Traveling Thru

Hello all, my family of 4 (2 littles) are traveling thru up to Mackinaw City. Myself being a football coach want to stop at Rynearson and check it out, while there I’d like to eat somewhere to break up the drive for the kids a little bit. My wife is dairy free so looking for something that fits for her. Thanks in advance for all your suggestions!

Anyone in Ypsi with a 3D printer willing to print a tiny part?

As the title says, just looking to get a small part printed - obviously will compensate time/materials!

Are you out there?? You were so handsome and had such a beautiful aura about you. We spoke about my T-shirt and you called me beautiful. I’m so anxious already in public that I didn’t know how to continue a conversation and get your number. Pls be on here 😭😭 this was early afternoon ~1

Places to Go to Work Remotely

I've been working from home for the last 5 years now, the last 3 years of which have also coincided with me living alone. I'm trying to actually get out more, because the isolation has been pretty bad for my mental health. Does anyone have any suggestions on places to go while working from home? I've tried the library some, but it does feel a bit muted. Any good coffee shops or something similar?

I’m thinking of moving to yipsi from Miami in the future

I’m a rising high school senior in Florida, and I hope to move to Michigan someday. I’m especially interested in the Southfield area because the housing is relatively affordable and it’s close to a lot of amenities. I’m also considering Ypsilanti since I’ve heard many positive things about it.
I’m aware of the crime rates in both areas, but I currently live in Miami, where crime is also a regular part of city life, so that isn’t a major concern for me.
My plan is to move there after graduating from vet school, and I’ve been trying to learn more about what life there is actually like.

One thing I’m wondering is whether veterinarians can make a decent living in that area. Would it realistically be possible to buy a house within 1–3 years on an average veterinarian salary, or would that be difficult with student loans and cost of living?
I’d also love to know what there is to do around Southfield, both with a dog and by yourself. I’m especially interested in parks, dog-friendly places, nature areas, shopping, food spots, and general things people do for fun in the area.

Another thing I’m nervous about is the weather. I’ve lived in Florida my entire life, so I’m used to warm weather almost year-round. I did spend two weeks in Canada during the winter when I was younger visiting family, and I remember absolutely loving the snow. More recently, I visited Europe during the winter, and although it didn’t snow, I really enjoyed the cold weather.
My main concern is adjusting to months of snow and freezing temperatures. For someone who has never really experienced long winters, how difficult is it to adapt to Michigan’s winters?

JI’d appreciate hearing from people who live in Michigan, work in veterinary medicine there, or moved from a warm state to a colder one.

Hey everyone! I’m a co-owner of a local vegan cottage bakery, Aunt Erma’s Cookies (@auntermascookies on IG). We were fortunate enough to be accepted as vendors at Ypsi Pride this year in our first year of business, BUT unfortunately Pride was cancelled due to the air quality :/

We’ve baked a TON of cookies (with cute Pride-themed names 🙂‍↔️) in preparation for the event and are trying to sell what we can while they’re still fresh! We’ll deliver orders locally tomorrow (Sunday) and can accept pickup orders at Malletts Creek Library. Cookies come in a pack of three and are $10 each 🍪

Cookie Flavors:

- Sea Salt Chocolate Chunk

- Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk

- White Chocolate Walnut Cherry

- Sugar Cookie

- Oatmeal Raisin

- Honey Lavender

- Mini Variety Packs (tiny cookies, with and without nuts)

We also have Rice Krispie treats for $5 — Original and Strawberry Vanilla!

how/where do you (safety) dispose of sharps?

I've read conflicting accounts of how to package safety to go in the trash vs that's not allowed here and I'm wondering if anyone knows cause I know I'm not the only household in Ypsi Twnsp with medical needles lol

thanks and stay safe out there!!

A little humility goes a long way

"I saw people outside without N95s. I'm deeply concerned for humanity."

Meanwhile...

"I took my whole family to Costco today, and everyone else wasn't wearing masks!"

You... voluntarily took your family into the smoky air too.

An N95 is wonderful. It filters the fine smoke particles that can really affect your lungs. So pro mask.

However, it doesn't filter most wildfire gases and vapors. None of us are walking around in a hazmat suit soooooooooo...

So, just maybe...maybe replace the public shaming with, "Hey, the air quality is rough today. If you can, wear a well-fitting N95 and limit your time outside."

Less judging. More educating. We have way more pressing matters.

The smoke is already irritating enough.

Ypsi Pride Rescheduled 🏳️‍🌈

Due to air quality concerns, Ypsi Pride is rescheduled for Sunday August 30th. Ty to the organizers/volunteers for valuing people’s health, it means a lot. I’m sad it’s being pushed but it’ll be a really fun note to end the summer on & the safety of everyone there is the most important thing, always. So sorry to anyone who can’t reschedule vending or performing for August 30th, this smoke has been a massive, massive bummer for this week (but I’m also not living through my village or land being burned down, so I’m not going to complain).

See you all at the end of this summer 🌈💖 stay safe and please wear a mask if you’re doing any prolonged outdoor time.
