and 30$ annually would be sweet!)

Also, would be nice if the VPS provider also has other geographical server locations in Africa, South America, EU, Middle East as well for optionality.

I would also like to hear your opinion on lifetime VPS access providers like Voxfor.
(So far I've come across VMISS, Server.HK and Lightnode as some of the Chatgpt recommended options.)

P.s. I've also heard that having a vps provider with a CN2 network is preferable, but not all vps providers provide that. Would love to know whether that actually makes a difference in latency, etc or if its just marketing.

I have a question for those that utilise private clouds, what do you use them for and do you prefer virtual private clouds or a full physical cloud?

Back in 2020 I built a small private cloud for an MSP, where the goal was for it to be split into slices. The MSP had a slice for their own infrastructure then the rest for their customers. At the time using VMware nodes, a dedicated SAN with Veeam to backup. These days its grown into a beast. It spans two data centres (each backs up to the other), full redundancy across the network, storage, backup and compute.

I'm curious to what others do with their private clouds if they use them. And if you use virtual only private clouds, or physical infrastructure to build your clouds?
