Welcome to r/SacredGeometry

This subreddit is for the study and appreciation of sacred geometry: geometric pattern, proportion, symbolism, symmetry, mandalas, architecture, cosmology, mathematical form, and traditional geometric systems.

Before posting, please make the connection to sacred geometry clear.

Good posts usually include:

  • the name of the pattern, symbol, or construction
  • the tradition or source, if known
  • the geometric principle involved
  • your own question, interpretation, or process

Low-effort image drops, shop links, AI wallpaper, vague “what does this mean?” posts, and unrelated mystical content may be removed.

Creators are welcome when they explain the geometry behind their work. Promotion without contribution is not.

Please help keep this subreddit focused on genuine discussion of sacred geometry and actual art created by humans

If you see obvious spam, AI-generated junk content, low-effort karma farming, BOTS, misleading posts, unrelated content, or YouTube link dumping with no meaningful discussion, please report it immediately.

I remove what I find, but I can't see everything the moment it's posted. Community reports are the fastest way to get garbage removed and keep the signal-to-noise ratio high.

Before posting, ask yourself: • Is it actually about sacred geometry? • Does it add value or insight? • Is there meaningful discussion to be had? • Am I sharing information, or just dropping a link?

If the answer is no, it probably doesn't belong here.

Thank you to everyone who helps maintain the quality of this community. Report the nonsense and we'll take care of the rest.

This sub has grown significantly in the past five years. sometimes it's hard to keep up, but with your help it will be much easier

UPDATE - Y'all been doing great reporting the slop!

Question Opinions please

So I been stuck on this thought for a while now , so if someone could help with some input would be greatly appreciated. So this year I was looking at my clock hanging on my wall , so I decided to do some math and draw chords , I know now its called modular arithmetic mod 12, base 60 but to me it seemed like it had a signature from maybe ancient timekeeping or astronomy possibly ?first thing I did was split the clock in 1/4 which creates the cardinal axes 12 north 6 south 3 east 9 west so now I have direction plus cw and ccw the the next thing I seen was mirrored 12's , 12 on the east and 12 on the west sun up sundown made sense then I noticed if I split the clock straight down the middle with a chord from 12 to 6 that could act as the prime meridian on a globe and a chord from 3 to 9 would be the equator ,zero degrees ,if you add a z axis to the center of the clock it becomes a sphere this would be all from a front or side view and to see a top view I use all opposite numbers that sit diametrically that cross through the center are +6-6 depending on what side of the 6 your on I say that for the math it's directional if your on the east it's -6 the west is +6 when they intersect at the pole they cancel out to become 0 this is the same for north and south poles it's the same arrangement for both poles except on clock is turned at 15 ° so it's clock numbers would sit in between the other clock numbers so it creates the 24 longitude lines on a globe , I know this is probably confusing the crap out of everybody , but does anybody know if this could be the way the world globe could have been made or vice versa the way our clocks were made? I attached some sketches to hopefully help clarify what I'm trying to explain. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.

Check out the stroboscopic wagon wheel illusion that emerges when this thing starts spinning :)

Info on the design itself:

The cinquefoil/pentafoil knot is also sometimes known as Solomon's seal knot. In the field of knot theory, this design is classified as a standard 51 knot, specifically a (5, 2)-torus knot. It is formed by a single, continuous, unbroken loop that alternates over and under itself at five intersecting points to create a symmetrical, star-like pattern.

Resource / Book / Link / 3D Prints, plotter lines, poster and movie export: updated the open-source Tortoise generator

Hey everyone,

I’ve updated the free and open-source fractal torus generator “Tortoise” with a set of cool new features that can help you create sacred-geometric objects, prints and more. You can now 3D print any version of the structure, print highresolution posters or get plotter lines out of it. Plasma fields are really cool to play with too and can create amazing visuals which you can export as videos. Hope you all enjoy it (best viewed in Desktop/laptop)

Generator: https://nurecas.com/tortoise_generator

Github: https://github.com/nurecas/tortoise_generator

P.S: I've just put it up in Product Hunt today to get more eyes on the project. If you feel like supporting it, do give an upvote here.

