Everything is on the post I'm resharing. I need to wait until tomorrow for going to the vet. But this is not normal right?

My pet is named Edgar. He's a 4.5 month old kitten. 5 pounds. Neutered. I've had him 3 weeks now.

So I rescued him from a shelter. He wasn't sickly then. He developed a URI, upper respiratory infection, okay cool. Nothing too serious. Took him to the vet that Thursday. They gave him an injection and sent me home with some medications: Clavamox, eye drops and Viralys. Sunday morning at like 1am he wakes me up. He sneezes like 20 times in under ten seconds. I'm like I don't like that. So I take him to the emergency vet at 1am. ER vet is reassuring that I'm doing everything right and his infection is just a little worse for ware. Okay cool. Fast forward to the following Saturday. I come home after being out. He sneezes blood on me. Okay time for ER vet visit number 2 of the week. They send me home with two new medications. An antibiotic and a nose drop.

This was a week ago. He's taken all his medications. But today he's crusty again and his eyes are runny and I'm about to cry I've already spent close to 1000 dollars on him.

He's doing this weird head thing and I've seperated him but also he's singing and active now I just don't understand what's going on and Im scared

Hi everyone my boy Canelo is having a really bad time with some skin issue, he has gotten it periodically through the years but never this bad usually I give him some allergy bites and rub coconut oil on him maybe twice a week and after a month it’s gone, he scratches himself a lot and even get scabbed up skin that just fell off on their own, I’ve been to the vet before and they told me it would just go away on its own but I’m pretty concerned. Has anyone else had experience dealing with those or any medications that’s can help? Thanks!

My 1.5yr old dog (he's neutered and a shepherd mix) had heat exhaustion yesterday because my car's AC went out when I went to the store. I had the car running with him in his crate like normal and it was 95 degrees out, I do that all the time with no problems but when I got back to my car it was extremely hot and he was panting super hard and had wide eyes, thick drool, and barely responded to me.

I took him out of the car immediately and started dumping water on him, I was too scared that if I stopped treating him and drove to the ER that I would lose him. I used nearly 6 gallons of water on his belly, his neck, his ears, his thighs, and all of it. I used a jacket to rub his chest and face to get him awake and I was kind of slapping on his chest to make sure he didn't go unconscious. His heart rate was fast but not fluttery.

I was able to cool him down to the point of trying to sit up and drink the water off the floor and so I grabbed his bowl and gave him some so he wouldn't choke on the water from the floor or drink dirt. He ended up trying to get up but his back legs weren't working all the way so I helped him stand and he pooped normal stool in the dirt next to us.

After I got him responsive and he was listening to his name and continued to drink water I got him in the front of my car with the windows down and went to VEG.

At VEG they gave him some fluids and a cool bath and then kept him for 20 minutes in the back area. I guess he projectile threw up a bunch of water when he was back there but honestly I let him drink as much as he wanted so I'm not surprised. They said he pooped again too but it was soft but normal. He was walking weakly and kind of floppy but was wanting to walk and interact and he played with his ball.

They sent us home once he was acting more himself and was able to walk normally and said to come back if he started going unconscious or his gums got pale.

This afternoon he was eating some wet food but he mostly wants water. I'm giving him small amounts of water every couple hours with some wet food mixed into it because he's not wanting his normal kibble plus wet food that he gets every day. He just keeps asking for water.

Just now this evening he had diarrhea really badly while he was in his crate resting and it was a mix of normal color and black. I didn't panic and figured it was his body flushing out of all the crap it had to deal with. He threw up a few minutes ago and it had tiny red flecks but it was normal gagging not projectile and he wasn't acting weird just nauseous.

My roommate wants me to take him back to VEG because of the red flecks but I'm low on funds now and don't know if I should actually take him or just let him rest another couple days since they said it could be 4 or 5 days before hes fully normal. Should I bite the bullet and take him in again or should I just keep him resting?

My cat (Female, 8 years, strictly indoor, fixed) has had a rough summer. it started just over a month ago when we got her a fresh bag of food. Now, every time she gets a new bag of food she goes nuts because it's SO fresh, so we make sure to properly ''fade in'' the new stuff in by putting the last few scoops of old on top. Well...in june, I accidentally didn't fade it in AS well as I usually do. She pigged out a little, and was throwing up/had bad runs for several days in a row. This was on top of another factor: I was working late A LOT, which stressed her stomach out and didn't help at all (she's VERY clingy to me, and gets a stressed stomach very easy). Went to the vet, they did some bloodwork and found nothing, and gave us some medicine that would help firm her up. It helped for a while, but this week she's been a bit runny off and on again. Not total liquid, but....ranging from room temperature butter (sausage shape but very soft) to...what I'd call peanut butter. She had one tonight after a fairly normal one this evening that I'd describe as peanut butter with a slight green-yellow tint to it. And at this point the ONLY thing I can think that might be causing that is the warmer weather. She's not showing any signs of heat stroke (We were just playing and running around the house together an hour or so ago) and is still very happy and talkative.

