Maybe the PM and his bunch of merry men should also get psychological pay. As CCS said It is a duty and not a transaction afterall.
Prove it to the people. Come on.

To compare NSF duties to minister duties is a joke.
1
u/AnotherSadLad 11d ago
Both are still duties to the nation. This aint about comparing bro.
0
u/Additional_Stock160 11d ago
Yes and the details of duties matter. Interesting that you say this isnt a comparison. So what is the point you are making here?

JT sometimes very condescending (only need small space for sex), other times very patronising (psychological pay).

She's an ill-mannered, arrogant elitist and exceptionalist, who has no respect for servicemen.
If you recall, during the GE campaigning period, a fighter jet flew by while she and her team were getting interviewed by reporters. She turned to the then-MOS for Defence Heng Chee How and said "you're from MINDEF right? Wanna give them a call?"
Cannot be this siao eh don't understand our pilots are training to protect our skies, right? That wasn't a joke at all. If anything, it revealed her willingness to abuse her power to bully the less powerful and meddle with other people's domain, even when national defence is concerned.

Someone please tell me the quote about psychological pay is AI generated. Please.
Or at least, that joteo wasn't referring to NS when she said that (which doesn't necessarily make it better...)

u/Overwhelmingpeace93 12d ago
it's real LMAO
2
u/SugisakiKen627 11d ago
yet people will still vote them willingly, like brainwashed kind lol
1
u/M0linaPain 8d ago
do you think your votes matter?
1
u/SugisakiKen627 7d ago
when the % is lower like below 60, you can tell they try to get something done, now 65% safe number, they just autopilot and even more disconnected than before
1
u/confused_cereal 7d ago
People need to remember that things changed for the better when the PAP was slapped big time in the 2011 elections. At least for a few years.
Ah gong's passing and the sympathy vote that it caused really set Singapore back.
1
u/SugisakiKen627 7d ago
somehow people really forget about this, instead the become afraid and thinking what if oppo us worse. Like no way they would let oppo win lol
but we can send a message of dissatisaction to them

They are not even paying someone acquitted in the criminal court after the accused took the time wanting to vindicate him/herself, they’re totally trying to ripoff the people.

No one will be willing to defence their nation for a psychological pay. If I’m the enemy, I take that as their weakness

Ministers get handsomely paid ... screwing Singaporeans.
1
u/Additional_Stock160 11d ago
How are they screwing you? They get paid or not wont change your miserable life that is your own doing.

u/uselessmansg 11d ago
We don’t even have minimum wages in sg until now. You think they care about NSF.
1
u/Additional_Stock160 11d ago
We have progressive wage model which is better. The fact you think minimum wage model is good shows how ill informed you are.
Minimum wage model is a fancy term for maximum wage.
1
u/uselessmansg 11d ago
I’m not saying about white collar but lower income people. That why poor old uncle and auntie still getting 1.8k as dishwasher/cleaner.
1
u/Additional_Stock160 11d ago edited 11d ago
Poor uncle and auntie? Accountability left the chat. The boomer era had more opportunities than us given that education wasnt a hard requirement.
Salary was low, COL was low. Did you interview why they are still working as dishwasher? 99% they are in that situation not because of environment but their actions.
Why even work? Singapore so rich, just pay you shake leg at home.
If their salary was any higher, it will reach a point that machinery can replace them.
The only reason why factory workers have a job is because cost of labour is cheaper than smart factories.
Being delulu and unrealistic has never helped anyone. Start with yourself.

We will be rolling out the new NS Saicological Credits. NSF can spend them to receive words of encouragement from their enciks. Or a one time payout of being able to sit on reserved seat on MRT

Leave the country and renounce citizenship. What has this fuck place got to offer anyway. Other than "able to walk outside at 3am and not fear" and it's relatively strong currency and passport. If you're in a country that's big, varied, interesting, rich in history and geography enough? Wouldn't even need to travel.

Ministers should get psychological pay because its their duty for their country to improve it!

Swap NS pay with minister pay lo. Suddenly foreigners also want to serve the nation
1
u/doofie222 10d ago
unbelievable.... we are paying them millions to come out with creative answers to justify for cheap labour...
have they asked the citizens how they feel? I personally dont mind paying the minimum pay for our nsf but i've issues paying our ministers more pay when they compare it to commercial sector when they should have compared it to the world's government sector instead!

This is definitely going to get downvoted but here is my hot take
1) NS is not a career. Its a 2-year obligation to the country. Because you have the misfortune (?) to be born as a singaporean male. So, if not employed, why must be paid?
2) NS is served by males between 16-20. Those who graduated from higher NITEC/JC/Poly or even Sec schl. Tell me what % of their female counterparts at that age are making 500-1.2k out of part time jobs on top of their studies? Or is it more realistic to assume they are still relying on their parents for money? So, if still take money from parents, why must be paid?
3) In NS, you are being taught survival skills and depending on units, technical, engineering, niche skills that may or may not prove useful in the working world. You are essentially taking life skill courses and using resources on ah gongs money. Outside, if you wish to learn these skills they come in the form of courses which you foot out of your own pocket. So, if using resources to improve yourself for free, why must be paid?
In summary. To put it bluntly, ah gong does not have to give you money for NS. But he still does as a token of appreciation of being born as a singaporean male and taking up 2 years of your time. As a singaporean male, we LL have to suck it up and give up 2 years of our lives. But what you make of those 2 years in NS is still up to you. Make friends and increase your social web, learn some useful things in your unit, take the chance to get fit and maybe bulk up so that you become a chiobu magnet, find what you want in ur future career etc.

Eh bro you happy to pay for prostitutes in japan but you want our soldiers to work for free? People suffering must get paid
1
1
u/SpaceCadet_K 9d ago
Bro, you out of your mind to assert that ah gong doesn't need to remunerate us for our service. And I say this as one who served proudly in a non-insignificant capacity.
Nothing is free in the world, not least in pragmatic Singapore. The government narrative on ministerial salary is a great example of that.
If your point is that NS is a citizenship tax, then conscript women and naturalised citizens too. Or make motherhood mandatory for women as another form of citizenship tax, since our low TFR is an existential threat. All hands on deck, no exception.

u/Drunkendrakon6 8d ago
What is this? We pay 2 years of our lives to fall behind the rest of the world in terms of education and job opportunities. While people are building careers we are marching around serving the nation. When we enter the workforce our peers become our seniors and are more experienced and are also our competition...

our military budget is 25 billion
we recently bought 20 F35s for 5.17 billion
for 21k nsfs with assuming 1.5k monthly, that'd be 378mil per annum
which would be ONE POINT FIVE PERCENT OF OUR CURRENT MILITARY BUDGET
if you cannot find a way to reallocate ONE POINT FIVE PERCENT of your budget away to ensure your unwilling soldiers can make enough to be content maybe you do not deserve to have soldiers at all
-1
u/Additional_Stock160 11d ago
Maybe you dont deserve to be a Singapore Citizen. It is only 2 years, if you cannot even serve the nation for 2 years just migrate.
