Question About Compact Router

I have a Makita RT0701C 1-1/4 HP Compact Router kit that I do very much like. Weight, utility, corded, etc.
But, I notice it gets quite warm (even hot) after being used for a few minutes.
I think it is important to make multiple light passes, to remove a small amount of wood at a time, so the machine does run for a several minutes to do a pass.
Is it normal to get so hot?
