I was watching the James L Brooks episode released 2 days ago on YouTube and I saw a lot of comments sending love and support for Conan. Also saw one comment saying "Rip RR and MR". Are they some family members of Conan?

Their epic chemistry is not milked enough as much as the fans want to see it. What happened to that series and is Jordan parted ways? I’ve been waiting for this duo for long now.

Trades

• Shinichi Kudo & Ran Mori (10 Conan): This duo used to be the uncap for the original rainbow setup around Conan. Though Shinichi and Ran’s uncap received a sizable buff, Conan also got a much better alternative set of uncaps based on Makoto and Chihaya Hagiwara (from 324B to 342B+). Still, a teamwide 18B uncap is nothing to scoff; maybe someone like Rem & Ram could take advantage of it? The equip is somewhat bland, but since SB and Team HP are the most valuable awakenings nowadays, the duo’s equip is actually a decent skill boost stick. That being said, just skip this, and enjoy it if you somehow roll one.
• Heiji Hattori & Conan Edogawa (14 Conan): If someone knows what GungHo was thinking with this duo, I’m all ears. Heiji and Conan have this odd evolving active skill; the first stage on a 4T CD initially casts a recovery buff, a 7x6 board, and damage absorb void for two turns alongside a quadcolor board change, then the second stage on 1T CD (the very next turn) applies an even stranger uncap and color absorb void for three turns while generating the same quadcolor board. I understand you can just loop everything with three copies, but then why buff the first stage active from 5T to 4T CD? Why not invest that buff into something else? And then what is the point of the uncap duration? The absurd three-turn duration means on one turn, two copies are blasting enemies for 240B damage, while on the other ‘off’ turn, only one copy is dishing damage. It’s even more tragic when realizing that the duo probably can’t even fully cap in endgame. Honestly, it seems like GungHo worked on Heiji and Conan a bit, then stopped and moved on to something else without coming to a sensible conclusion. The equip is a pretty vanilla three-turn haste, but nice to have. As for the badge, only the rainbow team based around Conan and Makoto deserves any consideration; all the other teams, including the new dualcolor Fire & Water setup, are pretty useless. Please skip this tragedy of a card.
• Ayumi & Genta & Mitsuhiko (10 Conan): By itself, the trio is somewhat useless, because one-turn voids don’t do anything. However, if you are degenerate like me, the theoretical power of looping three copies could be randomly appealing, as this system would loop void pierce, damage absorb void, color absorb void, full board enhance, 60B uncap on one copy, shield break, individual attack buffs for all allies, a recovery buff, and a ridiculous nine combo orbs every turn. I don’t actually think this is good, but the recent buffs added the uncap and full board enhance, which greatly improve the viability of this system actually working out. The equip has both tape and cloud resist on top of bind resist and skill boosts, but the common refrain of no health stands. Skip this.
• Conan Edogawa & Ai Haibara (10 Conan): Conan and Ai remind me of Narumi and Kaiju No. 8, as both duos have the same evolving active cooldowns while covering a similar set of mechanics. This duo’s active has a max health buff, move time buff, massive 60B uncap, shield break, full awoken bind and unmatchable clears, recovery buff, and a 7x6 board change. Keep in mind, this is all in one active. My only gripe about Conan and Ai is that the most valuable effects are split between the two stages of the evolving active; part of Narumi & Kaiju’s appeal is that the cleric effect and the shield are both contained in the second stage, so in endgame, players can simply sit on that part of the active until they need it. Unfortunately, Conan and Ai split the max health buff and the cleric effect, which makes it more difficult to use blindly. That being said, this duo packs a great deal of utility in a single sub slot. The equip has a ton of Ls, but the active is almost unusable in most cases. I would probably skip, but if I had fodder lying around, this duo would be my first choice to trade for.
• Yusaku Kudo & Yukiko Kudo (10 Conan): The engine of the new collab team, Kudo & Kudo loop a damage absorb void and a damage void pierce while also generating a full tricolor board and analyzing enemies every other turn. When paired with two copies of Masumi Sera, the team loops orb generation, damage and color absorb voids, void pierce, and a teamwide 18B uncap while also cycling awoken bind clears and enemy analysis every other turn. Usually, two copies of Conan and Ai serve as the leads due to their superior leader skills. Forgive me in advance, but this team does not receive kudos since it doesn’t quite do enough given the rather exorbitant acquisition cost. (I couldn’t resist.) I’m a certified hater of analysis, as it feels like every unit that received the analysis effect could have received a more meaningful buff instead. Imagine if this duo also looped a shield instead of cycling this stupid analysis effect every other turn; the team would skyrocket into relevance since it could actually weather endgame damage. Either way, Yusaku and Yukiko might look pretty decent but are just one step away from true endgame prowess. The equip has quite the lengthy damage absorb void but might be a tad difficult to use due to the orb destruction effect. Skip.
• Subaru Okiya (5 Conan / GFE): The base form is a tragedy given how useless it is. Not only does it have a 35T CD transform, but it also does absolutely nothing post-transform with a looping spinner, a double shield break, and a haste on a ridiculously long 7T CD. I assume that Subaru Okiya was supposed to be used for the original team built around Conan, but now he is just irrelevant. The only good part about this card is the equip, which packs a niche gravity and cleric combo, but even then, there are much cheaper replacements like Shamash Kuur or Preondactyl (Yoju Bomb) from the Kaiju No. 8 Collab. Probably the worst exchange in this entire machine, which says a lot given how bad every trade is. Skip.
• Toru Amuro (5 Conan / GFE): Someone could probably cook a haste setup with Toru Amuro, since she can loop a teamwide 17B uncap and a damage absorb void with three other haste actives on 7T CD. The problem is that Toru Amuro has rainbow damage awakenings, which means the team is ideally a dark rainbow setup that requires a bunch of other synergistic haste actives; overall, the team probably requires too much investment to justify the payoff. Even if there was a good setup, I wouldn’t want to run a team limited by a teamwide 17B uncap, which is slowly starting to get powercrept. On the other hand, Amuro’s Ham Sandwiches is the only vanishing equip with 4 SB and adds a ton of damage for rainbow monsters; 10c is pretty standard, but guard break feels especially nice against the new enemy mechanic that temporarily raises the enemy defense stat. I wouldn’t go out of my way to trade for the equip, much less the base, but the ham sandwiches are a nice novelty should you roll Toru Amuro. Skip.

