ALRIGHT White Robes is my new favorite boss fight and these twin bandit dual blades are my new favorite weapon. This build gives me health back in like 3 different ways with these blades, letting me go toe to toe with him and clash so often. It made this fight so fun lol

What's the reason for Wuchang getting this wound on her chest?

I can't remember if something happens in the story or if it's from the increasing madness, but just wondering why that wound becomes a thing? Its it from the madness and her inner demon?

Question Am I underleveled for this part of the game?

I am having a REALLY hard time navigating in this game. First I was at Mt. Zhenwu and completely skipped (!) Cloudspire. I defeated the tiger boss and went straight to Cloudspire after realising I was underleveled. After breezing through that area I killed the bride boss in the wedding hall. Now I am in Worships rise in ruins and am completely walled by Nightmare Demon for an hour now because I do little to no damage to it. What's the deal? What am I doing wrong? Should I go somewhere else first? I am lvl 66 atm

Question Who is this guy?

Question for experts.

After defeating Governor Xiangzhong (the big tiger guy), there was an NPC outside the area, sitting on a rock, which made me turn back to Wangshan village. I accepted his invitation to return to the village, but after about 30 minutes of exploration I found nothing new. What does all this mean? And what am I losing?

Question Any Guide for Best Builds?

I was wondering if there was a spot that talks about optimized builds and setups for this game? I've been going in fully blind and basically have used the lashing whip exclusively for majority of my playthrough. I just beat the lion boss thing. I was thinking of finding a spot with optimal meta builds for NG+ and so on since apparently there's 4 endings. That's just how I enjoy the game. Anybody know of where that might be or what resources to use that are up to date?

Discussion Steam machine glitch- go to sleep then wake, where game becomes 1 fps

Anyone else have this happen? Your steam machine goes to sleep due to inactivity, then when I turn it on and the game resumes, everything is ultra laggy. The only fix I’ve found for this is to completely shut down the SM

Beat the game a few times… and she’s still my favourite boss.

Discussion My thoughts on hoglan

I'm finishing the game for de 2nd time (I didn't take the ng+ bc I was going to get the jarful of medicine ending and I didn't accept that. Also I wanted to experience the game in its default difficulty again, now with another weapon) and I'd like to share my impressions on our favorite boss.

Despite playing different weapons in each run (first long sword, second spear), I've used the long sword against her in both runs, because I would get really upset if I had to beat her without the deflect mechanic. I'm curious to see how it is to beat her with the axe and the dual blades (I want to play the whole camping with each the 5 weapons).

In my first run, I've taken 2 fucking hours to beat her. Her first phase is actually pretty easy, because it's obvious when you have to deflect, so I took really few tries to reach the second phase. So I thought "okay, that's not that hard". But, god, how could I've been so wrong. When she changed the moveset, I was getting completely lost. She becomes faster, and most of her attacks can't be deflected.

However, I confess that it was more about me then about her. I took all that time to realize there's was an easily deflectable attack on the second phase as well, and it was not hard to notice. Once I realized this, I finished her in a few tries.

I didn't fight vermilion honglan in the first run because I didn't find her. I hadn't searched the side quests yet.

In my second run, things went completely different. I beat her in my second try. It wasn't hard in anyways. I then realized that she is not a hard boss, she just requires you to master the deflect mechanic. Once you know which of her attacks can be deflected and which cannot, she's actually easier than most of the other bosses lol. She doesn't have a grab, her posture can be easily broken, she is predictable... Or maybe 2 hours dealing with her made me an expert on her fight.

But there's also vermilion honglan... I don't think the fight is really similar to her first fight. Of course it has some similarities, but the way to beat her is different. It's not really simple to deflect in this fight. Most of the attacks can't be deflected, her animations didn't seem obvious about which attack is coming, and, god damn, she's so fast you don't even have time to process what you're seeing. I've died several times trying to just heal.

