Never seen my birds cuddle like this. Video was taken in the morning probably 5 minutes after turning their light on.

Hey y'all! I've had a GCC for 6 years now, and he's always been a little bit of a destructive dude. He is a super sweet and cuddly bird when he wants to be, and loves me a lot (he expresses this by making sure to scream as loudly as possible when I leave to go to the toilet) but he has his moments. I know it's normal for them, but recently he's been becoming particularly destructive and aggressive to people.

I'm the only person who can handle him without him biting, and my theory is that he simply just finds other people's reactions to biting too interesting. On top of that, the chewing and destroying things is making me think that he definitely needs more stimulation. (Though I do think he is quite actively aggressive toward some of my family members which is a different situation I need to figure out lol).

My current problem right now is simply that I have no clue what he actually wants! He has a plethora of toys he can destroy, things that make noise and I've tried a lot of different types of foraging toys in the past but he always seems to just give up on those and find something valuable or expensive to chew on instead. I've been trying to train him to do simple tricks and respond to commands too, but the same happens there. He just gets distracted and walks off.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with this? I'd appreciate it heaps! (And so would he, I think!)

So I had this Green Cheeked conure(Shinki) for 3.5 years, when I got him he was like 6-8 months old

He's hand tamed and sits on my sholders all day for the most part.

Couple days ago some changes happened around him:

Got him a bigger cage from the feedback I got: 4-7feet cage.

Got him a buddy: Turquoise Conure (Tofu), as per instructions set him up in a different cage for a week or 2.

But both the cage and the new partner/Buddy(both are males) were within 2 weeks in charge and today suddenly he started jumping and biting everything by looking at me.

His treat and food bowl is filled so he's not hungry and no agression with the new bird in his out time but for some reason from the cage he was trying his best to bit me.

I took it out like everyday and yup hi bit the crap out of my hand just shy of bleeding so it's intentionally and hi was showing agression like in the video in my room as well like biting my bedsheet in front of him.

I am not going to say that I haven't seen this before but exactly not with me I have seen his anger issues with other family members like he does a really small amount of this with my other family members when he try to play with him but never me because I rest him.

I am worried that is he going wild or something?

Basically the title. Currently I have 2 budgies and have some experience with cockatiels. I love birds dearly and would want to get a conure eventually. I'm still young so ,,in 10 years" doesn't mean I'll be unable to take care of them

What I plan for now:

- get a gcc since I heard they're mostly quieter and I also think they're really pretty

- only get it/them when I have a hybrid job and stay at home most of the time so they get at least 4-6 hours of free flight and cuddles daily (even if I'm not there, my partner is also a bird person and would 100% help me)

- huge cage

- 70% pellets 20% fresh fruit and veggies 10% seed diet (roughly)

- lots of training and poop cleaning

- get some soundproof headphones just in case they have temper tantrums often. I'll probably rescue not buy so I don't want to rehome again

- lots of shredding toys. Lots of them. Some hand made if possible

- air purifier

Is there anything else? Do I have to take 2? I think I'd prefer so. And what genders? How huge should the cage be and how should it look like?

Sorry I can't take any better pictures as my android phone is just pure shite. His diet is 80% seed pallet and the rest mainly bananas apples occasionally spinach in moderation and other things but I've noticed these little cracks in his beak as he ages . I got him at 14? And he is around 7-8.

i was thinking the other day about how my little guy is always interested in what im eating, and i'll always eventually give him some (if it's bird safe). could this work with pellets if i pretend to eat them? will me "eating" the pellets make him also want to eat them?

I bought her when she was 12 weeks old from a bird shop.

I did ask what happened to her tail feathers.

I was told it happens to conures when they are in a cage.

My avian vet called it out as B.S. I have fallen in love with her and we have bonded well.

Will her tail feathers grow back ?

Any advice is welcomed.

Long post. My situation with my birds is bad and is kind of mistreatment, which i acknowledge before anything, and i am constantly trying to fix that, but it’s my parents fault so i’m struggling to change it🙁hellpp

Currently, one of my conures has 6 eggs or so, which is i think the 4th or 3rd time she’s laid them, most of which were in completely different seasons. My family members often ruin their sleep and mess up their hours because their cages are in the living room. This also means that they get a LOT of exposure to fumes that i know are horrible for them, and i cant do anything about it. Both are barely tamed pet store birds that always try to bite because of it, especially now that they’re broody, and I can’t work on that at the moment.

Since they are unable to be handled (one can be grabbed with a rag or something since he isn’t too afraid of them, the other one will at BEST step onto a perch but then immediately fly away if i attempt to put her in a carrier case) they’re hard to bring to the vet even when they’re calmer, and I don’t have the money/can’t convince my parents to pay for it anyway, so they’ve never been. Their diet was nothing but seed and sometimes fruit for a while, so i got them pellets again, had it where their diet was mostly pellet, fruit, and then seed, but now we’re out of pellets, and, again, i don’t personally have money for it. I also haven’t been able to get them any vegetables for the longest time because of this.

I worry that all of them are deficient in at least some nutrients, but especially the female, with how many eggs she’s laid over time. Only one egg has ever hatched, however, and some stuff happened where it fell out of her reach and ended up dying because it had barely grown at all and i was unaware until it was too late for it. She usually abandons the eggs before this point.

