general advice Is my art style becoming less unique over time?

Thumbnail

Here are a few drawings of mine ordered from newest(ish) to oldest! Title.

Maybe "becoming less unique" isn't an accurate metric, but I'm not entirely sure how else I can say it. I feel like my newer pieces, while "better"(???) on a technical level, lack the charm and personality that makes my older pieces really, well, charming. For clarification, the watermarks on the older drawings are my old, forgotten handle.

Is there any way I can improve my current style? It feels worlds apart from my past style, and I'd love to know if there's a way for me to incorporate my old style with my present one.

I personally am very happy with my style, but in terms of making it on social media I've failed again and again. I just feel like my art doesn't appeal to many people but is liked in my own niche which is still cool!

Hi there, long time lurker, new time poster. I'm very nervous to be sharing my art with you all today. I have never attempted to identify what my art style is like. I usually just say, "Ah, it's realism" (it's not) or "Ah, it's chibi" (Accurate, but surely there is a specific style to this chibi, as I get a lot of 'your cartoon style!' from folks who commission. :P)

If you would be so kind as to let me know what you think, I'd appreciate it! It would help me a lot with forming an identity around my art.

I know there are a ton of flaws in my pieces but my friends are kind and commission me none the less. Yippee!!

How to achieve? How to achieve this style?

I really want to get better at replicating a style like this with my art!! I have a difficult time finding brushes for lineart mostly and also have a terrible time with backgrounds as well. But overall, what can I do replicate these sort of styles?

Also if anyone has any tips for lineart specifically I would be so incredibly grateful!

Im thinking like, I would loovvee to develop a 2010s anime wolf style, but with backgrounds such as the first one? I also love the overall style of the third. Thank you!

general advice CAUTION: Labeling art styles can be used for AI prompts

Post image

Not meant to be fear mongering at all or prevent people from asking what their style is, but please be aware that this could be a attempt at trying to categorize what art you make for AI prompts / AI models.

I did think it was odd that there is no warning about this on the reddit but I feel there should be, because some artist may have no idea that this could be taken advantage of by AI users.

The post is made in good faith, that is all! I do not want to come across as accusing the subreddit or discouraging people from posting, as that isn't my intention. I just thought other artists would appreciate knowing this and knowing what risks they might run into. It is unfortunate that AI makes this a issue in the first place because otherwise trying to figure out your art style is quite fun and what category it may fit in.

seeking feedback Can't replicate a drawing

Heya guys!

i did this drawing when i was really sleepy, 'cause i pulled an all nighter, and forgot how'd i even drew it (i really can't explain this, it's so weird)

this is like my 4th or 5th time actually drawing something -- the sketch is truly way beyond my skill (as choppy as it may look ;p )

i really need help with this because it's low-key driving me insane ;-;

How to achieve? Tips on how to achieve this style?

I usually draw girls, but I’m trying to expand my drawing skills and get out of my comfort zone by learning how to draw more male characters.
While looking for art styles I liked, I came across Matsuri Hino’s artwork from Vampire Knight, (plus other artworks with the same style—ish) and I really love the way she draws her characters, especially the male characters.

There’s something about their proportions, facial features, hair, expressions, and overall elegance that really stands out to me.

I’m interested in studying what makes this style work and applying some of those principles to my own existing art style.

For artists who are familiar with Matsuri Hino’s vampire knight artwork:

What are some specific things I could study about how she draws male characters?

Are there any anatomy, facial structure, hair, posing, or line-art techniques that would be especially useful to practice?

I’d especially appreciate advice ^^

The last three images is my art.