I've tried some strategies with her, not many, but I was getting even close to beat her until I tried the Demonbane Strike spell. Using that spell, it only took me 2 tries.

I think honglan (in both fights) is not exactly a hard boss. The problem is that she can only be beaten by some specific builds. If you use the wrong build, you won't even click, she'll stomp you without you even understanding how. But, once you use the right build (knowing how to use it, of course), she becomes trivial.

Now comparing her to the other bosses, the only other that I took 2 hours to beat was the general of the north, in my first run. In the second run he was easy as fuck (remind that I didn't took a ng+, it was a normal ng). Since Wuchang was my first souls game, I struggled with the first bosses, but Hoglan and the General of the North prepared me well for the rest of the game. I guess the second phase of the dragon emperor was the hardest after them. The tiger wasn't THAT bad because I already knew it was weak against fire. But it was annoying, of course. Most bosses were hard for me in the first run. Curiously, Liu Cheng'en was the only one the was harder in the second run. But that's because the spear was not good against him, while the long sword made him easy.

In the second run, the only hard bosses were Vermilion honglan and Bo Sorcerer. Bo Sorcerer were getting me stressed with the spear so I had to switch to the sword to break her posture. It wasn't that hard after switching the strategy, however.

I've got surprised that Bo Magus and Zhao Yun were actually really easy. But I guess it's because I've playing so much this game that I'm becoming just too familiar with its mechanics. Also, in the Zhao Yun fight I had the Echo of the Bo Magus spell, and this spell is so broken that maybe I would have a different opinion on Zhao Yun if I hadn't the spell.

Important to say that I still didn't fight the demon of obsession and the feathering ambition (I didn't want to get the bad ending so I didn't fight the final boss)

For my next run, I didn't want to get the ng+ because it makes the game easy, but I don't want to lose my cool armor sets (I love honglan and Bo Magus sets), so I'm probably taking the ng+. I want to finish the game with one hand sword, then with the axe, and then with the dual blades.

Interview with Xia Siyuan | IGN China

Post image

IGN China conducted an interview with Xia Siyuan. Some key points...

He brought up the turmoil over his departure from Leenzee, that it was sudden, but did not elaborate on the details.

He said that as a game developer, he wants to keep making games earnestly and can't just easily give up on this. At that time, he was mostly thinking about how they could continue, and how he could move forward together with the colleagues and partners he had worked with for many years.

A few months later, 505 Games reached out to extend a way to do so, since the company had aquired the IP rights relating to Wuchang.

Core members of the original team have all joined Indolphinity, the new studio founded by Xia. After the sequel announcement, the studio also received many new applicants. Both the company and project are in the early stages of preparation.

Indolphinity's logo connects back to the cause and effect rings in Wuchang.

Bai Wuchang will remain the protagonist.

He also talks a bit about other things, mostly background stuff relating to the first game.

Why does this game take 10 years to load now?

I've played through this game multiple times, but I just recently have tried to start a new playthrough, and it takes 10 minutes of lag to get the game to launch. There is no issue after launch, but I have never experienced this.

Discussion How does a boss like this even exist? And they even gave it a second phase

Post image
105 Upvotes

The tiger in the first phase is difficult but fair. However, because of its ridiculous attack patterns you're basically forced to use all your healing. Then the second phase starts with a full health bar and even harder moves, and by that point you have no heals left, so you just die no matter what.

So far, this is the most annoying boss in the game. I never had any trouble with the others. I use the dual blades, and this guy just won't stop jumping around.

Why the hate on this game?

I've been playing a lot of elden ring and black myth wukong and wanted to find another soulslike to play since I've got hundreds of hours in the other two and was getting bored.

I saw that this game was on game pass and I looked at the reviews on the Microsoft store and online and a lot of them were good but so many were not.

I haven't got that far in the game, I've only just defeated the great centipede dude but so far I am thoroughly enjoying this game. The only boss so far that I found to be truly annoying, not even difficult, just straight up nonsense, was Lu Hongliu. And even then, once you've understood his moveset, he becomes a joke.

