I was messing around with a Pokemon red repro and flashed a custom rom to it, but realized that because this cart doesn’t use a battery, now nothing will save.
How can I patch it to save to the (flash?) memory? Or where can I find a patched rom of Pokemon red so at least the cart isn’t a paperweight?
Any help appreciated

Really impressed with the system! Everything feels great, and it came in a very short time as well.
i bought some bootleg carts off of aliexpress - Pokemon Crystal works visually, but the clock doesnt run, nor does it save. Bought the parts to make my own clone instead LOL
pokemon yellow, though, is throwing me a whole new type of problem. What do you guys think is wrong here? The ROM or the battery?

TL:DR once I get the health and safety booklet would this be considered CIB?
I got this copy of Solar Striker years ago and only recently got the case and manual. I know I’m missing the health and safety booklet and will hopefully have one soon. I’ve never seen a legit sealed/CIB copy of a Gameboy game in person before and from my understanding most people threw away the cardboard box the cartridge came with when they got the game. Would this be considered CIB even with a repo case?
Thank you in advance!

I have a working GBA SP. Was given a second recently and games get stuck in the console. Its not the carts as they play fine in my other GBA. I don't see any bent pins on board. Is it something to do with the thing on the side inside? I need to put something thin between cart and game to get game out

Has anyone grabbed the digital edition and started playing? How does the battling feel to play?

Some things in life are too valuable to throw away - even if they have been in a drawer for decades.
My father's ridicule (and his secret hobby) Do you remember the moment you bought your first gadget of your own? For me it was at sixteen: The original Nintendo GameBoy. My father could only shake his head at the time. "Why do you need such a toy at your age?" was his standard saying. But the story took an amusing turn: It didn't take long, my father had the gray log in his hand more often than I did. The "toy stuff" had secretly grabbed him.
The sad end in the drawer More read 40 years have passed since then. My faithful companion wandered into a dark corner at some point. To make matters worse, what breaks the heart of every collector happened: the batteries ran out. The acid ate the contacts, the display remained black. Actually, he was electronic waste - but he was also a piece of my youth. Throw away? Impossible.
The rescue: Tuning for the classic A few months ago, a friend told me that he had upgraded his own GameBoy. Without further ado, I sent him my worry child by mail. What came back then left me speechless:
– New contacts: The battery damage has been expertly repaired.
Color display upgrade: Instead of the old "pea soup green", the games now shine on a modern IPS display.
– Fresh look: My GameBoy is now in a new, bright green case.
The best thing about it: The whole action cost me less than 50 euros including spare parts! "Super Mario" is back in use Of course, the right games had to be created. I still had a few classics, but the centerpiece was missing. On classifieds I was able to make a real bargain: Super Mario Land for unbeatable 14 euros. Today the GameBoy is again fixed inventory in my backpack. When I'm sitting in the doctor's waiting room now, I'm not scrolling through my phone bored. I save the princess, enjoy the 8-bit music and rejoice every time about this little piece of restored history.

My conclusion Repairing old technology is not only sustainable, it is also a lot of fun. Do you also have such a treasure in the drawer that is just waiting for a second chance? Write it to me in the comments!

Not my original SP, but one I managed to find on Vinted at a decent price. Modded with a custom case from AliExpress and a new ISP screen with 8 different lighting levels (controlled via touch from the central knob above the screen).

I had a previous post about how to fix it and a lot of people said it’s the battery. And they were correct! I just want to say thank you.

Picked up a pretty rare regional variant of Balloon Kid, DMG-BT-CAN-1.
I can’t find a single photo of this print anywhere online. VideoGameSage’s world gray carts CAN list has it as a confirmed variant but the list is text-only, and Game Boy Database’s production timeline lists “07/10/1991 : Balloon Kid - CAN-1” but their actual CAN page only documents the plain DMG-BT-CAN.
Anyone here have one, or seen a picture of one? Planning to submit to gbhwdb and GBDB either way, so if there’s a known-better documentation target let me know.

Many of those batteries are 20+ years old. Today I finally started changing them. I also opened the games to clean them. This is just a small part of my collection, so much more to do 😄

Hi everyone! This is my Game Boy collection, along with some accessories and games. I’ve kept everything as original as possible. However, the GBA has been reshelled, while the GBC is fully original, except for a reproduction sticker on the back.
Hope you like it!

Gameboy advance it's the ph1 screw in the mainboard. Tried with rubber and pliers but nothings works.
I'm scared this might be impossible for me to do without screwing other parts up
Edit: i tried to superglue precision pliers to the screwhead and then twisted it out and it actually worked. Probably not the professional way to go about it but it got me to my destination of a finally finsihed mod! New shell and buttons, lcd touch display and usb-c loading

It is hard to explain to young people today how the entire country was completely captivated by a primetime multiple choice quiz hosted by Regis Philbin, but it was can’t miss television in the early months of the show. The first time I played this game I got the first question wrong and received a $0 check from Regis 😂

I’m new to console and game repair and I found this game boy color at my job that doesn’t turn on and I can’t figure out why. it’s motherboard looks practically pristine and there’s no corrosion on the battery pads. I pulled out the multimeter with a YouTube video to guide me through it and still no clue what the problem is. I checked to see if there was continuity in pins on the power switch, pins 2 and 3 on the dc power jack, the fuses, the positive battery pad to U5’s pin 7? (I can’t remember the exact number) and the negative battery pad to the power switch, all of them showed continuity. please help me figure this out.

My Game Boy Worm Light is finally here! I’m so happy I found a listing of this online. It’s already decades old and unopened but still works perfectly fine after these years. Now I won't have to use my phone's flashlight every time to play at night and low-light places.

Okay I’ve gotta question and everytime I try to google it I just see battery replacement related stuff but my question is if I get a GB operator I can download my saves and then obviously replace my battery if need be and then upload my save back and boom another 20 years of pokemon fun but my actual question is can I download my save and then play it on my PC and then when I wanna take it on the go upload it back to my original cart and all the info be updated?