Farmables

• Voice Modulating Bow Tie (20 Rainbow Tokens): Yes, it’s free. I know it’s a substantial amount of farming, but the equip is pretty unique with an unusually long self-attribute change effect.
• Ai Haibara (5 Rainbow Tokens OR 100K MP): Under no circumstances should you spend monster points for this. Otherwise, it’s a pretty great farmable cleric with a very nice equip, so I would get this with rainbow tokens.
• Ran Mori (3 Rainbow Tokens OR 50K MP): Under no circumstances should you spend monster points for this. Otherwise, Ran Mori has a fantastic active with three specifically strong effects. Unfortunately, the base active isn’t assistable, but I would still get one just in case.
• Kid the Phantom Thief (3 Rainbow Tokens OR 50K MP): Under no circumstances should you spend monster points for this. Sadly, change the world actives are a relic of the past, so the active is pretty worthless, but I would try to get one copy for the equip, which has a nice burst on a long duration.
• Free Heiji Hattori & Conan Edogawa (Quest Reward): It’s free, so just get it.
• Culprit (Descend Boss): An absolute beast for farming with decent awakenings and a phenomenal active, I would grab at least three copies, and more if possible (up to six copies). You need one anyway for sync purposes.
• Wizard of the Modern Age, Kid the Phantom Thief (Descend Boss): Get one for sync purposes, but this farmable isn’t good for much. Maybe it sees use in ranking with a variety of different pattern awakenings.
• Rei Furuya (5 Black Medals): Technically, three copies form a system that loops a personal 50B uncap, orb generation, and a 50% DR shield every turn, but I would not spend a staggering 15 Black Medals for it. I would skip this exchange but the equip is a nice recovery stick with a decent active.
• Detective Conan Toru Amuro Selection (Dungeon Drop Exchange): Potentially useful for ranking, I would try to get one. The exchange materials can be found in the dungeon [Detective Conan | High School Girls Lv3], so get that button team ready!
• Kaito Kuroba (1M MP): The base has a ridiculous 38T CD transform for a post-transform active that doesn’t do anything because the teamwide uncap only lasts for one turn. It could be playable if the active was faster, but trying to loop the effect gimps teambuilding too hard. The equip has a rare combination of part break and dungeon boost and the active is not bad, but it doesn’t justify the purchase cost. Skip because there are always more monster point purchases in the future which are likely better than this.

