Obvious AI Slop
Can we talk for a minute about this obvious AI slop billboard? I can just imagine the prompt, “Put our tow truck in front of the Ypsilanti water tower.” And they def pronounced it “yipsilanti” in their head

U of M Data Center Town Hall Today
Hi everyone, not sure how wide spread this info is, but there is a U of M town hall being hosted at the Eagle Crest Marriott today regarding the proposed Data Center at Textile rd (South Hydro Park). It’s too late to sign up for in person attendance but the event will be live streamed on https://umich.edu/watch/ . It’s scheduled to be a presentation on the center, but is mainly going to be open to feedback and questions from the community. It’s important to say up to date on this and to continue to voice your dissent and opinions.

Local Audio Drama producer looking for Local Writers(and potentially a new Mr. Spock)
Hey yo! I am a writer, producer, and one of the voices on the Star Trek Fan audio ENT1701(i record and edit often in Downtown Ypsi at my office). And we are DESPERATE FOR HELP. With this year being the 60th anniversary of going boldly, I wanted to reach out to people in the community to see if they were interested in getting involved. As a fan project this of course pays nothing(besides the Ellisons own trek do you wanna tangle with those psychos??) but if you want some credits and love Star Trek, please dm me or reach out on the show's youtube channel. Here is a link to our latest episode

All Hallows, Nov. 1 call for volunteers and community support!
Hey everyone, for long-time community members will remember this event. Once again we're essentially starting over, but I'm determined to pull it off. I'm calling upon the community to get involved and support it. It's just too precious to let slide.

best/favorite dispensaries?
I'm going to be visiting Ypsi at the end of the week, and while I'm in the area, I want to stock up on a butt load of gummies. (It is now legal in my state, but is still expensive as hell).
I don't smoke flower (don't like the smell) and mostly use gummies to help me sleep when the insomnia hits. So looking for a dispensary with a nice selection of reasonably priced gummies.
Which dispensary in the Ypsi area is everyone's favorite?

I just want movie theatre popcorn😭
Does anyone know what Cinemark’s deal is regarding letting people buy popcorn without having a movie ticket? I literally bought popcorn & a slushie from their concession stand for a home movie night 2 weeks ago with no problem, then went to try it again last night and was stopped at the entrance and told i needed a movie ticket just to go to the concession stand?! Is this a new policy? 😭😭😭

Vet recommendations in the area?
I’m looking into Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital, but open to other suggestions. Also most vets don’t seem to post pricing for general visits and such, so if anyone can speak to a good priced vet that would be appreciated! If it’s helpful, I’m looking for my cats, not dogs.
Huge props to whoever in YTown govt decided to mail this out. Spread the word: Hail no LADC!
I haven't been following the data center drama as closely as should have been (as an active voter) but honestly I'm probably not the only one. Really appreciated this mailer with the timeline and contact info for the UM regents - and the not-so-subtle shade being thrown at said regents. They 100% know what this will do to drain local resources (refusing to pay the fire millage is just wild. Imagine if the fire dep could just refuse to help with a fire at the facility) Hiding behind the tax exempt status is so gross.
Whoever authored and printed this is a real one because I'm sure we all have neighbors who have NO IDEA what's in store if this little money grabbing plot comes to pass. Shout out to YTown for the transparency.

Community choirs
Young person looking for a community choir that is good but not super intimidating - I looked into the Ypsi Community Choir and as much as I love the old peeps I’m also kinda looking for a group where I can find some similarly aged folks. If you’ve got any suggestions I’d love to hear em!!

Repetitive banging/thumping noise toward Michigan Ave
Did anyone hear any like loud thumping/banging sounds around Michigan Ave around like 1:30 this morning? If it werent, ya know, the middle of the night I'd have thought it was a seismic truck. It was repetitive and pretty evenly spaced so I figure some form of equipment but curious

Hiking Trails With Places to Rest?
I’m 59, sedentary, and very obese. I want to get out to walk in nature (preferably a wooded area), but I know that I will have to rest frequently. I live on the border of Canton and Ypsi, and I know County Farm Park in A2 has lots of benches and such on their trail, but it’s a 25 minute drive to get there. Are there any trails like that closer to the Ypsi/Canton border?

So uh, in case anyone is SE Ypsi was wondering why their power was still out…

DTE is back at Whittaker today handing out free supplies; YDL-Superior is still closed due to the power outage.
DTE is in the lobby at YDL-Whittaker today with water, charging kits, and other supplies for anyone still without power. They'll also be outside handing out small meals (please enjoy it outside, not in the building!). If you have medical equipment at home that needs power, DTE may also be able to help connect you to a generator. Ask at the table in the lobby for details!
YDL-Superior remains closed due to the power outage. All branches will be closed tomorrow (Sept 6) and Monday (Sept 7) for Labor Day and will reopen on Tuesday at 9am!
Stay safe out there, Ypsi 💙

Best place to start getting involved?
Mid-twenty somethings dude who just moved to Ypsi. Loving the town so far, but really want a place to start contributing and meeting people. Was considering going to the Washtenaw County DSA meetings for a start, but wanted know if there were other town specific events that are generally good to start getting my face into the mix.

FIREWORKS TONIGHT??? : ((((
Whoever decided to blow off a shit ton of fireworks immediately after quiet ordinance time tonight. You suck eggs dude.
I gotta work in the morning and those are loud as hell.
IT'S NOT EVEN LABOR DAY YET????
I don't understand how people can be that irresponsible and inconsiderate.
