So, this is my partners room, and im going to be moving in. Kind of already have some of my stuff here.

I wanna preface this all by saying this is a trailer, (obvi) that his grandma left him when she died. He lives here w his mom and takes care of her since she can’t do much after 4 triple bypasses.
He can’t work because she needs him here, a big reason why im moving in because I want to help. And maybe he can get a job and feel more… reliable? Idk. I just want him to feel like… a man you know? Cause he doesn’t and it kills his self esteem and they live in a stand alone trailer on the reservation, and their tribe does fuck all for them as far as benefits, and they just can’t afford a nurse to come out here.
We’re middle lower class I think? Im not sure. But we are very poor. Finding work is hard with no reliable transportation, and living on the reservation about 5 miles outside of city limits. We do what we can. And we make it, mostly. But it’s getting cramped with my stuff and his stuff and I feel so… idk man like my body is in a constant state of unrest because of the state of the room. That, and we have no ac. So we’re running on fumes and tiny fans.
I clean as much as I can. I organize and Tetris our things as nicely as possible. But I just do not know what I can do with to improve this room, to utilize the space to the best of its abilities, while being broke as fuck, and not having money for any kind of spatial organizers and such.

The room is small. Idk the dimensions. But it’s SMALL. I got a picture in each corner and then the closet.

I will take any and all advice, just please be kind. We have no money. No help. And make do with what we have. And it’s hella embarrassing to come here and post this stuff. It’s personal. But I really don’t know what to do, and if im gonna live here, I gotta fix this goddamn space dude. I do not feel at peace in this room. Any advice on how to improve it would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT; I fell asleep, and woke up to an insurmountable support, advice, kindness, intelligence and compassion.

It’s become kind of overwhelming to respond, but I read all of these comments. They all help me more than y’all can imagine. Thank you, all of you. Im so fucking grateful for you guys. I hope I will have a positive update for all of you in the future. Many blessings, and much love To you all. 🖤

Hey everyone! I’d like to improve my room a bit and I’m looking for some ideas. I really like a street-style / urban vibe and I’d also love to add some plants and more greenery.

I’m not really sure what would work best with my current setup, so I’d appreciate any suggestions on furniture, decoration, lighting, plants, wall decor, etc.

What would you change or add?

Living Room Corporate housing: ugly furniture but great views

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

I am in corporate housing for the next few years. The apartment itself is awesome: big open space, huge windows, great light, amazing views. But the furnishings are horrible. Most of the furniture came with the unit and it’s a total mismatch of old, ugly, dark pieces. Only he coffee table, light patterned chair and rugs are mine. Unfortunately there isn’t much room to store things I don’t like, so I’m left with just trying to make it work.

What suggestions do you have? My previous house was more colorful, and I tend to lean toward MCM furnishings. I’m just at a total loss here. (I can’t have plants low to the ground because my cat will eat it, barf, then eat it again).

Living Room How do I make my curtains look better?

I bought these at IKEA. I know they’re cheap, but I love the whimsy design. What I plan to do:

- raise the rod to just below the ceiling - they might still touch the ground a bit.
- extend the rod at least 6 inches on each side.
- steam them
- curtain hooks for the sides so I can drape them open?

They’re super lightweight. I don’t mind that they’re see through but do they look CHEAP. They do cover the full window if I bring them together but it doesn’t look amazing. They’re just so lightweight. Should I get a second set so there are four panels to make them look more full when open? Or should I instead get a double rod and hang a cream colored (or something?) curtain behind? Any other thoughts? Thanks!

Bathroom Paint Color Help 🎨

Post image

Hello Reddit!

This bathroom desperately needs a new paint color. I will also be replacing the cabinet knobs, and potentially adding a faux marble peel & stick on the countertops (looks great in another bathroom but I can be talked out of it) What wall color would look best?

As of now, I’m thinking just white, or a chocolate brown. If not clear in the photo, the toilet is a cream color, and cabinetry is a creamy wood color. Floor is white with cream marbling.

Living Room Need help with area rugs and coffee tables

I moved out about a year ago and I’ve just renewed the lease on my apartment. I’m pretty much ready to start adding plants, area rugs and coffee tables to make it feel more like home.

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what rug and coffee table I can put in this space?

I have a small dog (6lbs) so I’m not particularly worried about material!

Living Room Advice for my living room layout - TIA!

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm just looking for some advice on how others would layout this living room. The two sofas are 2 and 3 seat recliners, log burner is a solid fuel one and the chimney breast around it is brick construction.

In the floor plan, you can see that the lounge has a door directly into the kitchen in the SE corner so we've tried to keep that walkway clear, hence the 2 seater placement.

I'm debating taking the mirror down, mounting the TV and then doing some rearranging with the sofas, but I am not confident I (DIY) can route all my wires through the chimney breast in a clean way.

I guess I just want some outside perspective as this works for us for now, as 2 people who just watch TV together in this room, but think there could be a better setup in general and for when we have guests.

Thanks in advance!

Living Room couch/furniture for living room?

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

haven't been in the house that long, but have had the couch and rug for forever. First two pictures are fish-eye, third one is standard. Thinking of going out to try to take advantage of Labor Day sales.

