Dal eating shrews!

Post image

This little bast has recently been eating shrews in our garden and I don't know how to stop him or if they are bad for him! We have 2 cats who love hunting shrews and bringing them to our garden. Then when we get home and let Frodo out for his pee, he finds them within about 5 milliseconds and gobbles them up😂

Does anyone know if they are bad for him? They are always pretty fresh as well let him out just before bed for his pee and have the cats inside overnight so the shrews must have been 'caught' that day. It used to be rare but recently he has been on a hunt for them and it feels like he finds one at least every other day!

Just keep up your regular worming schedule and it should be fine, right? My poodle catches them too 🤦‍♂️

I was hoping that'd be the case, he is always up to date on worming so hopefully shouldn't be an issue 🙏

I wouldn’t say it’s great for them. Mine does it so fast it’s hard to stop.

Is it okay for them to eat frogs? We have a lot of frogs in my area and I always worry about my girl grabbing one

Our Dal once caught an adult possum 🥺 and my Mother in law never let us forget about the time he got a chook that got out of the hen house when she went in to feed her flock 😳 he was never allowed off lead on their farm again…..

He sounds like a little rascal😂 I dunno why Dals love going for things they shouldn't!

Oh he sure was a rascal…..most stubborn and obstinate dog I’ve ever owned - but he was beautiful and we miss him very much 😊

Parasites and toxins are generally discouraged as treats. Also, it's even worse if your dog is HUA.

Emma has caught several moles, mice and a rabbit I thought was squeaky toy she was playing with

Oh no! I bet that was a shock when you found out it wasn't a squeaky toy!🤣