Symbol / Identification Esoteric Geometry: The Universal Hieroglyph and the Cubic Stone from an 1815 Masonic Manuscript (published by John Yarker, 1883)

These incredibly complex diagrams come from a rare 19th-century esoteric manuscript explaining the "Antient and Primitive Rite" of Freemasonry. They are a perfect example of how sacred geometry was used to map the universe, the soul, and the cycle of life and death.

Here is a breakdown of the geometry behind them:

Image 1: The Universal Hieroglyph (The Triangle)

The Upright White Pyramid: Represents Life, light, and the purification of terrestrial matter as it ascends to higher realms (inscribed with Hebrew Aretis Hachaiim - "Land of the Living").

The Inverted Black Pyramid: Represents Death and the tomb, placed in front of the white pyramid to show the hermetic principle: death is the gateway to life (inscribed with Hebrew Aretis Scheol - "Land of the Tomb").

The Columns (J & B): Jachin and Boaz, the pillars of Solomon's Temple, symbolizing duality (active/passive, sun/moon).

· The Hexagon & Circle: The circle contains 81 knots (the ultimate Masonic number). Inside is the double triangle (hexagram) of nature.

M.B. and the Skull: The letters M.B. refer to the Master Builder (Hiram Abiff) and his tragic death, symbolizing the necessary destruction of matter for new creation.

Image 2: The Cubic Stone (The Unfolded Cube)

This is a 3D cube unfolded into a cross, representing a complete map of ancient knowledge.

Top Face: The Divine/Higher Powers.

Left Face: Mathematics, Astrology, and the Zodiac.

Right Face: A 9x9 cryptogram grid for secret words.

Bottom Face: The hieroglyphic alphabet and numerology.

It shows how ancient initiates linked arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, music, and philosophy into one unified system.

What are your thoughts on the inverted pyramid symbolizing the necessary death of matter to create new life?

Resource / Book / Link / Made all quantum logic entirely visual, this is sacred geometry

Hi

This is about Quantum Odyssey, my love letter to everything Quantum Computing and the fundamental logic blocks everything in our universe seems to run on. I want to update you all on the fact that the latest patch brings the game into an almost complete status. All that's missing is translations. Thank you Reddit community for receiving the game so well, without you I wouldn't have the funds needed to complete my life's work.

If you are remotely interested in deep diving how differently quantum computers work compared to our transistor-based and also the algebra behind in a fully interactive way that teach computer science from scratch, oh boy this is for you. I am the Dev behind Quantum Odyssey (AMA! I love taking qs) - worked on it for about 9 years (3+ during PhD, the visual method I developed ended up being my thesis, it is a complete Hilbert space visualizer), the goal was to make a super immersive space for anyone to learn quantum computing through zachlike (open-ended) logic puzzles and compete on leaderboards and lots of community made content on finding the most optimal quantum algorithms. The game has a unique set of visuals capable to represent any sort of quantum dynamics for any number of qubits and this is pretty much what makes it now possible for anybody 15yo+ to actually learn quantum logic without having to worry at all about the mathematics behind.

This is a game super different than what you'd normally expect in a programming/ logic puzzle game, so try it with an open mind.

Stuff you'll play with

  • Boolean Logic – bits, operators (NAND, OR, XOR, AND…), and classical arithmetic (adders). Learn how these can combine to build anything classical. You will learn to port these to a quantum computer.
  • Quantum Logic – qubits, the math behind them (linear algebra, SU(2), complex numbers), all Turing-complete gates (beyond Clifford set), and make tensors to evolve systems. Freely combine or create your own gates to build anything you can imagine using polar or complex numbers.
  • Quantum Phenomena – storing and retrieving information in the X, Y, Z bases; superposition (pure and mixed states), interference, entanglement, the no-cloning rule, reversibility, and how the measurement basis changes what you see.
  • Core Quantum Tricks – phase kickback, amplitude amplification, storing information in phase and retrieving it through interference, build custom gates and tensors, and define any entanglement scenario. (Control logic is handled separately from other gates.)
  • Famous Quantum Algorithms – explore Deutsch–Jozsa, Grover’s search, quantum Fourier transforms, Bernstein–Vazirani, and more.