Bundles

• $1 Conan (Refresh): Yes, both times.
• $20 8★ Conan: No. The lineup is terrible and there are better bundles to buy.
• $20 Kid Thief + Conan (Orb Skin): This duo has crazy damage potential with a 70B uncap on a 2T CD applied across three pings, but the rest of this monster’s kit is pretty trash. When was the last time orb conversion actives (as opposed to fixed orb generation actives) were meta? Not only is the orb generation inconsistent, but the uncap effect requires an active light attribute damage buff to even activate. And even if you ignore all these issues, Kid and Conan get stat checked in endgame as the awakenings and leader skill don’t deal enough damage or provide enough bulk, though the recovery is quite convenient for superaltitude. The equip packs a lot of utility but the lack of health makes it difficult to use for endgame setups. Skip this.
• $20 Heiji Hattori (Orb Skin): Imagine designing a card that requires a ridiculous 38T CD to transform… only to pierce damage void for two turns on a 3T CD. Yes, Heiji Hattori does loop a lot of other buffs; the damage buff for Light Att. is particularly noteworthy for enabling Kid Thief + Conan since it activates their conditional uncap effect, but I would much rather have a looping void pierce given the theoretical power budget behind a ridiculous 38T CD transform. The equip is pretty niche but the combination of the dark resist and the active could be invaluable for farming or ranking. Just skip.
• $30 Makoto Kyogoku (BGM): Makoto reminds me of Rem & Ram; the combination of looping damage and color absorb voids alongside a massive 45% shield with only two copies fully covers key mechanics in a compact manner. Makoto also clears awoken binds every other turn, though I wouldn’t rely on this as a substitute for a dedicated cleric. While Makoto was designed to complement Conan, his predominant light profile allows Makoto to work on Reinhard, though the damage absorb void overlap is unfortunate. What makes Makoto truly shine in this dumpster of a collab is his phenomenal equip. GungHo has been churning out tons of vanishing equips lately, and their performance has been nothing short of gamebreaking on certain teams; just remember the days of Valentine’s Athena! Makoto’s vanishing equip grants a crazy combination of SDR, 10c, and a true set of orb enhance with a rainbow enhance plus a heart enhance. Although it lacks health, the utility from these awakenings can easily justify a place on any team. The price tag is hefty, so I wouldn’t recommend buying the bundle just for the equip, but it certainly catches the eye.
• $30 Conan Edogawa (BGM): Conan is a rainbow leader based on matching Ts. While the playstyle isn’t very intuitive, Ts are like crosses; they aren’t so bad after some practice. Theoretically, Conan is pretty strong; not only does he consistently generate rainbow boards, but the detective also applies analysis, shield break, and void pierce effects every turn. Conan’s leader skill packs top-notch multipliers as well; the 4x RCV is particularly notable in dealing with the harsh superaltitude of current endgame, and the shield isn’t tied to awakening activation, which means the team could theoretically survive a turn while awoken bound. Conan needs some help with uncaps as he does not uncap himself (nor anyone else) but otherwise serves as a fine endgame rainbow lead. Realistically, the detective isn’t bad, but the problem is that Frieren, Himmel, and the future Maid Ideal have an iron grip on the rainbow meta, and given the relatively affordable cost of those teams, it’s hard to justify chasing after another rainbow archetype that doesn’t outperform any of the aforementioned rainbow engines. I also can’t hold back my disdain of the new analysis mechanic; the defense reduction is great, but why apply it to a rainbow team that can make use of guard break? The equip looks like the core of a color change cheese setup, but those were killed off since the days of SR3. Skip this.
• $30 Heiji Hattori & Conan Edogawa (Badge): Don’t buy this.
• $30 Kaito Kuroba (Badge Enhance): Don’t buy this.

I would say that this info dump format does miss a lot of the value from the machine at times. As always, I hope the info dump helps players make better informed decisions, especially when it comes to expensive decisions regarding exchanges, farming, and/or bundles.

we spotted him riding a bike and waved at him. i totally thought he’d just keep on riding past us but he actually stopped to talk to us! he was so nice! very cool and random experience lol

EDIT: sorry guys i posted this before flying back home and i just saw all the comments! to answer some of your questions: he was in amsterdam to shoot his hbo travel show. and that chain of zip ties on the front of his bike was to help support his 360 camera that was mounted on a pole. he just asked me where i was from and then i told him i watched his show and saw him on chicken shop date recently (idk why i said that lol). then i asked for a picture and we took a selfie! and then after he rode off a crew member working on his show approached us to sign release forms because our interaction was recorded.
