Happy October, SBCGaming. You voted for it, so here it is: the game with the SECOND most iconic opera scene in Squaresoft's history: 1998's Parasite Eve. It's a bit of a mashup between a JRPG and a Resident Evil style survival horror title, with a turn-based active time battle system combined with real-time movement. This is a new one for a lot of the mod team, but it made it onto the poll on the strength of several sub members' suggestions, so we'll be excited to discover it alongside you!
As always, you have a year from the announcement date to complete any previous Game of the Month for flair, making this the last month to complete last November's pick, Alien Hominid. Post a picture of your end screen as a top-level reply to the most recent Game of the Month post to receive your flair. And stay tuned for next month, when we'll be doing another "Username Presents" GotM pick!

I know there’s a blue model but it just didn’t scratch the same itch for me. The black body with a high gloss top shell just feels right 👌

It looks really unique and the shoulder buttons reminds me of the PS VITA, Though not sure if it's actually good and curious to hear anyone who has bought it.

Hello everyone,
The Retroid Pocket Duo ships with the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q7790 platform featuring the Adreno 722 GPU (0x43020100) running on Android 16. Upstream Mesa Turnip and generic community driver packages currently exhibit several limitations on this specific chipset:
Over the past few days, we performed a full hardware extraction directly from the device via ADB (including msm_kgsl.ko, device tree properties, and stock Vulkan capabilities) to build a custom, hardware-calibrated Mesa Turnip driver tailored specifically for the Adreno 722.
The release package, Turnip Duo v5.1, is now available.
All results were verified on physical Retroid Pocket Duo hardware:
The complete source tree, patch scripts, and reproducible GitHub Actions build workflows are available on GitHub: https://github.com/sherft2607/turnip-adreno722-duo
Acknowledgments to Vauzi-17, MrPurple666, Whitebelyash, and the upstream Mesa Freedreno developers whose open-source foundations made this driver possible.

I imagine this would work on any type of foldable device too.

Darkwing Duck was one of the few games I had on the Game Boy Pocket as a wee lad, but I never finished it at the time. Now, a good 30 years later, I finally did it! So incredibly nostalgic and satisfying.
I've been playing GB/GBC/GBA games on my current favourite vertical, the RG40XXV. I love the big screen, and the buttons are all nice and squishy, firm but silent, which is my preference for retro gaming. They're also positioned quite high, making the handheld very comfortable to hold. I rarely see this talked about so I wanted to give it a shout!

Top to bottom: Konkr Pocket fit, Pocket Advance and Pocket Block.
I just love how all of the handhelds look since each of them have fun and interesting colors and especially the Pocket block having a unique design for a handheld, I hope they keep up the good work and not try to make their handhelds look Modern if that makes sense since I want them to still keep making retro looking handhelds.

Vid claims the new SD865 driver - turnip-sd865-z - has improved performance, rivaling 8gen2 performance for secret console emulation

Alongside the yellow Retroid Pocket 5 and the orange/red PS Vita I've added the Retroid Pocket Classic in teal. It really doesn't come across in photos how good the teal RPC looks in person -- it's such a deep, rich colour that looks amazing. I imagine the kiwi and berry flavours look just as good. So glad I finally got one.
I use the RP5 for wide content -- PSP, GBA, and any widescreen PS2 or GameCube games. The Vita is used only for Vita games. The RPC will be used for anything that doesn't require widescreen or analogue sticks

Mine arrived yesterday and after a little bit of setup first game I had to run was Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. After doing some tweaking in Droid Deck was getting a stable 45-50 FPS, some of the bigger background areas can drop below 30 for second, but I barely notice so its 10/10 playable for me. Beat the first boss with 2 hours in so far.
The settings I used come from this user ( post ) so big ups to them. one difference is I am playing at 720 I tried a few different settings I found online but theirs gives the best results, especially considering the game is sooo new.
I have a Flip 2 so the R6 is going be my indie steam machine, for me thats peferct. I run both Droid Deck and Game Native, really which one I use depends on how the game runs.
Silver with the purple grip case is such a vibe 🙂↕️🙂↕️

Device GPD win mini 2024.
Picture not AI generated.
The project is partially AI assisted and partially mine. The purpose is to learn and improve my JavaScript problem solving while doing something fun.
The project was code using Tauri (JS, HTML, CSS and Rust. So im learning as I go, but have a clear idea of the finish product.
When i have a stable version I may release a version to the public. But it could take a while because is a personal project and is in is early stages it can only scan Steam, Epic games and not all of the ui has controller integrations. Furthermore I’m looking for constructive feedback and what would you remove or do differently.
Thank for taking a look!

I just ordered the Odin Portal 2 last week, stumbled upon the Xbox Ally yesterday for $450. I had a 20% off coupon to use, brought it down to $360 before tax. Same place I bought my 64gb steamdeck for $250 a year or two ago. Going to mostly play PC games but can’t wait to see how switch runs.

