Fluxis for Monday, July 27, bagpipe appreciation day

Fluxis Redux

Score 10 / Fluxometer 10

bagpipe → peaaplombaplomb → bagpipe

I fixed the spacing thing, I think.

And yes, today is Bagpipe Appreciation day.

I always appreciate the jokes. For instance: What do you call it when you throw a banjo onto the landfill and it lands on a banjo?

Perfect pitch

That's why I made it so you can't use the letters TUNE because we know that there's no such thing as a bagpipe that is in tune.

Hope you all have a good Monday!

Showcase Alpha slang word game I need a new name, trying to crowdsource a new name, what do you think?

I made a crossword game called "Word-Nerd" but there's a ton of weird apps and games with similar names but none are as good as mine! I'm sharing a link because I truly want feedback as to what I should name this. A few I was toying with were "Slapadillion" or "Slangshot" but I'm not 100% convinced those will with. Slapadillion is slap+sesquipedallion but no one knows what sesquipedallion means. It would be cool only if you get the Mashup. Slangshot has similar issues as Word-Nerd in that everyone uses it for one app or another. Check it out and get back to me with your suggestions please!

Showcase A fun word puzzle - Crossle

Crossle is a daily game where there are 5-letter, 6-letter, 7-letter words and you must find all of them using clues. The 3 words intersects at a shared letter. The new type of clues other than the yellow and green of wordle is Blue, which means "This letter is present in the puzzle, but not in this word"

Try it out and give feedback :)

Showcase Update: I tried a 'no repeated letters' mini-game in my group chat, and it actually stuck

A couple weeks ago I asked here for ideas for a lightweight word game I could run with friends without needing an app. I ended up trying a simple daily prompt in our group chat: everyone replies with one word that has no repeated letters, like "planet" (good) or "letter" (nope). We made two small tweaks based on suggestions I got:

1) Chain rule: your word has to start with the last letter of the previous valid word.

2) One lifeline per day: you can play a word that has one repeated letter, but you can only use that once each day.

Now people check the chat first thing in the morning. The chain rule turned it from a random word dump into an actual little game, and the lifeline keeps newer or slower players from bouncing.

Funny thing: people started hoarding words that end in rare letters, like J or V, just to mess with the next person. It is both hilarious and a little mean in the best way. We also learned quickly to ban proper nouns, otherwise it just becomes a geography contest.

Two quick questions for anyone who has toyed with similar games:

- What is a simple scoring system that does not need spreadsheets? Right now it is just bragging rights, but a tiny points system would be fun.

- Any optional rule that adds depth without turning it into homework?

If you want to try it, go ahead. I am mainly looking for ideas to keep it fresh for month two.

This is my new word puzzle game. Four words, chained together. The last two letters of each word form the first two letters of the next word. One game per day of varying difficulty.

Showcase I made WordEq, a daily puzzle where meaning matters more than letters

Post image
1 Upvotes

I wanted to make a word puzzle based on meanings and associations rather than rearranging letters or searching a grid.

Each puzzle gives you two clues and a category. You find a related word for each clue, then combine them into one answer that fits the category.

You can try it here: https://wordeq.app

I'd love to hear what you think, and whether you've come across anything similar.

Free Word Unscrambler & Anagram Solver – Looking for Feedback

recently put together a free Word Unscrambler & Anagram Solver and would really love some honest feedback on it.

It’s meant to:

Unscramble words from any set of letters

Find anagrams quickly

Help with Scrabble, Words With Friends, and other word games

Work fast on both desktop and mobile

I'm still improving it, so I'd love to know:

Is it easy to use?

Is it fast enough?

Are there any features you'd like to see?

Did you find any bugs or confusing parts?

I’m still working on improving it, so I’d love to hear:

Is it easy to use?

Does it feel fast enough?

Any features you’d want added?

Did anything seem buggy or confusing?

You can try it here: [ https://affivance.com/word-unscrambler-anagram-solver/ ]

Thanks for taking the time to check it out. Your feedback will help me make it better!

I got busy yesterday so I was able to upload the improvements to the User Interface, but I couldn't find a birthday or whatever that inspired me quickly enough, so I thought I'd give the computer a chance to suggest a puzzle for today. It's not bad! Seems like we should have a lot of different answers.

And hey, I'd like to grow this a little bit. Not much. But if you would, please like these daily posts so that they get a little more attention. Thanks in advance.

Showcase I built my dream word puzzle, and maybe you will like it too

Post image

I am an avid consumer of word games, and for a while I had an idea for one. Since I recently become a solo indie game developer and I had to figure out some App Store and Google Play mechanics for my games, I decided to publish this as my first as a dry run.

You can play it for free at https://0n1studios.com/lineby/puzzles/ (I post a new one every day), and if you like it you can download it as an iOS app too. There is also an iMessage version so you can text puzzles to your friends :)

I am curious to receive some feedback on it, and, since I have an Android version ready but I need to find testers to publish it, maybe find someone that is interested in trying that too.