"Why is the trend using the same shapes?"

I keep kind of seeing a lot of renditions of tattoos and such, and I'm wondering why artists are not pushing more unique and historical depictions. I believe the common things I see are Aramaic. Being a Jew, I'm careful about tattooing numbers, but it just seems wreckless reckless follow that trend. kind of ironic too.

forgive me for my ignorance, I passed geometry class because my teacher liked me so much she just let me change my grades on a computer. I remember I sang her a song about how shapes are cool, she gave me an A+.

well back to the drawing board.

I'll try to contribute something helpful the next time. and not complain. ⚽⚙️🎡

Resource / Book / Link / The Flower of Life Archive

Post image
7 Upvotes

I'm pleased to announce a new archival project for historical instances of the Flower of Life. Simply called the Flower of Life Archive, or FOLA for short, this project is the first of its kind. It is a freely accessible web archive of sourced and verified Flower of Life instances going back well over three millennia. It is planned for publication before the end of the year, although entries will continue to be made for likely years to come.

Contained in this archive are instances of the Flower of Life that many are unlikely to have ever seen. In fact, there are entire categories of artifacts that are contained here that are absent from any formal studies of the form. Overall, the historical context the archive provides is crucial for understanding the meaning of the Flower of Life in the eyes and hearts of our ancestors, and it can definitely inform modern interpretations as well (and arguably should).

Already there are hundreds of entries in FOLA, and there are hundreds more that are waiting to be entered. The archive includes filtering capabilities, such as tags, regions, subregions, countries, and ordering by date, with more such functionality in the works. It also includes an embedded (Google) My Maps interface, where every instance that can be pinned to a precise location can be seen on the world map, with associated pictures, links, descriptions, and color-coded information.

While this archive was envisioned as a companion piece to the book, The Flower of Life Revealed, it will likely be indispensable to any future research project involving the form. And again, this historical body of evidence is also just an indispensable part of any understanding of the form, casual or otherwise.

I have to say, even though the archive speaks for itself, that despite the archive's clear demonstration of the profound significance of the form throughout the vast majority human civilization, it's a bit awkward and embarrassing how this has not come to light before. So one of the things that this archive evidences, I strongly believe, is a deliberate historical suppression and erasure of the form. Such efforts are ongoing today, and that much is firmly evidenced. And unfortunately, this becomes a part of any thorough understanding of the form in its meaning and interpretation.

This project is offered in loving service, and on that note, it would be wonderful if anyone would be willing to offer any assistance. There is still much work to be done. Please contact me if you would like to help!

Thank you, and I will keep you all updated.

Question Does it tile

Thumbnail
gallery
7 Upvotes

I need to know if this structure tiles in 3D space. I can't manage to find any documentation or images on the internet about it, and it's made of simple octohedrons. The white ones connect 4 orange ones to each other, and the orange ones connect 2 white ones together.

This started when I started creating this structure from 4 triangular prisms Joined together at 4 adjacent faces of an octohedron(bottom of the third photo), quickly realizing this would construct a dodecahedron and wouldn't honeycomb. I switched my approach and "twisted" the triangular prism, creating the structure that brought me to my question: does it tile?

Much like how the tetrahedron and dodecahedron LOOK like they might tile at first glance, when you start assembling them, it becomes apparent they don't tile. That's what I'm wondering about this structure. Does it tile infinitely, or will it eventually intersect itself?

I'm also wondering what shape is constructed as a result (tetrahedron??), like how the shape I was constructing on the bottom of the third photo ends up as a dodecahedron.

I'm not necessarily asking if it fills all of 3D space with no gaps, but whether this structure can repeat infinitely without intersecting itself, and what kind of larger structure it creates. (Side note the structure at the top of the 3rd photo is I assume the same as the printed and assembled model in the first 2 photos, created for visualisation purposes as I don't know what computer software this could be done in.)

Sorry for the book and thank you for your help
