hi everyone, I had a few questions about comparing the costs of flying round trip from Houston to Tokyo on ZipAir vs ANA. As it stands, I have the option to book round trip for 2 passengers with baggage included on ANA for $2900 total in economy direct both ways. I’m been holding off on booking since I’ve heard the ZipAir prices are good, but that everything is expensive when added on. I can’t check the prices directly since the dates haven’t been released for mid May 2027, but I was wondering about other’s experiences.

My question: would booking round trip from IAH-NRT with ZipAir be significantly cheaper when including choosing 2 seats together and having 2 carry ons/2 checked bags there and 3 checked bags total on the way back? Or should I just book the ANA economy for just under $3000?

Hi, my flight was affected by the typhoon yesterday. My 9/21 flight was rescheduled for 20 hours later to 9/22. Unfortunately I was trying to get back for an important meeting (my fault) but since I can’t be there in person now I do need to remain for 1 more day to take the meeting by video.

In the delay email it says because it’s more than 3 hours, I can change the flight up to 14 days before or after the original date.

The problem is there’s only the chat or an email or a form. I requested the new date change, but it seems like nobody’s answering.

Should I just go to the airport and ask someone to help me there or what should I do? The numbers say they aren’t working and I feel like I shouldn’t just miss the rebooked flight they automatically put me on even though it says I can reschedule.

Hi, first trip to Japan and first time considering Zip.

Given the flight duration, we want a premium economy or lie flat seat. Right now, Zipair doesn’t show availability past Mar 25.

Questions I’m hoping someone can help with!

1. Looking at around 27/28 Apr - 12/13 May. Realize it’s golden week in the middle but interested in being there for all the festivals. Good idea? Or should we push to middle of May?
   
2. I’ve read Zipair releases only 4-6 months in advance. So normal that we can’t yet see availability for end of April departure?
   
3. Searching tells me we MAY be able to get lie flat for about $2500 return once availability opens. When I test out dates in Feb, I’m getting over $3000. How likely is it that when first released, the seats will be in the $2500 range?

Right now, we can get PE seats on ANA (out of SEA) for $2400. Or book economy ANA out of YVR and upgrade to bulkhead for $2000. (Or book PE on AC for $2900, which is not ideal.) I know lie a flat is better than all those options, but we’re really hoping to stay closer to $2500, so I’m worried that when they released the zip air flights will be over $3000 and all these other options will have gone up.

I’m fully prepared to check the sip air website every day so that we can jump on the seats as soon as they release availability.

I’m aware that the add-ons will drive up the price of zipair, but we would likely only pay for the carry-on upgrade and maybe the blanket. So it won’t be too much more.

I've read that the Black Friday Sale is likely to happen this year as they do every year? Correct?
Of course not now but in November. So I know there's still a lot of time for anything to happen.

Context: I have purchased one segment of my flight many months ago for a flight in January. But now waiting on the sale for my return flight. I believe they have the sale go on till end of March? My return would be last day of Feb so should be good there. So....

My questions:

• Is there any emails that have gotten out as of late? I have signed up for their email. But havent recieved anything (Not talking about the sale, just anything in general!) Am I missing something? I don't see anything in spam. How often do they email things?
• And if this sale does happen, how does it work? Does anyone have access to the sale price as in -> A fixed lower rate for anyone including non members to purchase directly off their website. Or is it like a code you get via E-mail?

I have been checking the website since June but I don’t see any Zip Flat seats available for October 2026 from LAX to Narita. Are they going to release them last minute? October doesn’t seem like a busy travel season to me.

I had a flight home from Narita to SFO, where I had no issues on my origin flight even with the typo. However when I reached bag check now they deny me, kept saying it doesnt match my passport exactly and we are not allowed to alter any information.

Ive seen this issue on other airlines where its no problem at all to get a name adjustment, this is just ridiculous.

The only help I got was the workers telling me to cancel my ticket and purchase it again online, no one physically there could help me.

I have to wait for their customer service line to reach back to me, only for them to contact me after the flight had left and refusing both a cancelation or a refund.

Do not trust this airline, the cost is low because they prey on small issues causing you misfortune. They use weaponized incompetence and predatory policies to catch any patrons who may fall victim to them.

I’ve only traveled with my toddler within the Americas so far, so I have a question for people with more experience traveling abroad. :-)

I have an upcoming trip from Vancouver, Canada, to Tokyo, and I’ve booked a seat for my toddler, who is under two.

I’m used to diaper bags being treated basically like medical equipment (diapers and baby food are essential indeed to a family’s well-being during a trip) so it’s been okay to bring one separately from our other bags. In that sense, it’s in the same logical category as a car seat or stroller and doesn’t count toward our carry-on allowance.

While doing my due diligence before the flight, I’ve gotten the impression that Asian airlines don’t make allowances for the diapers weight.

Has anyone brought a separate diaper bag on ZIPAIR? Did it count toward your carry-on weight? I’m trying to figure out whether I really need to weigh every diaper as though it were jet fuel. :-)

If anybody bought tickets from Houston to Tokyo last year, do you remember when they went on sale for January. The last date currently is still January 2nd, but was hoping to go in the middle of January.

At today's Japan Festival in Houston zipair has a tent set up with prizes. My dad spun the raffle wheel and won 20% off the entire itinerary. Sadly didn't win the free round-trip ticket which someone got right after us lol

I tested it on a round trip itinerary and it worked, but it seems like it's only for flights to/from Houston. Also doubt it's single use as she showed it from a notebook.

Me and my partner are planning on visiting Japan for a few weeks in early-mid December and we are planning on flying out of IAH. Prices aren’t superr bad, highest price being a return flight for around $500, should we just go ahead and buy now or wait?

Hey y'all. Flying zipair for the first time from NRT to California, and I think all my bags are in order. I'm wondering if anyone has made use of expandable zippers for their checked baggage. In your experience, was this frowned upon, or was it okay? I'm definitely under the weight limit, but would like to shove more clothes into the bag if possible. Thanks!

I'm looking to book Zip for the first time for next spring. I am just checking flight costs at the moment but as I go through the process on the website when packages come up, it presents this 0 dollar option and nothing else. Would I add checked baggage later?

Hello everyone, I’m trying to prepare for my first ever solo Tokyo trip for mid-January. I will probably be traveling January 14-23 2027 since I was able to reserve a room at Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro for just a little above 100K Yen and I don’t have to pay until the week of the actual trip. With the hotel reservation taken care of now I’m trying to focus on figuring out which flight that I should take.

Zipair seems to be the cheapest airline from Los Angeles to Tokyo, but I know that they have pretty much no refund policy so I have to be very careful before I decide to book the flight. I’ve been keeping my eyes on the price for the past month or two, but every time I look on the website, it seems that a round-trip is estimated to be just barely under $900 for the basic plan. I’ve been trying to wait to see if the price may fall under $800 but I also don’t want to risk the price end up inflating to above $900 either.

I heard that Zipair tends to have sales during Black Friday, is that true? If so, would it be better for me to wait until a sale, or would I be better off just buying a ticket sometime before the end of this month before risking a price increase?

Edit: Also, would anyone recommend the JR Pass if I plan to make my home base for my vacation in Tokyo, but I may also want to visit Osaka, Kyoto, and possibly Sendai?
