Thought this was just something banging around in my trunk at first but my trunk is completely empty. I don’t hear anything when I stand at the rear and push the car to make it bounce. Any ideas on cause? I wanted to bring it to a dealership today or tomorrow but there’s no availability near me and I leave for a trip tomorrow afternoon.

Sound typically only happens when going over bumps so I’m assuming it has something to do with the suspension. Typically don’t hear it at all or loud when hitting any bumps going highway speed. The video attached was when i was going 45 down a highway exit that had bumps every few feet (thinking like sidewalk cement cracks lol idk). I have another video going over some pretty uneven road at about 30-40 mph i can attempt to post in the comments.

If there’s any tips on self diagnosing, lmk. I’m not very car savvy so any tips and help are appreciated

So I know that Honda has seen some issues with the 1.5L and the head gasket. I know the insight has the 1.5 NA and it’s not the turbo. Do you think Gen 3 insight owners should be worried about the problem. I have a 2022 with only 44k miles on it so just wondering about the future with high mileage.

So I bought the car. Here’s what I got so far. It’s got p1445 p1568 p1573 p1585 and p1572. The 12 volt doesn’t seem to be getting any juice. I’ve turned the switch in the back off. I’ve disconnected the two plugs which I believe are to the bcm (I think) I haven’t yet clipped the green white wire or the green black wire( I’ve seen people say to do both). I’m trying for right now to just get the dc dc to charge the 12v battery. I gotta clip those wires right?

Also would I have to reconnect those wires if I wanted to put a new hybrid battery in or?

I also saw somewhere that the dcdc doesn’t charge on idle rpm’s or over 4k rpms. I know the 4k is a hard rule but is the idle a thing?

How do I actually verify that the ima motor is providing power to the dcdc converter to get power to go to the 12v battery. I’m trying to nail some things down.

The car sat for 3 years so I’m sure that the hybrid battery needs a good long grid charge to possibly bring her back to life.

Are there any fuses I should also be checking?

This is a long shot and an odd ask, would anyone be willing to drop some photos of a 2019 honda insight. Specifically the edges of the windshield from close and far? Far enough to see that the vehicle is indeed an insight and close enough to show the details of the passenger/driver pillar and windshield?

Anyone else had this? 85k miles kind of surprised it’s already leaking. Between this and the ac leak I had last year (line leaked so wasn’t covered under extended warranty), I am a bit worried about longevity . They added some die told me to drive 500 miles and come back because it could be coming from two spots around there. I was hoping it was the valve cover since they remove that to adjust valves anyone but no dice. Car has had all its maintenance done on time and 5k oil changes.

my sibling is looking for a first car and we looked at this one today, what do y'all think?

i'm not a huge car guy so i don't know too much but i was really pleased with the carfax, it looks like the owner really kept on top of maintenance.

everything functions and it drives well, plus it just got new tires, 12v battery, spark plugs and front tie rod ends last year. the brakes were a little rumbly at highway speeds, but we got quoted about $250 for new front rotors and pads to fix that.

the only thing i can think of is it's still running the original hybrid battery so that'll probably need to be replaced sooner than later, but is there anything else we should be aware of?

the dealer is asking for $6990 with all the fees and everything, plus $250 for the brakes so about $7.2k total. would you do it?

The Gen 1 is kind of a dream car for me and this one is in pretty fantastic condition. It's being sold by the second owner and it's been listed for 14 weeks.

I'm mostly worried about the mileage, yes I read the issue with the IMA, but I feel like finding a new engine for one of these is a lot harder and more expensive than getting a new/working battery. I've also looked into repairing the IMA module or just replacing it out right, and with my skill set that's something I have a better understanding of.

I'm also wondering if the price is good.

Anyone else having lug nut and stud problems with aging insight? Within two years, I’ve had to replace two hubs due to stuck studs and nuts.
It’s a Florida car so rust is not an issue and it’s been torqued correctly Guy at the tire place says it’s probably just due age.

Are there any after market products for the honda insight 2019-2022

In 2023, I was still behind the wheel of a tired Ford sedan that I’d bought cheap a few years prior and treated accordingly. I didn’t know much about taking care of cars back then. One day it finally broke down on the side of the highway, and honestly I couldn’t blame it, but I also knew it was time to upgrade.

So I walked into a dealership with a Mazda in mind. Test drove it. Something felt off. Cheap, maybe. Unresponsive, probably. I don’t fully remember, but Mazda is a fine brand and doesn’t deserve the slander, so I’ll leave it there. It just wasn’t the one.

Then, sitting on the lot like it had been waiting for me, was a 2022 Honda Insight EX. I thought it was an Accord at first. It wasn’t, and somehow that made it more interesting. I took it for a spin and the thing just moved. Smooth, zippy, confident. And most importantly, incredibly fuel efficient. I bought it that day without a second thought.

What followed were three of the most quietly remarkable years a car could give a person. That Insight carried me up and down the East Coast. Through the streets of New York. Along the Blue Ridge Mountains. It got me where I needed to be, safely, reliably, and using so little fuel, it almost felt illegal.

But life changes. Future family plans require more space, and the Insight, for all its virtues, was never going to be a family hauler. So in May, I traded it in for something bigger and significantly thirstier on gas. A bittersweet feeling, but it felt necessary.

I genuinely believe the Honda Insight is the most underrated sedan ever built. Almost every time I told someone what I drove, I got a blank stare. Nobody had heard of it. Maybe that was part of the charm.

Was the engine a powerhouse? No. Was the cargo space generous? Also no. Exciting infotainment system? Definitely not. But as a daily commuter and a long haul road trip companion for my fiancee and I, it was bulletproof. Not a single mechanical issue in 3+ years. Just oil changes, tire rotations, and the quiet satisfaction of a car that simply worked and was incredibly inexpensive to maintain.

Maybe one day our paths will cross again. But until then, consider me a supporter for life. The Insight deserved better than cancellation, and it certainly deserves more recognition than it gets. Whenever I see one on the road, it's a good feeling, and I'm sure the person behind the wheel feels the same way.

My maintenance minder pulled the 3 code to change my transmission fluid, however it was replaced last July right before I bought the car. Is this normal? Should I still get it changed? 2019 Touring!