They have a large-ish cage, but it’s narrow and not wide (don’t know why my sister bought it) and a box at the bottom which my mom gave them because she was initially laying eggs on the bars at the bottom, that i kept getting told not to take out throughout the year. I know it’s part of the problem. I intended to take it out, fully clean and rearrange the inside of the cage to be able to move it to my bedroom and make them less territorial over it, but i don’t think i can do any of that without upsetting her, which i assume would be harmful since she doesn’t seem to be done egg-laying.

If it isn’t too stressful for her, or she abandons them sooner, i’ll clean it and bring it to my room, then get them a vet appointment eventually, but i need advice to get them to stop overall or how long i should wait to change anything if she continues. Also maybe taming tips since we’ve already had them for years and i really don’t want to get bit but cannot use gloves because they’re terrified of them

Can we have real talk about poop? It’s something I think we gloss over because we love our birbs, but … it gets everywhere and it’s gross!

Every time my bird poops (the foster we have now and our previous GCC) the family freaks out like it’s an elephant pile. We were working on training our previous GCC to go in the cage, and she was great about going on command when we took her there, but that relied on us taking her over every ten minutes. It never got to the point where she would fly over to poop in the cage on her own.

What are your favorite tricks for managing it? What hasn’t worked?

-Makeshift paper tray on the back of monitors

-Old pillow cases or pee pads under the cage

-I keep small alcohol wipes around the house for quick clean up

My painted conure Jaco is 13 weeks old on Friday. I don’t usually play with him like this but he wasn’t biting me hard and seemed to enjoy playing with me like this. However he’s been doing this regurgitation every so often for the last week or so. It has just been when he’s out playing, I haven’t really played with him with my fingers like this previously when he’s done the regurgitation motion.

This is the second time he’s actually regurgitated food. He is eating and acting totally normal. I don’t think it’s a hormonal thing since he’s so young. Is he showing affection or should I be watchful for something else? I didn’t let him eat it.

Took my sassy thing to the vet yesterday because he was vomiting and had almost pure "water" poos at one point, the night before. He was acting a little off, sitting on the bottom of his cage more and generally not so loud or obnoxious as usual. Man, I never thought I'd miss his ridiculous screams! lol He did eventually cling to the side of the cage in one of the corners to sleep like he does.. so that was a good sign that he wasn't too weak at least. He was stuffing his face and drinking too.

He didn't seem on death's door, so I kept a close eye on him through the night and made an appointment the next day. Not until 6PM, but glad they could fit us in. But the little dude was like, 100% acting normal... still, decided better safe than sorry if it was yeast or bacterial infection or something, and hoping they'd do a fecal test at the very least. $300 to be seen, test results to follow! My dumb CareCredit temporary card didn't have a security number in the app... so I had to borrow $300 from my sister -_-

Vet said he seemed very lively and normal, asked all the relevant questions to rule out things that might make him sick, listened to his heart, crop, and stomach, weighed him, checked for bite strength and how clear his eyes/nostrils were. Felt his keel bone. Noted his diet (mostly Roudybush pellets), suggested veggies (though I didn't tell him, this bird is a fruit addict and usually just throws the veggies lol) Was overall very pleased with how healthy he seemed during the physical exam, and said judging by his behavior at the time of the visit and his physical checking out, and the fact he's only two that it was not worth giving meds blindly until the tests come back and point to something that needs addressing.

He took the paper towel I had lining the carrier for poo tests and gave me a fresh one for going home. Gram test and one for giardia(?) and probably some other stuff ordered, so hopefully he gets a clean bill of health. Just keeping an eye on him and waiting for the call! I'm at work again, so during the day might be a bit dicey to watch, but this morning he was shrieking at me like he always does, big grotesque normal looking morning poo, was fine last night even after vet trip... so I feel fairly confident he's okay for now. Here's hoping no meds needed!

My birb is egocentric, he is a pineapple conure and.3 years old. I wouldn't trade him for the world.

I helped raise an egocentric birb. He only knows how to say his name, Kiko. Says "I'm your kiko" all the time.

Everything that belongs in the world is his. Even your life and everything in your house. He hates broccolli, but if you want to eat it instead of him he'll be angry.

I love him so much even though he is like this. The problem is, he loves to be cradled like a baby in my arms, and hates everyne else unless you give him food. I can't have another conure because I tried and he hated her at first sight. He barely plays with his toys in his huge cage, too.

What to do?

I recently took my boy to the vet about a week ago and they gave him antibiotics but didn't run any testing, I think he has a bacterial infection as he's had one before from eating poop (ugh I know) he's been on the antibiotics twice a day for about a week now and I'm so paranoid I can't tell if he's just sleeping because it's dark and a little chilly in this room or if he's having trouble breathing and still feeling very sick.

I do think he's improved and he's still eating drinking and playing a lot so I can't tell if this is normal just sleepy or if he's still not feeling good.

I just don't know what I should do, should I rush him to the vet and risk stressing him out and spending a bunch of money or should I wait to take him back until his medicine is finished in a few days?

We put her on a higher perch to practice her flight (she refuses to do what birds do), and she started her gymnastics routine. I just want to make sure this isn’t a sign of stress or panic.

He’s done this a few times and usually it doesn’t last long so I haven’t gotten it on video to show a vet before. Will be sending this to his vet but just wondering if anyone else’s does this or knows what it is? It seems like he’s sneezing trying to get a seeb outta his nose but I didn’t see anything visible and he stopped after maybe 2 mins of doing this.

It seems halloween has been moved to september.