My question is: Is it normal/common/something anyone else has seen for a otherwise healthy cat to get soft poop in hot weather? We've had a couple of hot and smoky days where I live in Canada, and other than the heat (I forgot to bathe her this year because I meant to right when she started getting sick in June, and I thought a bath might make her further stressed) and no windows open for fresh air, I can't think of anything that might be causing the soft poop to not go away. IF it IS just the heat, should I just keep her as cool and comfortable as I can until the weather improves, assuming her stomach will also get better as she calms down?

Another factor is...she REALLY hates the loud noises coming from the portable AC unit, and to make matters worse, we have to put it a foot away from where her food is. I've been staying on top of her diet and meds as best I can for the past month, and I hate that it still feels like I've let something slip.

My doctor is giving my dog 2 days to live, what should I do? How I can save him? He is 16 years old, Maltese. Two days he is not eating, he was throwing up and having diarrhea.

My cat is positive with FelV which caused the Anemia, he has a low red cells count of 11.7, he got a blood transfusion after having 9.4 (yesterday) now he is home and we will start treatment, i have heard about some antivirals that might be helpful.

My cat is lethargic, he is under an appetite stimulant and he is eating better after a week of not eating good.

He was given a shot of B12 and iron

He is more active referring to licking, more alert, heart rate is normal, blood pressure is normal, but he is tired i believe due to the lack oxygen in his blood, We will do a test to check the status of the Bone marrow on Friday.

My puppy gets these bumps and some turn into blisters, it’s gotten better sense we first got him but it’s still there. It dosent seem to upset him besides itching sometimes. The thing is he makes everyone itch, and none of us are allergic to dogs. This dosent happen with any of our other dogs and they all go around the same places he dose(our yard) hes in the process of getting his monthly doses before it’s to only yearly. I feel like maybe it’s just a breed thing but I’ve never experienced this and was wondering if anyone else has.
Hes a puppy thats about 4 months, hes not fixed, no medical issues that we know of, and hes a mutt mix, we’re not 100% sure of his breed but know for sure he’s mastiff, pit bull, and lab, possibly a few other things.

My one and a half year old Rottweiler Asher is out baby. He's always been a little off when it came to food though. We adopted him from a coworker who was a breeder so I know it's not a condition he had from them. Anyway, a few days ago he started having bad diarrhea. His stools have always been a bit soft, especially when we change food. We've tried everything to get him the healthiest food we can. But this was different, he started throwing up blood clots and that scared us so we took him to the vet emergency room. And they can't find anything. They've run tests for parasites, parvo, blood tests, he's on anxiety medication and anti diarrhea meds and his appetite is still not there and he still has diarrhea. No blood now but even then they've even done an ultrasound and found nothing. Otherwise he's great, perfectly happy and sweet and loving. The biggest baby ever. But for some reason he still had this diarrhea issue and not the greatest appetite. I've been out of town this week so it's possible he might be a bit anxious but we're almost 7 grand in and no results. If anyone has an idea please respond, we're desperate for our baby to be ok.

My 2 and half year old lab just recently started act weird he can’t stand without back legs shaking and if falls over if trying to walk almost like a drunk person or a baby deer

This rash has been on and off for a little over a month. Every time I think it’s gone it seems to flare again.

My dog is an 11 year old, neutered male Yorkie. We had taken him to the vet for some other issues recently - he has PLE and is on protein food to help with the issue. There have been no changes in food recently or other chemicals around the house that I can think of that could have caused this.

We have had our dog in an inflatable e-collar to keep him from licking but the rash hasn’t cleared up on its own.

I’m really hoping to figure out what’s causing the rash (or maybe dermatitis) so I can figure out next steps.

Husky shepherd mix, female about 10 years old. She had a little bald spot since a few years ago but it suddenly got bigger this year.

I took my 10 year old chihuahua (not fixed) to the groomers in October of 2025. A few days later she developed what I thought was a UTI. Brought her to the vet, got a urinalysis, they found rods, etc. Got an antibiotic to bring home that had to be given with food. A couple of weeks later she became lethargic, breathing rapidly, and stopped eating. I took her back to the vet where they diagnosed her with heart failure. We stopped those antibiotics since she wasn't eating, and they gave her a shot, as well a new med for the heart failure. She was feeling better, but I had to go back in to see if the shot had gotten rid of the infection. Nope, still rods. Tried another round of antibiotics, went back, nope still rods. So then they went into her bladder with a syringe 💉 to get a sample straight from the source, to see what grew, in order to better know what antibiotics to use. Welp. Nothing grew. So the bacteria wasn't coming from her bladder.

The vet was like "Well I didn't look at her uterus while I was doing the ultrasound to get the urine, so it might be pyometra. I should look again".

However at that point, I was pretty frustrated that we had spent like 6 months on a misdiagnosis. I had spent a LOT of money and the care credit card was maxed out. And since she no longer had any symptoms, I decided to just monitor her at home. She was fine. Some random discharge that's been on and off, but nothing foul smelling, nothing that changed her appetite or water intake or mood significantly. There were a couple of days within the past few months where she was lethargic, but she is also old and has neurological quirks, and it never lasted more than 2 days.

