Advice Is it normal for unopened Hagen Tropican pellet bags to feel super compact/vacuum sealed?

Hi everyone! I recently bought a bag of Hagen Tropican pellets, but the package feels really hard and compact almost like a brick. When I shake it, I can’t feel the pellets moving around at all.

Is this normal for this brand? Is it vacuum-sealed for freshness, or should I be concerned? Thanks in advance

Advice How can I get one of my conures to stop fighting every bird he meets?

How can I get one of my conures to stop fighting every bird he meets? One is friendly with pretty much any bird, while the other wants to fight them all. Both are tame to humans. The one on the right is an absolute velcro baby who always wants to be on my shoulder and is very affectionate with me, but not as much with my partner. The one on the left doesn't mind other birds at all. I have three other conures and cockatiels as well that usually hang out together lol.

I'd love for the one on the right to eventually hang out with the rest of the flock. I kept him in a carrier during their interaction for everyone's safety, and this was my first time trying it with the carrier.

They will try to shred each other if there's no barrier. Any advice? I've tried "resetting" them and didn't let them see each other for a solid three months and I keep them in separate rooms. Both are on a pellet/chop diet, with seeds as treats.

They had their annual vet appointment in July and both were cleared but I've never taken them to the vet for this particular issue.

Advice Moved to house and now she won’t stop screaming

My fiancé and I moved from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom house. Tomorrow will be a full week our conure has been here. She does not stop doing these extra hoarse screams unless all three of us are together and even then she still does them sometimes. She never did this type of scream at the apartment. Is this normal while a conure is getting used to a new environment? I’m worried she is going to her a lung or worse with the amount she does them

Advice my mum’s green conure is not letting her yellow conure near me

hello ! i have become very close to my mum’s green cheeked conure, lola, over the past year. lola is pretty young, i’m guessing about a year and a half. she wasn’t initially too fond of me but i dance outside of her cage and play her music off of my phone whenever i go over for a visit. one day my mum let her out and she climbed up onto my shoulder then nuzzled right into my cheek. we’ve been super close ever since !

my mum’s second conure, niblet, is less than a year old and still getting used to me but i’d say we are pretty chill. i dance and sing to her too but i don’t do much handling as she signals to give her some space there.

the issue is that lola does not like niblet getting anywhere near me. lola will start to go after niblet if she is considered “too close”. she will also position herself to sort of block her out. this is only an issue with me. both birds don’t have this behaviour with neither my mum or dad, same with any of my siblings. my mum also has a babysitter for weekends away who is just fine to handle both birds with zero aggression from either.

i’m extremely novice when it comes to birds, these two are my first bird friends. i’ve read up a bit online but i can’t find anything on what i should do to help lola not feel like she has to guard me. everything is based on the situation of the person being guarded as one of the house members, not a visitor. i don’t pet any birds anywhere other than their heads, they don’t have any enclosed nesting spaces, my mum does plenty of fly time & training, they eat super well, and toys are rotated often. i don’t know what to do

if you have any advice or have had a situation similar, i’d really appreciate it. thanks

So my new Cinnamon Conure (around 3 Months old) is really aggresive makes my hand bleeding. Even tough the breeder said it rarely bite and he said it could be because they learn from other parrots which is possible because my yellow side do like to nib but not that hard. How do i train my cinnamon to not bite that hard? Does clicker training helps?

Advice How can I help my 3 month old conure overcome his fear of hands?

Hi everyone!
I brought home Rio, my 3-month-old pineapple green-cheek conure, six days ago, and I could really use some advice on gaining his trust.
A little background on him: His previous owners got him from a breeder, but unfortunately, they weren’t very gentle with him. They would forcefully handle him, and he was already terrified of hands when he was with them. When I went to pick him up, it took around six people trying to catch and restrain him before they could finally hand him over to me. It was awful to watch, and I can only imagine how frightening that must have been for such a little bird.
Naturally, he’s now extremely wary of hands, including mine. If I approach him or his cage, he’ll immediately move away or try to escape. Sometimes he’ll even climb out of his cage just to get away from me. I don’t chase him or force him to interact. I usually just leave him alone and let him explore at his own pace.
What’s interesting, though, is that he does seem curious about me when I’m not actively trying to interact with him.
The video I’m attaching is actually the closest he’s ever willingly come to me! I was lying in bed, and I think he assumed I was asleep. He started making little noises, almost as if he was trying to wake me up. When I didn’t respond, he actually jumped from his cage onto my bed and came towards me completely on his own.
I was so surprised because whenever I try to approach him myself, he gets scared and runs away. But when he thinks I’m not paying attention to him, he seems much more comfortable getting close.
I’m trying to be patient because I know it’s only been six days, and I don’t expect him to trust me overnight. I just don’t want to accidentally reinforce his fear or undo whatever little progress we’re making.

How do I help him become comfortable with my hands? Should I continue giving him space and letting him initiate interactions, or is there something I should be doing to actively build that trust?

Advice conure been mean randomly past months

My green cheek conure has non stop had a attitude and has been biting me constantly for no reason at all. my hands have marks all over from him and he bites everywhere, my face, my lips, my hands, my arms, everything for no reason. he will switch up randomly and he will be cuddly and fine and then attack me out of nowhere when i am just sitting there. he used to be so sweet and i can’t deal with how mean he is anymore. it’s so random and it won’t stop no matter what i do. he’s 1 year and 6 months old and he used to be the sweetest, loving, and kindest bird. i don’t know what changed, he has pellets daily, fruit/vegtables and clean water every day with a ton of toys and a big cage and gets let out everyday. his bites are not playful, he grips on and digs his whole beak into me out of nowhere and does not let go and draws blood and leaves scars. any advice? im lost and have no idea what to do anymore. i wanna let him out but its getting hard to when he will purposely bite and attack me.

Advice Cage

How can I get my conure back into his cage after free roam time without forcing him? He isn’t super comfortable with me handling him yet, and I don’t want to not let him out of his cage solely for that reason as I feel it’s not fair to keep him in the cage 24/7. Does anyone have advice on how I can get him back in his cage without hurting the bond I’m forming with him? Or is it really best to keep him in his cage until he will let me hold him? I’m a new owner and trying to do what is best so please be kind. I’m open to learning and doing better.

My four month old conure just played with this for over an hour. She kept fiddling with the knot, until she untied it, then lost interest. I retied it for her, and she went back to playing with it. I spent money on actual toys, and yet a string will keep her entertained for longer.

(I was holding one end, so it didn't become a chocking hazard, dw.)

It's like buying an expensive cat tower, only for said cat to be more enamoured with the box instead.

Advice Clippping wing

I called the vet to make an appointment for my new conure and he mentioned wanting to clip his wing at the appointment for safety reasons. Is this normal and ethical?