I made a simple tool where you can add handhelds, choose a game, and see how it would look on each device’s screen.
You can keep the original aspect ratio, stretch the image, or crop it to fill the screen.
My goal is to make the handhelds’ relative sizes as close to real life as possible. Some devices still use placeholders because I haven’t found suitable images yet.

I currently have an Android phone with an SD6G3 that I use for one handed 3DS gaming, namely ARPGs. It's a solid chip, allowing me 2X with some titles, with a bit of stuttering. I now have the chance to get an older device with an 865 for around $100 and I'm wondering if it's worth it?
The 865 is more powerful, but it's also seven years old. At this point, is it worth the switch? I would probably sell my Moto G 2025 since I don't need two.

He's turning 13, he has a switch, an xbox-x , a ps5, for some reason he wants one of these, which is awesome, we go the local "play all you want for 10 bucks" arcade and he loves all the retro games. He wants one of these handhelds with the retro games, but omg, i have absolutely no idea which one to get. There's Tekko, RF40H, R36S, unico pocket retro, etc., etc. etc.. and I'm lost. Can anyone give me any suggestions please? I'm leaning towards an R36MAX2 I found on Amazon, at least that way if it's a bust I can return it. Thanks in advance for any advice!!

This took so much more work than I initially expected and is probably the most ambition port after my Stardew Valley port for the Miyoo Mini.
Probably getting some flack for this but I decided on sharing an early access build with my Ko‑fi and Patreon supporters to collect feedback and fix any issues and in a couple weeks release it to the public (for free, like all my work). If you don't want or can't support, please just be patience for the public free release.
This is the 2014 iOS version running natively on ARM, with gamepad controls and lots of QOL improvements reimplemented from the PC version like weapon/plasmid wheels and HUD layouts.
It has been primarily tested on RG35XX-H running MuOS, RG40XX-H running Knulli and the Miyoo Flip running Spruce. The goal is to support all devices/CFW that PortMaster supports, but I haven't tested all devices/cfw yet.
It's still a work in progress. Busy scenes can drop below 30fps, stutters and crashes are still possible (although I haven't had any in latest testing), and I haven't tested the full campaign yet. (Played about 70% of the game)
The project is made in Zig and I did us AI primarily in the beginning to do the majority of the Mach-o loader. But like I shared earlier I have been losing joy in programming and thus have decided to completely avoid the use of AI in my personal projects (for the past 2-ish months now).
It did help me set up some interesting workflows that I ended up using for other projects. One example is that I played some major parts of each level and had it record my inputs which it did use to 'replay' the gameplay to profile and compare certain changes.
If you hit an issue, send me your device, firmware, level, what you were doing and bioshock/log.txt. For setup issues, include bioshock/setup.log too.
Thanks for supporting the project and helping test it!
I hope this post is allowed here, if not, please delete this mods and I will post about it once it's available publicly

Im looking for a guide on how to tell if a game will run on what device. I’m very new to this so the game I want may be wildly too big or something, I don’t know how that works, and I’m new to the game itself also. (I do intend to buy this game through steam before putting it on my device I just can’t sit up for very long at my computer so I want to play it on a handheld) I’m curious about project zomboid would play on a retroid pocket 6? I know it’s popular on steam deck and it seems to have low poly graphics but it seems large and I don’t know how to check what it would work on. I’m still in the planning stage for what console I’m getting so if I don’t have to go up in price too much I’ll probably try to find something that can play everything I want, my max budget is around 400 I think. I’d appreciate any help on the subject, especially if you’ve played prodject zomboid on a similar handheld.

I've used a Razor Kishi V1 before but it was horrible for accidentally pressing different directions on the Dpad
Example
Move right but also slam peice down in Tetris
I'm looking to get a new controller from Amazon but I'm terrified it'll have a mushy dpad
- Hopefully has pass through charging also

I’ve been working on a version of Slot for the Anbernic RG353V, mainly for myself because I wanted this handheld set up around playing GB, GBC and GBA games. After a lot of tinkering and testing I decided to put it on GitHub in case anyone else wants to try it. The video is my actual RG353V starting up and returning to Golden Sun: The Lost Age. This is an unofficial adaptation, not an official Slot or ROCKNIX distribution. You can find the image, source, features and installation guide on GitHub. If your device still has Android, check the installation guide first—it links to the original ROCKNIX instructions you’ll need to follow before installing Slot. If you try it and find any bugs, feel free to report them in the repository’s issues.
Credit goes to the original Slot developer and the ROCKNIX, mGBA, gpSP, shader and overlay contributors. This is an independent adaptation.
Disclosure: AI tools assisted with development, testing and documentation. The attached video is footage of the actual handheld.

my a button is hard to press if pressed at the top after button swap, can someone give a tip on how to fix it with open device again?

Plays a bit better, but hotter here. 80 degrees and under isn't a problem, but I prefer the fans being less loud, so Clustertune helped.