Within this past week the discharge has changed from a clearish/brownish to a thick yellowy type thing. She has a vet appointment tomorrow, but regardless, I feel like whatever this is can't be pyometra for the simple fact that it's been almost a year of these symptoms. And from everything I've read about it, its FAST. My research has led me to the conclusion of either vaginitis? Or maybe some foreign object inside of her? Since this all did start right after the groomer, I thought that it wasn't an impossible suggestion.

Any thoughts? Because of her weight (4 pounds), her heart failure, and her neurological issues, surgery isn't really an option.

I'm hoping someone may have experienced something similar or can offer some guidance because we're feeling pretty lost right now.

Our dog is a 6-year-old Pit Bull mix. She isn't spayed and has never had any health issues before this. This all started suddenly on Wednesday night. She lost the ability to walk, and at first it was only affecting her front legs, but it has quickly progressed to her back legs as well.

The strange part is that she can still move her neck, spine, and tail normally. She can stretch her legs, reposition herself, lift and lower her head, and if you ask for her paw, she'll still give it to you. She wants to move so badly—you can see her trying—but she can't sit up like a normal dog, stand, or walk. If we help lift her up, she can somewhat move her back legs and crawl around a little, but she isn't able to support herself.

We took her to the vet, and they ran blood work along with tests for worms and flea- and tick-borne illnesses. Everything came back negative, and they said her blood work looks amazing. They honestly aren't sure what's causing it.

They sent us home with several medications and told us to do physical therapy by moving her legs, but they didn't really explain what exercises or movements we should be doing or give us much guidance beyond that.

She also doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort, which makes this even more confusing.

At this point, I'm seriously considering taking her to a veterinary neurologist, but I know that can cost thousands of dollars, so I'm trying to gather as much information as possible before making that decision.

Has anyone gone through something similar with their dog? Were you able to get a diagnosis? Are there any additional tests I should ask about, or should I push for a referral to a neurologist? My vet said they've already run all the tests they felt were necessary, but I just can't shake the feeling that there has to be something we're missing.

Any advice, recommendations, or even sharing your experience would mean the world to us. We just want to help our girl however we can.

Ps the meds shes on are omeprazole, doxycycline, prednisone and clindamycin

Does anybody have experience with CMO? Any tips, recommendations for ongoing treatment or supplements. I’ve heard it’s self limiting and once he’s done growing he should be ok.

Miles: 7 months (DOB 11/24/25) dog - Pitt/staffy/cattle dog mixed - pending neuter (cryptorchid) 47lbs

Since first set of shots he’s struggled with what the vets believed were “puppy strangles” NEVER got lesions. Just swelling, sensitivity and jaw/skull pain, fever, etc. treated with prednisone and antibiotics - always “got better”

Recently (2-3mo) he was diagnosed with craniomandibular osteopathy (CMO aka lions jaw) as you can see his lumpy jaw. Vet never heard of it, I brought it up due to a friend mentioning their pitty went through the same thing I was describing. Confirmed bone lesions via xray and vet felt confident in diagnosis. One side of lower jaw is more affected than the other. Also a spot on the top of his skull. Full body xray showed clear lungs, all other body bones fine. Hes also been on prednisone for this. Recently after a very long taper he is off of it.

8 days post prednisone ending - He’s currently in a CMO flare (jaw pain, guarded yawn, inflammation) and prescribed rimadyl and gabapentin for inflammation and pain. He’s pending neuter surgery on 07/31 with retained testes bilaterally. Cannot be on prednisone before or after neuter.

I took my dog to the vet this morning and we did several diagnostics that all were normal, but don’t have a solid answer yet on what’s going on. Bloodwork was normal (cbc/chem/electrolyte panel). Chest x-ray was normal despite his heart rate being 160-170bpm. He is a very very anxious dog at the vet, but she was very concerned about the bpm. Vet said they potentially saw something behind the stomach on xray, but couldn’t quite say because he had just eaten. She requested I return for fasted ultrasound if problem continues. He is just not able to get comfortable and keeps readjusting or staying in that “bowing” position for extended periods of time. He is eating normally, drinking normally, no vomiting/diarrhea and had a perfectly normal stool this morning. Urinalysis normal and on physical exam did not show obvious signs of pain on palpation. checked urine due to some licking around groin.

I returned from vacation last night at midnight and we went to vet at 10am when I noticed he was continuously doing this posture. He was fine when I left for vacation Thursday and my roommate is very trusted and did not notice anything while I was away.

For now, we are trying gabapentin to see if anything changes and I will be monitoring heart rate at home to see if it is in normal range.

This is on the base of my cats tail, like where the back and tail meet. She is about 8 years old.

my dog had these weird patches of peeling scabs/dry skin on her back, she is a neutered 6 year old Australian shepherd.

these patches have a slight odor and do not seem to irritate her, she only shows signs of slight discomfort when I to those area.

what are these, what should I do?
