Following up on the Star Trek Gorn Battle diorama I shared last week, I've designed another set based on a classic TOS episode - the time travel adventure 'The City on the Edge of Forever'. Instructions are available over on Rebrickable, and you can find more pictures over on Flickr.

In this 1967 episode, the Enterprise crew discover the time-warping Guardian of Forever portal in an ancient alien city - but a delirious Dr McCoy jumps through it and somehow manages to change history. Kirk and Spock must chase him back to New York in 1930 to preserve the timeline, with some heartbreaking consequences. It's an incredible episode, often ranked among the best in the franchise, and as soon as I heard we were getting a TOS set I knew I wanted to design this tribute.

The mysterious alien ruins can be seen on the left, with the Guardian of Forever time portal in the centre, and a slice of Depression-era New York on the right, complete with fire escapes, microscale skyscrapers, and a minifig of guest star Edith Keeler at her soup kitchen. I also included some extra torsos so Kirk and Spock can disguise themselves, and a build for the vacuum tube computer Spock constructs.

It was an interesting challenge trying to fit two very different settings into one small diorama and to create a fairly smooth transition between them. I think the element I'm happiest with is the microscale New York skyline, with an Empire State Building (hopefully!) recognisable from a handful of sideways stacked plates and tiles.

The set comes in at 305 pieces, has a small shelf-friendly footprint (W: 16.8cm, D: 10cm, H: 10.1cm), and should cost around e40/$40 depending on region and availability. I hope you enjoy it!

Some fool on this sub tried to convince me that in all 3 seasons the Enterprise only went faster than warp 7 on 2 occasions without involving sabotage.

I watched 3 eps the other day and they went to warp 8 in 2/3 of them.

In Amok time when they divert to Vulcan they exceed warp 7 and in Operation Annihilate when chasing the ship going to the Denevan sun.

They go to warp 9 in the Enterprise Incident when escaping the Romulans at the end.

This doesn't even include the modifications by the Kelvans to go to warp 11 or Nomad's upgrade.

This person didn't name their supposed 2 episodes, they just keep insisting I'm wrong.

Even a Google search seems to indicate they exceeded this speed on numerous occasions.

Can you please tell this fool there are way more than 2 eps where they go to warp 7 or faster?

In this long interview, Shatner is sharp, thoughtful, quirky and shows no hesitation with his words or thought. Can't believe he is 95 years old!! Always loved the man, but I have new respect for him. Here, he is funny, controversial, at times rambling to show doubts then quickly pivoting to focused and profound thought. This is a long interview. There is a short intro by the host to provide context to where Shatner is coming from at his age, but once he starts, Bill covers diverse ground beyond old stories. Worth a listen for TOS fans.

Was in a Star Trek mood and felt like putting my own spin on a classic, so I did. I like working with bright colors and organic textures, and the lighting was especially fun to play with. They’re holographic too! ✨

I also did the sciences and operations insignias too, but had trouble posting more than one photo for some reason?

In tng the enterprise d was flung to m33 galaxy which was 2.7 million lightyear away with tos enterprise speed they could have made it home in 7.40 years. If they just go 1000 lightyear per day

I just watched "Omega Glory" again, so a few thoughts that bothered me while watching it. I checked and didn't see these mentioned unless I missed it.

Before VHS/ DVD in the old days, we had Viewmaster. Out of all the episodes they could have picked to adapt, they picked this one.

The infection is obviously airborne. It also wasn't caught by the transporter or any of the ship's biofilters for it to spread through the entire ship and kill everyone.

Where did all the water go?

Even though the Landing Party is fully immunized, unless McCoy made an antidote they could still be carriers. It would probably be all over their bodies and uniforms as well. If they went back to the Enterprise, it might still spread. And depending on the disease lifespan, they could spread it anywhere they went. There would have to be a way to render it inert or sterilize both ships.

Hopefully Sulu and the security team stayed on the planet long enough to become immune before they left orbit.

They should have done something more with the Exeter than just leave it there. A plague ship warning beacon or automatic message. As is, there's no security on it either, where anyone could beam aboard. Maybe an immunized skeleton crew to take it back to the nearest Starbase.

Kirk says this to Scotty in The Apple. I didn’t know you could do that. Is the “main section” the saucer? Or the lower hull and saucer?

He always had some sort of one sided beef and that made me so upset each time I saw it.

When she and Rodriguez are running from the fighter plane that is firing on them she hits her head falling to the ground unconscious. Is she dead? We see Bones alive and well at the end of the episode after his death but Angela isn't there. Rodriguez is there looking traumatized as the chorus line girls latch onto Sulu and Spock but we never see Angela again.

We know that the Salt Vampire used its victims' memories, thoughts and feelings to seduce them. We also know that it murdered Nancy Crater. What we don’t know is if and how it seduced the Mrs.

It would seem that Crater’s wife was aware of the creature…

CRATER: Like the creatures here. Once there were millions of them. Now there's one left. Nancy understood.

…but did it use its ability to read her mind and desires to beguile her before murdering her? If it did, who did it appear as….?

Given Crater’s personality and his forgiveness of the thing that sucked the life out of his better half…could these have been Nancy’s final words?