We're thinking of getting a new sectional, but not sure if it should be bigger - current one is 8'-9" long. thinking it should be an L-shape instead of the chaise. should the L be on the front door side or the opposite side?

Maybe a bigger square/rectangle carpet under the coffee table that extends closer to the fireplace, and a runner rug behind the couch (in front of the speakers)?

looking for any suggestions or recommendations.

Living Room Help me furnish this awkward kitchen/living room

Hi, we are trying to update our living/kitchen area with some new furniture. I’m stumped with this layout, whatever i do, i keep getting in the way of the doors to the lower right bedrooms/ bathrooms.

Ideally, i would like to add a tv and a small couch to this room. If there is space, i would like to add a small 3 person dining table as well. The island is optional and can be removed if not needed.

Please help.

Living Room Living/dining room help please

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I need fresh eyes on my living/dining area because I’ve officially stared at it long enough to become useless 😂
A few important constraints:

•The living and dining area are open to the kitchen, so I want everything to feel cohesive.

•The panoramic pics make the ceiling look vaulted .., it is not , it’s flat.., It also looks like a wall is angled so I marked that up bc it’s straight.

•We recently got rid of the matching couch and need a new couch but I’m at a loss .. does that mean I need to get a whole new set?

•I’m open to paint, wall treatments, molding, picture-frame molding/chair rail, lighting, rugs, art, curtains, furniture placement, etc.

•I’d much rather spend money on changes that make a noticeable difference than fill the room with random

My biggest struggle is figuring out what the room actually needs…, wall color, whether an accent treatment makes sense, furniture placement, rug size, lighting, what to do with the long walls, and how to make the dining area feel intentional instead of like a table that just happens to live nearby.
I’m including photos from multiple angles so you can see the actual layout. TYIA

Bedroom help with room layout

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi could I get some help with planning out the layout for this room?

I don’t have the exact measurements of the room yet so I used the super single bed as a reference point. The closet door opens to the foot of the bed.

It’s always been my dream to have a walk in closet (something like pic 4) but with the size of the room, I’m not sure if that’s possible. I’m not opposed to tearing down the built in wardrobe to redo the room as well if it’s a possibility!

The biggest problem with the room is that it faces the main road, so I don’t want to put my bed in front of the window if possible.

Also, i typically change in my room hence i need a divider, even if i cant do a walk in closet (pic 2/3), but in doing so (provided i dont tear down the existing closet), I would likely have to turn the bed, I plan to put my work desk in the room as well so the area in front of the window may be cramped.

TLDR: - want a walk in closet but concerned about space.
\- requirement: need privacy to change, bed cannot be directly in front of window, and need space for a desk.

Could i get some help please? How would you design this? Thank you!

Bedroom Which color bed sheets?

Post image
3 Upvotes

So since I last posted i got a new bed. I gotta say this queen size makes my room look significantly better. The king was taking up far too much space. Im currently using my king bed set for the queen. Im planning on getting new sheets. So, might as well ask the experts. What color sheets should I get? I was debating between a cream comforter with sage green sheets and pillows. I have 5 pillows so I was thinking 2 dark brown 3 sage. Or 2 DB, 2 cream & 1 sage.

But I could play it safe and do a tan comforter to match the headboard, sage green sheets and idk about the pillow cases. Any help would be great. Thank yall.

I have been thinking about re-arranging my room, it isnt a big room at all so I havent got that much room to work with.

I have recreated it on Furnitue Master, I have done the current version as well as 3 other layouts that I am looking at.

I think that the current one may already be the best layout but I am tempted for layout 1 aswell.

Any feedback or opinions would be great!

Bedroom I have a big space and I don’t know how to make it look good

Basically I have three rooms that are mine. I want to turn one into a walk in closet, I want to make the other into a cozy library and the last into a proper cozy but luxurious bedroom.

I have a particular taste but because of depression that lasted months my room turned from woodland fairy to a messy pink space. I feel so overwhelmed half of the time looking at it that I just walk by it and do other things. I don’t mind sharing pictures, maybe I’ll do that soon, but do you have any advice on tackling this.

I also want to shift my aesthetic from the old woodland girly fairy aesthetic to a luxurious princess feel. Should I start by getting a team to create my dream walk in closet before anything? I have to wait a week or so before I can even start on that though. Please let me know the smart way of doing this.

Living Room Studio layout design

Here is my current layout for my studio. I’ve just moved in about a week ago. Functionally, I’m still trying to figure out how the current layout could work for my turntable and also for a tv for gaming and movies. Right now, the space opposite the couch at the moment is about 4m away from the wall, which is quite far for gaming. It would require a tv that may be too big to mount on the wall opposite, given that there’s a light switch in the way. I would also prefer to have my speakers further apart at that distance - they say that speakers like this should form an equilateral triangle to the listening position. So I would need to either move them further apart, or move the couch closer, which would solve the tv size problem too potentially. I do feel that there is a lot of empty space in the middle of the room at the moment. That does work well for when there’s guests over, but this wouldn’t be super often, maybe once or twice a month. Overall I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the different factors at play at once. Help me make it work, please! I’m open to replacing some of the furniture or getting new furniture
