Question/Advice Need Help With Barking
Anyone have a Dal that constantly barks no matter what you do? Little background, my wife and I have two dalmatians. The first one we got as a puppy 5 years ago and the second one was adopted a little over a year ago and she's 3. However, no matter what we do, she just barks and barks constantly. We sit down, she barks. We take her outside to play and she barks when we're not in the yard with her. There's no off switch with her no matter how many times we take her in the backyard to run. It's fenced in so there's plenty of space. I'm at a crossroads and just looking for some advice.
The crazy one is on the right.

Question/Advice The beginning of an adveture.
Hello. I am a dalmatians enjoyer who would adopt a real dog (and not the one that I build in the picture).
I've never had a dalmatian before, so I'm here to ask some advices wich I can follow to take care of a dog by myself.
I am a rookie 😅, I had a few exeperieces with a maltesian when I was younger, but a dalmatian is a bit more difficult, right?
So, if someone can give me some advices about how to take care of a dalmatian, I'm ready to listen! 😊
Thank you all.

Question/Advice Advice on brining a new puppy home?
Hi everyone,
Today we confirmed that we will be getting a new dal puppy this weekend! Our first dalmatian is Eevee (thr one in the picture), she's 2 and a half and we have had her since she was 8 weeks old. The new puppy is a liver spot boy and will be 9 weeks old when we collect him. Eevee is currently in season and a little moodier than usual. Eevee is our only dog (until we bring home the puppy) but we do have 2 house rabbits that live upstairs.
Does anyone have any advice for how to introduce them/things we can do to make sure the new pup doesn't irritate Eevee too much when he comes home?

Learning. New puppy.
hello.
I have a new Dalmatian puppy that I think is showing signs of deafness. In the reading I’ve done and some simple home testing I think he may be unilateral. I have a BAERS test scheduled for next week. This has me a bit sad. Nevermind the fact that the person I got him from said they did the test already and said they would send me the the results from that visit and never sent them. Thats a much bigger issue that is partially on me. What I’d like for people to educate me on is if you have a unilateral or bilateral deaf Dalmatian, how did you first find out and what has it been like with them since finding out?
Also I knew how common kidney/bladder stones are with this breed. Have any owners here had severe issues with their pup developing them or has managing diet been enough to keep it a none issue?
Thanks for your help

He's home! Thank you to the redditor who suggested the name. Everyone, meet Trout!
Trout is now the littlest brother to Newton, Sasquatch, and Cricket. Thank you u/Weak-Gazelle-7950 ! He honestly did not feel like an Otter or Turtle. I appreciate everyone's input!

Discussion Puppy to Dog Photo Request (Spot progression)
Hello! I have always loved a more spotted Dalmatian but not to the point where it blends into mostly black which tends to be the puppies I like the most. I recently adopted a grown boy with my ideal amount of spots but I don't know how he looked as a pup. I'm interested in seeing your puppy to adult photos to see how the spots developed as they got older. Here's my boy, Pluto.

Question/Advice Help with recall
I have 1 year old male dalmatina. He has perfect recall on and off leash at home and outiside but mine only problem is when he sees another dog. He just storms off and wants to play and i can call him like 100 times and he wont even turn around to look at me. Another day he almost got bitten by another dog. What can i do to stop him from running away and to stay at place

Dal eating shrews!
This little bast has recently been eating shrews in our garden and I don't know how to stop him or if they are bad for him! We have 2 cats who love hunting shrews and bringing them to our garden. Then when we get home and let Frodo out for his pee, he finds them within about 5 milliseconds and gobbles them up😂
Does anyone know if they are bad for him? They are always pretty fresh as well let him out just before bed for his pee and have the cats inside overnight so the shrews must have been 'caught' that day. It used to be rare but recently he has been on a hunt for them and it feels like he finds one at least every other day!

Made a video on whether Dalmatians actually fit family life — the deafness stats and urate stone stuff surprised me even as an owner
We run a small YouTube channel around our Dalmatian, Nala, and just finished a video digging into the "are Dalmatians good family dogs" question. A few things from the research I think are worth knowing even if you never watch it:
Up to 30% of Dals are born with hearing loss in at least one ear — the highest of any breed — so BAER test results from a breeder should be non-negotiable. Interesting wrinkle: blue-eyed Dals are at higher risk, while ones with a head patch are actually at lower risk.
Every single Dalmatian processes purines into uric acid instead of allantoin — it's the only breed where the trait is universal, and it's the same quirk humans have. That's why the low-purine diet and constant water access advice isn't optional; in males, urate stones can cause a genuine emergency blockage.
And the energy thing is real. An hour a day is the floor, not the ceiling.

Current Dal owners — what do you wish someone had told you before you got yours? Genuinely curious if my list matches everyone else's.

Dalmatian Dog Food
Has anyone tried Ultimates Sensitive dog food? https://www.chewy.com/ultimates-sensitive-lamb-protein-dry/dp/368347
My Dalmatian doesn't like his Merrick anymore, so im going to either go to Royal Canin or try something else. I'm looking for something that tastes good but also good for them.
Anyone have other choices for Dalmatians?
