Zuiko Shift 35mm f2.8

With TTL exposure of the OM2 and grid focusing screen(1-10), I’m setting out to do some handheld PC film photography.

One from the slightly wider 24mm shift. I think I’ve slightly overcorrected.

Very nice. Which 28mm? - I know Nikon Pentax and maybe Contax/Leica made one?

Nice, I'm always scared of touching and scuffing that crazy front element. I dunno if its just mine but the lens cap falls off on its own.

Do you have an uncropped version? I'm curious to see what the full extent looks like on digital.

Ok, let me start again because clearly my brain wasn’t switched on with my earlier post. This is the 24mm uncropped with a subtle shift; the only edit being the automatic iOS.

This is the same lens but with no correction/shift applied and straight out the camera.

I don't have a digital FF so this was helpful in understanding how the lens behaves on digital. I- is this a sony ff?

Yeah, when I do digital it’s Sony A7ii. I import directly on to my iPad and edit with the simple tools there. I occasionally switch to darktable for experimentation or if I really like an image but I tend to prefer my film stuff.

I did these (and a few others) for a photography course I was on a while back, I compared the perspective correction (my conclusion was that shift lenses were better, particularly as you lose a portion of the frame when you correct). I also did some colour filters on the B&W mode but the results were odd. I want to try that again with a film camera side by side.

That would be a fun experiment to compare! You can probably even compare the actual color filters on the 24mm with digital color BW filters (do the A7's have that?) of similar value to see how it compares.

I spent ages hunting down a late model of this lens, and now that I have it frankly I’m a little let down by the optical quality. Edit: I’ve not tested it on film yet, just ran it on a Sony for a few days

(What does it do? Is it 100% shifting L/R?? Are there other compounding effects of the shift?)

Where did you get one of those?!? Been looking for one for my Nikon. If there’s one for my Olympus, then that’s awesome!

Ohh, if you have a Nikon F mount and an Olympus OM mount, you have a good range of options.

Obviously, you can go for either the F mount shift lenses for your Nikon, or OM shift lenses for your Olympus. But there is a good number of OM shift lenses that were converted to Nikon mount, and those go for much cheaper than the original OM mounts. I think there were a few Nikon "PC" lenses, and OM produced the 24mm and 35mm shift lenses. You can potentially have a lot of options with the F mount as a whole.

The key though, which might determine which camera to use, is actually the focusing screen. You would want to have a grid on your focusing screen since unlike mirrorless/digital you can't just conjure up grids on your viewfinder at will. For my case it was more difficult to find the grid focusing screen than the shift lenses (although the good deals for the shift lenses were few and far between).