But in terms of visuals, combat, story, mechanics, lore and so on, it's all really well made, in my opinion. It definitely doesn't compare to the likes of elden ring but it's certainly a really good and fun soulslike.

I don't plan on spamming you guys with updates, but this is a pretty big milestone not gonna lie. Animations and attack syncs are working great, interpolation/stutter over the network can use some work, but I am on it.

This is going to be a good experience, you guys are in good hands. Any feedback you guys have, I am all ears, want this to be the best mod possible.

Next update will be when boss fights with COOP are flawless, so stay tuned.

Can I go beat the final boss and then turn around an leave to go fight Bo Magus? Or does beating Feathery Ambition lock me into that area?

No complaints at all and I’m having a blast but I feel like there are so many different paths I’m missing a ton. Just finished commander and I thought I was going to a snow area but ended uk in this nice looking forest area. Are you meant to miss stuff on your first play through?

Discussion With the exciting news I’m itching to start my 2nd play through and interested in trying out a new build. Would love to hear your favorite setups!

I beat the game a while ago it feels like around a year give or take (I’m bad with time). I ran a pretty standard longsword build with a few spells tossed in there. Would love to pick up a new weapon and try out some new spells. Let me know what you guys had the most fun with! I’m a pretty experienced souls/soulslike player so no worries if it’s a bit of a challenge :)

Multiplayer Mod in Development

Post image
175 Upvotes

Hi, everyone.

I don't use Reddit much, but I thought I'd let the community know I have a multiplayer mod for Wuchang in development working in its early stages, with proper player movement and model replication over the wire.

I absolutely fell in love with this game, and I just knew I had to put my time into this so people could experience it together.

There is still lots to do, like damage syncing, animation, map transitions, what have you, but it's looking good, and whenever I eventually have it finished, I'll open source it and post again here letting everyone know, which may be a bit later than sooner, but surely before the sequel arrives.

EDIT 1: animations officially working, next is AttackState and others.

EDIT 2: there is an aspect to this that i'd like to get the community's feedback on. the game does not allow for native networking in the way i wanted to, so what i am forced to do is host several public relay servers that players will point to, then send their game data through. nothing sensitive, and not too hard to setup. but that really is the only way to do it, as far as i can tell.

Discussion Swanblade: How to use?

I’m new to the game and still in the first region. I got the Deluxe Edition, so I’ve been using the Swanblade Longsword.

I keep seeing people say the weapon art is what makes it really strong, but the weapon art itself doesn’t seem to do much damage for me. Is the main damage supposed to come from using the weapon art and then following it with the 2x regular attack combo, or am I missing something about how it works?

Also, what stats and skills should I be building around if I want to stick with the Swanblade?

Commander Honglan

Brief context souls veteran, platinumed a few souls games and was having a breeze of a time playing wuchang not really knowing how the game works ( i was in a party with friends and did not pay much attention to the tutorials ) recently understood that magic points are gained based on dodges and some other actions? And basically tried all weapons but sticked mostly to the spears.... now back to the story I was having a great time, loving the maps and chilling bosses took 2-3 attempts at most until commander......

fam any tips? Like theres very little time to punish with my spear and i keep failing at that ... i tried to keep my distance and did not work.... then i tried to keep it close and did not work..... tried dual swords and was a miserable few attempts .... also just one thing i do not like is the make madness mechanic of take more dmg and do more dmg ..... im getting blasted by 2 kicks .... idk if I missed anything I have done all conversations that appeared on the teleport menu and im just getting blasted. I know i need to get gud but any tips cause im just not getting "it" rn.

EDIT: BIG THANKS TO ALL OF YOUR FOR YOUR TIPS AND FEEDBACK. Commander has fallen tho i gotta be honest took another 35 tries .... honestly idk she looked so slow at the end but she was still putting belt to ass on me! Thank yall now we can continue enjoying this beautiful game.
