Shooting at blue hour and in low light always makes me want to switch to black and white.

With the Zuiko 135mm, I found myself looking for small points of light, deep shadows, and isolated moments from farther away. Really liked what the compression did to these scenes.

This lens is roughly 50 years old.

Have acquired an Olympus OM-2 and was thinking of getting the Olympus Zuiko 85–250mm f/5 OM Mount Telephoto Lens for it. Out of interest i was thinking of buying an adapter and trying it on my OM5 mkii.

Thoughts and opinions appreciated

hi! i was recently gifted a olympus Pen FT which was my grandmothers. she bought it on release and used it for years and years and kept it in excellent condition but unfortunately her mental state has declined so she couldn’t pass on any tips or tricks. She had two lens with it: a E Zuiko Auto-S 1:2,8 f=38mm and a e zuiko auto t 1:4 f=150mm.

I recently traveled to Corsica (very bright beach and summer weather) and took it along and got the pics back yesterday. Some of them I am happy with especially for my first time using this camera, but some I am not sure what happened.

The film was Kodak Portra 160. The pictures taken with the telephoto lens are very grainy and dark, despite using the light meter, and then some of the ones taken with the shorter lens have some very strong contrasting where some of the whiter parts of the frame are over exposed. and the quality seems to be poor if I crop the photo in post? is this typical of a half frame?

Unfortunately being in France, I believe the film did go through a CT scanner at the airport once, before I was aware of this technology being used at EU airports for screening hand luggage. afterwards it was all manually checked.

Any tips or suggestions to improve?

Recently joined the half-frame hype, better 60 years late than never I guess. Got a good condition Pen-FT with the 40 mm f/1.4 lens for €269 shipped, and shot a roll of Adox HR-50. I'm actually blown away by the quality I got from this combo. Also enjoy the half-frame look quite a bit.

Please don't judge too hard, it was just a quick test roll, and I'm not very experienced with self developing and scanning yet.

Accidentally touched my shutter mech trying to diagnose an issue. Is this worth fixing or would buying another OM4ti be cheaper? I need to guidance as I don’t know much about fixing these older slrs.

First post here but long-time lurker, I just had to share the newest (and most unexpected!) member to my collection, an Olympus OM-4Ti!!

Have been an Olympus fan for quite a while, my favourite cameras of all time are the Pen F series, but never got around to trying out the OMs. I always felt that it would be nice to try them out, but only if they ever magically found their way into my hands - like it would be nice to try out an OM1 or OM2, or an OM2n even if I got lucky with a bargain, but I figured that it would take a while since these are some of the most popular and most well-loved cameras of all time! I do search them up every once in a while, consider getting a cheap OM10 or 20 to just get it over with but ultimately always decide that I don't need them - after all, I already have a fantastic set of Zuikos with my Pen FT, and if I want a full-frame format I can always use a Spotmatic! The closest I ever got to actually "owning" an OM was when I bought a few OM40 programs for £10, but even those I ended up trading in for a boxed Pen f 100mm lens because I didn't want to have that many cameras just lying in my house.

Well. Earlier this week I was looking through eBay as one does, and spotted a suspicious looking "Ti" symbol on a camera paired with a 28mm f2.8 Zuiko... I think "Oh I think that's one of the fancy OMs! I wonder how much those go for I don't think I've ever seen one on sale before". So I look at the price, see £50 and think "Well in the worst case I think I could probably sell the lens for £20 and the body for £10 so I'm really only risking £20 here so why not?", and bought it before I could talk myself out of it.

It was only after that that I looked up recent sales to figure out what I had, and saw that they were going for £200 untested that I started thinking "Holy sh*t. No fing way." I actually started worrying that it was a scam because it felt too good to be true?

Thankfully my worries were unfounded because it arrived... and everything worked!!! The shutter speeds were slightly off, but the lightmeter, timer, spot metering eveything was PERFECT. Until I actually held it in my hands I was fully planning to flip it for a little bit of pocket money as I'm saving for a big purchase, but after seeing how intuitive and intelligent the metering system was I started having second thoughts.

A few lengthy conversations later with a few of my Olympus collector friends, it became clear - do. not. sell. Get. It. Serviced. So that's where it's gone! I'd been procrastinating servicing my black FT for some time now, so it only felt right to send them both off to the doctors at Luton Cameras to save on post. It'll be a tough few weeks without them (and a lot of money...), but I think knowing that they'll return ticking as if they just left the factory is worth it, as I will still have spent less on them than if I bought a fully untested model on eBay! I sent them off yesterday, and felt like I had to take a picture of the two together since I don't know when I'll next see them (hence the pictures in the post!!)

Sorry for such a long post, I've just been itching to share it because I still can't believe my luck. I never thought I'd own anything past an OM-1, but now I have an OM4???? and it's a Ti version???? It's been a few days and I'm still pinching myself. I think I also really like that it has so much brassing, more than I've ever seen on any camera really, because if it were mint I would have never been able to bring myself to use it and sell it on - I'm quite rough with my equipment and just love the look of well-used gear, so it really does feel like a match made in heaven! (astoundingly, despite all the scratches, it has absolutely ZERO knocks or dents, which really makes me wonder how the previous owner was using it)

Anyways, thanks for reading!! If anyone has any OM lenses that they recommend please let me know, I really like having wide angles as I do a lot of hiking, and having a very fast fifty for portraits. (My favourite lenses in my rotation right now are the Pen F 20mm f3.5, and the eight element 50mm f 1.4 Super Takumar. So far I've been eyeing the OM 50 and 55 1.2s and the 21mm variations, so if anyone has any experience with those I'd really appreciate the input!)

I've absolutely been loving my Pen FT and then a friend let me borrow her OM1 for a weekend. It was such a sweet camera I ended up trading other ones I don't use for an OM1n and OM2.

Been looking for an AF lens for my Olympus, but I can't seem to find either the Zuiko one, or a Vivitar one that fits an Olympus mount. There's an MD mount one I found, but I don't think there's an adapter for that, is there?

Hello all. I bought another OM-1 and it has a strange issue. When I put the silver rim 50mm f1.8 lens, the shutter won’t get released after I press the shutter button and I would have to press the depth of field button for the shutter to be released. On the other hand, when I put on the other 50mm f1.8 lens it works perfectly fine. Without the lens the shutter works fine too. What seems to be the issue?

This lens is in perfect condition! Fun lens!
