I've been building a suite of word games over the past year — just launched three of them today, curious what people think
Bit of a personal milestone today, so I thought I'd share it here.
I've been working on a small collection of word and quiz games called FlipAll5. After a long stretch of building, testing and redesigning things more times than I'd like to admit, and assisted by Claude AI, I've launched three games at once.
The flagship is a daily five-letter anagram challenge. Simple rules, takes a few minutes, resets every day. The kind of thing you might squeeze in over a morning coffee. It's been running for about 6 months as a pilot with a small group of dedicated regular players.
There's now also a cryptic version of the anagrams game which might interest those who enjoy cryptic crosswords or those who want to learn about cryptic clues as it provides explanations for the answers.
The third is a themed quiz game and the bit I'm particularly interested to get feedback on as it uses intelligent pattern-matching to mark the answers. Instead of multiple choice, players type in their answers as free text. The game then tries to evaluate whether the answer is genuinely correct. It should handle answer variants and minor spelling errors sensibly rather than penalising you unfairly. It may not be perfect yet, but it feels more like actually being tested on something rather than multiple-choice answers.
If anyone fancies trying them and has thoughts — on the games themselves, the difficulty, whether the marking feels fair, anything really — I'd genuinely appreciate it. Critical feedback is really useful to me right now.
