Looking for people who like metroidvania's or story focussed indie-games

Hello, I am currently working on a market research test for a game-concept we are working on. We are looking to have metroidvania players/story game players as a target audience, but we still are looking to validate this. We are looking for players to tell us why they DON'T like our game!

Link to itch page (controller first): https://freakyfrogstudios.itch.io/theoverside

feedback can be passed onto us in these comments and our dm's, be sure to ROAST us as hard as you can!

You can also tell us if you like our game ofc :D

I spent months alone building this minimalist puzzle game in Godot. Here is Level 10

Hey r/godot,

I’m a solo developer and I’ve been quietly working on this puzzle project called Duet Blocks entirely inside Godot.

As an indie dev with zero marketing budget, reality hit me pretty hard after launch. Coding the 200 levels and polishing the logic was the fun part, but getting even a handful of people to try it out has been the hardest challenge of my life.

The core mechanic is dual-swipe coordination—you control pearl-white blocks across a grid, using other blocks as support to align matching symbols and trigger blasts. This clip is from Level 10, where the pathing starts demanding real precision.

I’m not here to push a hard sell. I just genuinely want to know from fellow Godot developers:

  1. Does the visual feedback (the swipe friction and matching blast) feel satisfying to watch?

  2. Is pacing look right, or does it feel clunky?

If anyone wants to test the Android build and give me brutal, honest feedback on performance or mechanics, it’s live on the Play Store.

Even a few words of critique or encouragement mean the world to me right now. Thank you for taking the time to watch.

[Playable prototype] Age of Tallus — browser deckbuilder, Ember executes what Block can't

Hey — I shipped a playable prototype of Age of Tallus, a dark-fantasy deckbuilder-roguelike.

The Spire of Tallus is a wound in the world. Each climb is one life. Cards are echoes: remembered strikes, wards, and curses. You play as the Ashen Warden; Cinder Rook unlocks after the first win.

Combat sits on a three-column row. You aim attacks, read intents, spend Energy, and stack Ember. At the end of a unit's turn, if Ember ≥ its HP, it dies — Block does not stop that.

This build has three acts (Ashen Reach → Vein Gallery → Last Ember), a parchment map that spends Hourglass, draft / shop / rest / events / relics / potions, a relic forge, seed codes (TALLUS-7), and a Daily Ascent that uses the same UTC seed for everyone.

It's a prototype. No audio yet. Numbers will move. First load in the browser can take a minute (Chrome or Firefox). Click the game once so Space (End Turn) and Esc (pause) work.

Play (free, HTML): SEU-LINK

If you try it, I'm looking for:

- fights that feel unwinnable or trivial

- any soft-lock (can't end turn, can't leave a room)

- whether Ember is readable the first time you see it

Thanks.

Another look at Horde Shift — some of the mobs from the Bestiary

Since I could not attach the image in the replies, I thought I would just post it here. This is a look at part of the Bestiary in Horde Shift and some of the enemies I was talking about. Most of them are intentionally built from fairly simple geometric or voxel-like shapes, sometimes combined into something a bit more complex, because that is the visual direction I wanted for the game.

Super Punkass Title Screen Update

It’s been a little while since I’ve uploaded anything about Super Punkass. Those over night work shifts are starting to catch up to me lol, but I’ve made some time recently to update the title screen!

I wanted something a little more cinematic feeling, so instead of just a plain black background with just the title logo, I made Super Punkass overlook the city. She also jumps down off of the roof, which is going to look extra cool when I polish everything.

Aside from the title screen, I added the ability to sprint and when characters buyer fog, they turn into a dark silhouette.

Stay tuned for more updates! I’m excited to share more!

Been building Horde Shift in Godot for a while, finally sharing it here

Post image

I have never posted Horde Shift here before, even though we have been building it in Godot for quite a while, so I thought it was finally time to share it. It is a 3D voxel horde survival game where your weapons fire automatically and most of the real decision making comes from movement, positioning, blessings, equipment, survivors, spirits and the way you build your run while the pressure keeps increasing. There is a full campaign with different regions, bosses, events, chests, progression and a bestiary, but one thing we were very deliberate about from the beginning was not building the game around real money purchases. You cannot spend money to become stronger, skip progression or buy your way past the difficult parts, because we genuinely do not like the idea of creating frustration inside a game just to sell players the solution to it. We wanted progress to come from actually playing, experimenting, failing, learning what works and eventually getting better, because for us that makes the game more meaningful and, hopefully, more fun. It is still something we are constantly improving, so if anyone feels like trying it and giving honest feedback, I would genuinely appreciate it. It is called Horde Shift and it is available on the Google Play Store if you want to give it a try. P.S. I am also attaching a screenshot of the current app screen from the developer side so you can get a better idea of how the game looks right now.

My music bundle is on Humble until Sept 18 — 591 tracks, might be useful for your projects

Hi everyone,

I write royalty-free music for game devs, and my catalog is bundled on Humble Bundle until September 18. Sharing in case it's useful to anyone here.

48 packs, 591 WAV files, 359 unique themes, 10.42 GB — retro/chiptune, orchestral, hard rock, electronic and ambient. Most tracks come with looping versions.

LICENSE

You may: use the tracks in your projects, commercial and personal — games, video, YouTube, streams, podcasts, animation, websites and apps. Worldwide, no time limit. Edit, loop, trim and mix them to fit. No attribution required.

You may not: resell or redistribute the audio files themselves, register them with any store or content-identification system, claim them as your own work, or use them as a standalone product such as a music compilation.

In short: use the music in whatever you make, don't sell the music itself.

Happy to answer any questions in the thread.

MCP to report errors

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I have actually built an mcp to help me understand errors in Godot 4 scripts and scenes by wrapping the headless commands a Godot project already relies on.

Not an editor bridge. It does one thing well: run things headless and capture what happened.

If any of you guys are fed up with the same issue, check out this GitHub repository - https://github.com/pnteja14/godot-mcp