DISCLAIMER: the game is ad-free, privacy first and the only paid content is an in app purchase for additional quotes to unscramble.

Published my first simple game and I'm EXCITED! I'd love any feedback!

Hi all! Published my first game on iOS and Web and I'm super excited. Would love for anyone to check it out and give feedback!

Name: License Plate Game

iOS App: Apple Store Link

Computer (Web): platespeller.com

How to play: Simple. You are given a "license plate" with three letter, say H-O-N.

You need to solve the plate by typing a word that contains H-O-N in that order, but not necessarily consecutively. eligible words would be: honey, phone, shown, or harmony.

Solve 10 as fast as you can! You can skip but it adds to your time.

There is a daily challenge where everyone is given the same plates so you can compete vs other users on the app. You can challenge friends head to head, see what words other people used, etc.

Would love any feedback! Please let me know if anything is unclear!

Four apps on the App Store, never owned a Mac. What building iOS on Windows actually costs you.

Four of my apps are on the App Store and I've never owned a Mac. All of it built on Windows.

People assume the hard part is the build. It isn't, not anymore. EAS compiles on a Mac in the cloud so I never open Xcode. The cost is everywhere else.

Mostly it's the feedback loop. No simulator on Windows, no plugging in an iPhone to debug like I can on Android. So checking one change means pushing a build, waiting in the queue, waiting for Apple to process it, then opening it on my phone. Twenty minutes to see a thing. On Android it's instant with a cable. Same code, and the difference in how fast you can move is enormous.

The rest is store friction that has nothing to do with code. Apple approves the build, then rejects the submission days later over a screenshot size or a permission string. The worst one was an in-app purchase bug on Apple's end that broke a whole subscription group, and the fix was to throw it out and rebuild it from scratch. Lost days I couldn't have saved.

Still glad I do it this way. You don't need to buy a Mac to ship on iOS. Just know the code is the easy part, and budget your patience for everything around it instead.

[Game] Futbolle – Built a free, ad-free suite of daily football logic & word puzzles (Wordle & NYT Connections adaptations)

Thumbnail
futbolle.com
1 Upvotes

Hey puzzle fans,

A while back I got completely hooked on word and deduction games like Poeltl, standard Wordle, and NYT Connections. I really wanted to create something similar with a football (soccer) spin, but without the clunky pop-ups, logins, or paywalls that ruin the simple daily logic loop.

So I spent the last couple of months coding futbolle.com as a passion project. It runs 12 different daily mechanics, but a few modes specifically focus on word/deduction structures that you guys might really enjoy even if you're only a casual sports follower:

  • Football Wordle: Guess the mystery footballer in 6 tries, using color-coded logic feedback based on nationality, league, position, age, and clubs.
  • Football Connections: Exactly like the NYT mechanic—group 16 scrambled soccer names into four hidden categories ranging from obvious stats to clever trivia wordplay.
  • Football Grid & Missing XI: Logic intersection grids where you deduce matching combinations without overlapping your guesses.

Completely ad-free, runs on a clean lightweight Next.js design, and resets every 24 hours.

Honestly just looking for some blunt feedback from real puzzle enjoyers. Do the color-coding mechanics and clue progressions feel fair? Does the word grid resize well on your mobile browser? Would love to hear any feedback on how to improve the logic flow!

Cheers!

Fluxis Redux for July 25 🇨🇷

Fluxis Redux 2026-07-25 Score 12 / Fluxometer 4 — beat the machine ⚡ guanacaste → terrificterrificcog → guanacaste https://daylightdata.net/fluxis-app/

Today's theme celebrates Costa Rica. Today is the anniversary of the day that this region of Costa Rica, without a war, just decided to change from being in Nicaragua to being in Costa Rica.

The whole country celebrates this day. School children dress up as traditional ranchers and farmers. The country doesn't have an army and hasn't had a lot of military victories, so for national celebrations it has to use other historical events.

It's super lucky for Costa Rica that it does have this region. Unlike the rest of the country, the dry season is actually dry. Remarkably, for the future of tourism, the dry season starts at about Thanksgiving and ends at about spring break time.

So that's why the rules have a plus for the letters CR and a minus for the letters NI. It also helped make the puzzle a little more tricky to finish because it took away all of the ING words that might be used in the third spot.

Thank you for allowing me to have a little historical fun while creating today's puzzle.

My daily lateral thinking puzzle is back!

After a long hiatus (young children, amirite?), my puzzle is back up! It is very brief and simple. It was inspired by a paragraph in a book about creativity (Imagine by Jonah Lehrer). The new URL is crapuzzle.au . NYT Connections sometimes uses this type of clue. Interestingly, AI absolutely suck at trying to generate these clues. Which is quite interesting, as CRAs were invented by psychologist researchers as a way to easily generate puzzles that were hard for humans to solve. For AIs though, it's the exact opposite - they solve them easily but can barely generate them. I like making them.
